For me Ferri is the ultimate Juliet. Together with Bocca, they are breathtaking! Something so fresh, passionate, real, heartfelt, and flowingly lyrical. I've watched them in this countless times. Tonight, I was taken by surprise by how deeply moved I was. I was brought to tears more than once. Transcendent artistry. Thank you Allessandra and Julio.
I agree and I have seen some the greatest ballerins in the world including the amazing Margot Fonteyn. It is interesting to see the evolution of technique.
MacMillan was a genius of a choreographer, he makes this story live like no other, the combination of music and artistry to tell this tale is mesmerising!
Both of Alessandra’ Ferri’s performance of this pas de deux, first with Julio Bocca and then several years later with Angel Carrello are breathtaking. I honestly can’t decide which performance I’d prefer if I had to choose only one. Bocca’s solo moments in this performance are brilliant.
I prefer Bocca. Carrello seems too intent on being boyish and dancing with abandon. He slings her around a bit too much for me. He is a superb dancer- I would not mean to imply otherwise. I like Bocca's interpretation. His more thoughtful approach indicates Romeo knows something important is about to happen. I also think he keeps more focus on her... which is how it should be.
Алессандра Ферри великолепная балерина она не только гениально танцует но живёт свою роль на сцене очень трогательно и у неё огромная эмоция.Я ею очарована.
That is magic. They throw themselves into the characters with complete abandon, and their dancing is so liberating as a result. They tell the story beautifully. Wow. She in particular is a revelation.
Just saw the recent Roberto Bolle misty Coperland version and compared to this...this is just another level. Watch how the movements complemented each other and how graceful Ferri is, and how she almost carries the dance despite being carried. This is the difference between a true prima ballerina and an average world class dancer. When you watch Roberto Bolle and misty Coperland, it just seems that Bolle was doing all the heavy lifting for Coperland, that he was leading everything and the whole thing only works because Bolle is such a good partner who can adapt to any dancer to make it look good (kind of like Natalie Portman in black swan, you can see how obvious that most of the sequences were the actual male etoile dancer doing all the hard work, she just flared her arms about). Whereas here, Ferri’s qualities are clearly shown, she does not need to be led or carried, she is leading in her own way, Boca is only helping her, not carrying her, that’s the difference. And Ferri IS Juliet.
I so agree. I had to watch it again after your description… made it even better. I see the difference. Even between she and Gelsey. And Gelsey’s is breathtaking.
Bravissimi.Bighin GIULIO RENZO
Nobody has ever danced this PDD so well as Julio Bocca and Alessandra Ferri. It is a unique partnership with Bocca, Ferri and McMillan. Nobody has ever portrayed passion this way. In this case, and only in this case, it is very important that the male dancer isn't gay. I saw this danced by my favorite male dancer and I disliked it, because being gay, he could not express the desire of a man for a woman and the chemistry that arises between both. Only a straight man knows that. And being Julio and Alessandra the fantastic dancers they are, this is really a delight to the eyes and heart to see. Unforgettable. Thank you, Julio and Alessandra, for giving us so much joy and beauty!
+Paula Schmid Really? Then I was wrong, it's Bocca that knows exactly what passion and desire mean. Simply fabulous this interpretation. Congrats to him!
We (I mean here in Argentina) always knew Julio was gay. And that is the magic of dance, specially with Julio. When he dances Romeo he IS Romeo, feels likes Romeo, loves like Romeo....... When he danced Manon with Alessandra they were on fire on the stage...I saw it, I felt it....
As good as this is, the Ferri /Wayne Eagling version is superior. The lifts are more dramatic and powerful -- including when she jumps backwards into his arms more impressively.

this is the sweetest PDD of this choreography I have ever seen. Fire, passion, and innocent sweetness !
I saw them dancing togheter many years ago in Milan. IMO no one else better than them in these two roles. Pure magic.
PERFECTION! It doesn't get any better than these two. SOOOOO beautiful.

Oh no, Ferri isn't "brilliant," are you kidding?? She is BEYOND brilliant. So is he. So is Corella. Just incredibly beautiful.
