I’m thinking about purchasing this board because the montage is expensive but how are you able to get 5 different layers going when there’s only 4 faders ? Thats a big thing for me . The montage has a bunch of faders for layering but if I can get a lot of layers even though this one has 4 man that would make me pull the trigger
@@darnellgant6822 good question I believe you’re able to layer up to eight sounds on the MODX as well. It’s as simple as shifting from parts, 1-4 to parts 5-8

You CAN get all 8 layers on the MODX…they have the same sound engine and capabilities. Like he said to access layers 5-8 you just hit a button below the faders and to switch back to layers 1-4 you just press the button again. A light indicates which faders you’ve choose to control as well as on the touchscreen.

Awesome, but this is more like layering them than creating. Creating is starting completely from scratch. For example you’d pick a sine wave and begin to shape it and add layers with newly recorded sounds that would then be modified as well. Hope this clarifies your approach to sound “layering” design. I’ve played both the Modx and the Modx+. I ran into the polyphony issue on the Modx but haven’t had that problem on the Modx+👍🏾i guess Yamaha fixed the issue on the upgrade!
@@djkendall4nah, you see the polyphony issues with the pianos, and it’s so so annoying. With the eps, I stack the Mks Ep1 and 2 with the MKS80 with 2 PADS AND STRINGS, and it never cuts out. Of course, all the eps are sampled, but it told me it’s the pianos. That’s just my little understanding :)
@@brailintaylor584 yeah it just depends on what sounds you’re using. Some sounds have a higher sample rate so they use more polyphony. For example using the Yamaha CFX Stage with an Ensemble string causes the issue 10/10 times for me and that’s just 2 sounds lol

Your best bet is muting some sounds it’ll cut some of the polyphony issues
