I got the Forcefield full set up for my summer adv riding.

I looked at that setup, looks pretty solid. Thought about just getting the Forcefield elbow pads to wear with the tekvest but heard they don't work quite as well if they are not connected to the rest of the setup...move around.

I have never purchased protection that I regretted. I must say I miss the duck tape on the GoPro. :-) Stay safe. FYI I am getting ready to do the Gold Butte back way to St George.

Just finished watching your excellent review video. I had a similar incident happened to me last year but I was wearing work boots. Nine months later my big toe is still sore. I like the idea of the chest protector under the jersey. What are you doing to protect your elbows and shoulder in the event of another crash if anything? I agree with your money spent on safety gear is never money misspent. Unfortunately I learned the hard way as did you that maybe I didn’t have the proper safety gear.

I wear the TekVest over either of my jackets and the jackets have elbow and shoulder protection. I just got the attachable shoulder pads for the vest and am about to buy some elbow protection for when I just wear the vest over a jersey when it gets hot. Appreciate you watching!

I like it 👌. I ride a 2023 xt250 in Az desert. Most of my gear is alpha with level 2 pads. I like the alpha gear for the price, just make sure you upgrade the pads. Definitely interested in the vest. After watching you go down, that really got me thinking about my armor. All I have left to upgrade on my bike is doubletake mirrors. Ps I put a Seat Concepts on the bike, but lm not sure about it yet. After a couple of hours of riding, it gets uncomfortable. I'm hoping that it's going to break in soon.

I'm thinking that I'm going to try the Corbin seat for my XT, I've heard the same from other about the Seat Concept not doing that great a job on the XT. Hope it breaks in for you.

I thought about that vest or one similar looks like it will do the job I wear my motocross chest protector but its not comfortable like that vest

I looked at a lot off the motocross protectors and they didn't do it for me, I felt the tekvest offered the best degree of protection/comfort that I was willing to actually wear.

It'll be interesting to see how you end up liking it. Those wide plastic shoulders look like they'd drive me insane. I realize they were designed to allow a pack to be easily worn, as most heavier armor makes it very difficult at times to get a pack on comfortably. But, the whole layout kind of looks like it would be annoying, but hopefully it's just the looks from a video making me think that. I went and just decided to spend a fortune (well for me anyway) on two suits of armor to try it out after a bad fall. I don't wear jackets except in the winter and just wear the heavier armor on both the street and trails. I figure if I pile into a deer or something, I want maximum protection on the streets.
I ended up buying the Alpinestars A10 V2 Full Chest Protector and the Leatt 6.5 Pro Chest Protector. I kept both, but I don't like the Leatt. Even at 50 years old, I'm a big gym rat and have a large lats and back, which made the rib protection slide down and back which made it useless. So, it just hangs in the garage. The Alpinestars fits very well and the rib armor is nicely fitted. The negative on both of course, is since I don't like to wear jackets, I ended up having to get some very good arm/elbow protectors. I can fit a jacket over the Alpinestars with the back armor and shoulder armor removed, which is a great thing if I don't want to throw on the shoulder protection, but the Alpinestars is so well ventilated, I end up just going with it, the arm protection, and a jersey over it. In the winter I can modify the armor for the jacket. So far so good, and have gone down while wearing it and it did a good job, but it was fairly lowspeed and pitched me down a slope below the trail. Hopefully I'll find someone that the Leatt will work for and I can recoup a $100 or so on it :).

I just wore the Tekvest on an eighty mile ride through the desert and it didn't bother me at all. Once it gets hot, I'll just wear it over a jersey and add shoulder and elbow pads while I ride off road. It's all spendy but worth it when you don't end up in the hospital. I just need some good elbow protection now...
      Stay safe out there!

@@precipiceofgrind Good to know on the comfort level. Let us know what you find on the elbow/arm protection. I'm running Fox's D30 elbow/arm protection, and not convinced it's the best option. Doesn't always stay in place too well, but my arms are pretty large which doesn't help due to the way the sleeve is designed.

@@ridgetop8161 I just got the shoulder pads in, they attach easily to the vest and seem to offer good coverage without restricting movement. I'll have a look at those elbow pads you mentioned.

It's Wednesday today and last Sunday I wrecked my Harley and broke 4 ribs as I landed on the asphalt. My arm must have been up in a superman position. I am looking for side rib protection I can wear under a vest or jacket.

Absolute misery, I can empathize since I broke my ribs in a crash back in the spring. Took four months to totally heal. There are some choices out there but I'm not sure what that would be for your specific need. I wear my Tekvest over my riding jackets but I'm looking at other options as well.

Did you consider those air bag vest that inflate instantly?

    • @precipiceofgrind
      @precipiceofgrind  ปีที่แล้ว

Not really, I mainly ride in the desert where everything is sharp. I'd imagine that vest would work well in an urban area where you'd bounce down a street or something. Can't say though, wonder how tough the inflatable material is?
