I'm in the hvacr trade and rarely do anything like this, but I enjoy your content! I can see you've learned from decades of trail and error. Keep em coming!
A wood conditioner is basically a wood finish reduced to a very thin consistency. So by adding the pre- stain you are adding a very small amount of finish and a bucket load of solvents to your stain. My understanding is that the prestain was originally intended to use before the stain on soft/hard porous wood species. The resin falls to the highly porous parts of the wood. Which creates more uniformity in the stain look when done...Paul you taught me something today!!!! I thank you much for this!
Paul as a fellow floor guy I appreciate your video’s and can tell you and your crew are true professionals and I hope one day you do a video on your process doing gamelines and logo work and what paint you use and how you prep the paint for coating thanks for the great content
Nice video Paul we water pop the same way. Sometimes we will mix denatured alcohol with water 1:1 if were in a rush. Have you ever had any problems staining stencils?
@@OldGrowthSportFloors We have REALLY struggled trying to stain stencils! We have experimented with different procedures, but we still end up having some stain bleed with stencils. Do you have a solution?

What do u think about mixing minwax prestain with other products like Duraseal or bona? Or have you in the past?
Hey Cali, I have not mixed pre stain with Duraseal or Bona, but I think it would work. Give it a try & let me know!
