1. Face to Face, 2. Live Line 3. No Exit. I enjoyed your list and have subscribed. I am one of those Angels tragics that have seen The Angels 50 or so times with the first time being for the two Bowie shows in Sydney back in 1978. Imagine Angels followed by Bowie! Absolutely a great combination. I was in rock heaven. I met Doc maybe 7 times throughout the years for all sort of reasons and he was always polite, interested in my thoughts and just a real gentleman. I managed to get a selfie with him at his own Tribute show at the Enmore Theatre a week or two before he passed away. The tribute show was a star studded show beyond theatre with many rock luminaries showing their respect by being brilliant. Doc stole the night by doing a breath taking twenty minute or so cameo set to close out the night. Not a dry eye in the 2,000 strong crowd. He went out on top.
Thanks for your feedback and brillant story...he was certainly one of the greatest frontmen that I have ever seen. I can’t help but continue to beat the drum about the band....
Just pulled up some Angels songs and I have to say you are spot on about their sound. They do have a raw stones type sound to them and I am surprised that I had not heard of them before watching your podcast.
Thanks for your comment Jim! They are a great band and have a vast catalogue worth deep diving. Please subscribe to Rock Daydream Nation as I have similar content coming soon....
Met Doc when we supported the band in 1997 was awesome Seen them live a bunch of times my fav top 3 albums are: Dark Room Face to Face Beyond Salvation
Liveline (especially the expanded CD version) is an ultimate collection and a bit of a cheat for ranking. Watch The Red is a surprise inclusion as I would put it much lower with Red Back Fever and The Howling. Two Minute Warning is a great album, and I love Beyond Salvation. Great to see some Australian bands (Rose Tattoo, Divinyls) getting some recognition. Keep it up.
Thanks for your feedback. I have always loved some of the experimentation on Watch the Red (songwriting and production values are top notch and not 80s dated)..Hence my high rating (perhaps contrarian).. Please subscribe to Rock Daydream Nation as many other Australian bands will be covered during the course of the year.
Hello from freshly subbed me!......I was shopping in the Sutherland IGA back in the nineties and noticed a honeyed Irish voice beseeching his 2 boys to stop pestering him for "goodies"...as I got into the next aisle I recognised the owner of that voice,it was DOC NEESON in the flesh no doubt....so funny to see a ROCK GOD being a pestered DAD!!!!!....by the way,I am sure you are aware of BLOOD SWEAT & BEERS by Murray Engleheart....THE essential history of AC/DC,ANGELS, ROSE TATTOO etc.
The albums were different in the UK as I think they combined Face to Face with No Exit. But I love that UK Face to Face release & Dark Room that followed. I also really enjoy Take it to the Streets. Not heard Liveline so going to give it a go. Only saw them once, when they opened for Cheap Trick in 1980 at Hammersmith Odeon. I remember at 1st the audience booed & shouted mods f*** off because of how they looked. But they soon won them over. Still one of my favourite gigs of all time.
Yep Liveline is stellar. Great story about the support gig at the Hammersmith...I've heard a few stories that they literally blew many headliners off the stage (eg The Kinks tour of the US in the early 80s)
1. No Exit
2. Face to Face
3. Dark Room
4. Beyond Salvation
5. Two Minute Warning
(Neeson and Bidstrup please)
Hi Peter - Would love to see a full ranking of the catalog, possibly with you and Martin Popoff, who is also a fan.

That’s a great story! I’ve bumped into Doc in Airport taxi queues and hotel lobbies but not like that...Yep, Murray’s book is a good read.
