I've been to most of these tracks more times than I probably can remember. ...I grew up in it. ...There's footage of my Grandfather's car in a few of these clips...Blue skin white frame #80 driven by the great Larry Dickson. ...The good ol days....I was just a kid then great memories of the race weekends !
It is not as safe as 'The World of Outlaw Sprint Cars'. With Outlaws they have those big wings on top & in front. Although their primary purpose is to increase downforce, if the car rolls the wings doubles as a cushion to absorb the worst of the impact when it happens.

Yes! It was called "The Larry and Gary Show".
Fantastic vision of the USAC Sprintcars from the early 1970s, by the looks of it. Thanks for posting.
These drivers sure had the tumbles in this type of auto racing. Made some pretty tough guys those days. Lots of talent in those 1970's.
Lot of dead people too
Glad its safer now
Thank God for Dick Wallen.
Cool footage
Great racing ..back in the day
Fat tires and big engines have ruined racing.
Didn't you notice that the Tires on those Sprintcars were anything but thin. Or are we all hallucinating?
The high costs aside, too much horsepower is always a good thing for Sprint Cars.
Terre Haute Action Track 1/2 mile.
