Very sad to see so many hateful comments in this comment section from people getting worked up over a random's _opinion_ over an incredible collection of movies that encourage kindness, love, and humanity, as well as teach lessons of equality and embracing our differences. To lash out at someone sharing an opinion on art, because it differs from your own is insanely ridiculous and totally against the messages of these movies you all claim to love. Many of you seem to be having an awful New Years to want to be so vitriolic to someone and try to drag them down over the holiday season - I wish you all the best for the new year, and sincerely hope you all find the happiness you deserve in 2022.
If he didn’t want people to share their opinions on the video then the comments wouldnt be on. That’s kinda the point of posting your opinion on a public platform. If you don’t want people to say something about it you wouldnt post it 🤨😩
@@jaquwlyn I love people interacting, and love communicating with viewers. You’re COMPLETELY right - that’s totally the point of it all!!. If I didn’t want comments, I would turn them off. But don’t confuse your right to free speech as an invitation for (or excuse for) vitriol and harassment.
I’m sorry that people have been so hurtful as there is really no need to do so over something as simple as opinion. That being said I think Disney movies hold a special place in people’s hearts that spans beyond just liking a movie. For many, Disney movies are memories of childhood and a time we’ll never get back, stories that led us to understand or see ourselves for the first time, or for many the first time they’ve seen themselves represented as beautiful and powerful beings. I totally agree that people are being unnecessarily cruel but Disney is now an intercultural, global space for people to feel seen and heard, so it’s understandable that people don’t want to hear that the movie they connect most deeply to is overly formulaic or focusing too much on culture. My heart goes out to you as I can only imagine how it feels to read such vile messages, but please know you are respected and loved and we appreciate the effort you put into such videos! Some people just aren’t able to gauge the balance of their opinion and their emotions. I hope you’re doing ok, please don’t allow the negativity of faceless people to bring you down. Disney is about acceptance and love, not hate 💕
Please keep the video essays coming and don't be discouraged. To increase clarity, I think if the title were something like "Ranking MY FAVORITE of all 60 Disney Movies" or "The 60 Most Inspirational Disney Movies to Me" there would be less controversy and the title would be more in line with what was presented here (that is, of course, my opinion). There is still no need to be mean-spirited and I hope that my comment did not offend. There is a point in tier lists and much respect for making one. But we all have to be careful and understand that even when based on close analysis they are still fundamentally opinion-based approximations of how good or bad something is. "What are the best 5 Disney films of all time?" is going to be a question with so many divergent answers that you can't pronounce it as a fact. The fact that this broad ranking was based on your own observations and analysis and may vary wildly from that of the audience is more left up to assumption than emphasized which is fine in a full expanded essay but vague and difficult to catch here because each movie is only getting a few seconds of discussion. Adding another variable, our love for films can also be inspired by life events surrounding the movie that made us relate more to one story or character over another rather than the movie itself being "perfect." For instance, I once watched a Family Feud episode where the question was which city is known for bad traffic. Los Angeles California and Atlanta Georgia were listed as answers and the contestant picked Atlanta. The contestant did not receive any points as Los Angeles had been picked as the "perfect" answer. However, the contestant had only driven in Atlanta so based on her own experience that was the city with the worst traffic. Disney has made such a wide skew of films that there are likely to be ones that are very special to particular people because they related to them when the more "perfect" ones just didn't hit the same niche. Each of these aspects adds new levels of difficulty to constructing a broad tier list where making one is likely to offend especially coming from a TH-cam influencer whose opinion on the internet is generally regarded of a higher value than the average user's. But I think that results can be improved by emphasizing that opinions are still opinions regardless of who's they are. Everyone is allowed to have their own opinions. And no one's opinion needs to fit into anyone's "perfect" box.
I 100% disagree with your ranking, and that's OK, this is YOUR ranking, YOUR opinion and no one else's. Considering you're ranking all 60 films, I doubt anyone is going to have the same ranking as you. I don't see hate personally, (to be fair, I haven't read ALL the comments) but I see a lot of people defending their favourites and disagreeing, and there's nothing wrong with that. Disney fans are going to be passionate about their faves. My favourite Disney animated movie is Mulan. Encanto's quickly becoming part of my top 3 though I'm hesitant to rank it yet since it's so new and I'm a little obsessed right now so my opinion is a little more biased but it's such a beautiful film with wonderful themes and I disagree about it being formulaic, I think it was the opposite.
Encanto has just become my favorite Disney movie. As a colombian, they totally catched the essence of our traditions and culture and matched it with glorious songs and great storytelling.
i was surprised to see it ranked so low on this list. tbh, i think the only ppl that don’t like it are the people that have no generational trauma within their families, and therefore can’t understand the movie’s metaphors
@@mariagalvez03 That’s the thing though. If only a relatively small portion of the population can appreciate the movie, then it’s just not that good. I know little to nothing about Chinese culture, but Mulan is one of my favorite movies because it’s universal. Encanto is shallow and was created only to pander to a small population of people and everything else takes the back seat. Hence, it’s just not good. Sorry.
@@americangirl6654 a small population? no girl. many many many cultures relate to generational trauma. i’m filipino, and encanto is colombian. but i still understood it. almost every culture that has experienced colonization has intergenerational trauma. wtf are u talking about “small population”?? are you european by any chance..
@@americangirl6654 dude, you don’t know what your talking about - I’m not Columbian or even latino but encanto is one of my favourite Disney movies. The music is AMAZING and the animation is so perfect. You obviously are out here to upset people and I doubt you’ve even watched the movie. And no you can’t just say sorry after calling an amazing movie bad.
No. No, there's no way in hell that Ralph Breaks the Internet is better than Wreck-It Ralph. Hell, there's no way it's better than The Rescuers Down Under or Treasure Planet. Fuck, even trash like Home on the Range probably outranks it. As long as I live, I will never understand why people like Ralph Breaks the Internet 😡
@Disney Enchanted Journey I don't wanna force my opinion on anyone, but I do want to know what it is people like about the most aggressively tone-deaf movie Disney's ever made. A sequel that deliberately goes out of its way at every turn to undo everything that made the first movie great. A movie laden with wanton character assassination, painfully weak humor, enough plot holes to drive a truck through, and a horribly damaging moral at its center (hey, kids, run away from your responsibilities on a whim to go live with strangers! A true friend won't stand in your way!) There are people who look at that and say "Yeah, that's better than Wreck-It Ralph." Objectively speaking, it is not. Wreck-It Ralph is a movie that's laced up tighter than a catcher's mitt, with endearing complex characters, a moving relatable story, brilliant world building, and an empowering message that what you are does not define who you are. Ralph Breaks the Internet whizzes all over all of that and replaces it with Chewbacca Mom and the floss dance. I honestly cannot comprehend how anyone can like it. I genuinely need to know.
I tried to make one of these lists the other day and than realized it was pointless. I'm an animation enthusiast not a critic. Ranking the best animation of all time is like defining what makes the cutest kitten.
Frollo is the cutest kitten, yeah that scene where Quasimodo is tied with ropes and humiliated in front of everyone is definetly CUTE right RIGHT😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬
This guy likes Frozen II and Ralph Breaks the Internet more than Meet the Robinsons, Encanto, Wreck-It Ralph, and Zootopia?! Edit: Ok, this was not meant to be an attack on this guy, it was a comment to show that I was surprised by his picks.
@@zachatck64 that does not give you a reason to go attack a person for liking what they like. I don't like frozen but I'm not going to attack him if he likes it. We are all entitled to our own opinions. And if you can't accept that then get out of here for as much as we care.
@@TequilaToothpick When compared to Disney’s other classic movies, Encanto doesn’t seem to be anything special to me, but I suppose you’re entitled to your opinion.
Encanto is what Disney needed after so many live actions and movies like Frozen 2 and Rhapl breaks the internet (movies who wants to do more than they actually can).
"Princess and the frog is an amazing movie with amazing animation, amazing characters, amazing music and an amazing plot, but it didn't get the recognition it deserved, which is why I put it at number 24!" Yeah.. logical...
It's better than Tangled. I'll preach that forever. Tangled is mediocre in terms of princess movies. Tiana is more likeable and has ambition. I like that. She's my third favorite Disney princess after Belle and Mulan.
Ok, Note to self, never watch rankings by others. While I do find it interesting, why others choose specific movies, I’m just very happy with and focused on my own list. And it really depends what you grew up with, I love home on the range, because it’s super nostalgic to me. And mulan will always, at the very least be top 10 for me! So I enjoy, what others think about movies, I just get furious every time, because my faves are being put lower on the list, or the reasons why movies where chosen on specific spots make just zero sense to me.
Me: let's be tolerant with different opinions than ours in order to build a more diverse and acceptive world. Me after the video: this list is BULLSHIT! This man is INSANE! WHAT THE ACTUAL F***?!

No it doesn’t. It had no plot. You could tell the whole story in five minute, but it was dragged out for over an hour. The music also wasn’t good. The whole thing was just too predictable.
My 20 Favourite Disney Animated movies are: 1. The Lion King 2. Beauty and the Beast 3. Aladdin 4. Wreck It Ralph 5. Encanto 6. The Emperor's New Groove 7. Zootopia 8. Peter Pan 9. The Jungle Book 10. Tarzan 11. Tangled 12. The Hunchback of Notre Dame 13. Hercules 14. Moana 15. The Little Mermaid 16. Mulan 17. Atlantis The Lost Empire 18. Sleeping Beauty 19. 101 Dalmations 20. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
I'm sorry but I seriously don't get what's so formulaic about Encanto 😭 The way it didn't have a big adventure kind of climax and instead focused on depicting this real life issue Colombians experience-literally that verdict undermines how Disney explored a unique and iconic entry with Encanto.
It literally didnt even have a single overarching villain. Because all of the characters were human and had depth and could grow with eachother. Where is that in the formula? 😵 (i agree with u)
I think cuz now we are getting into this "there is no real villain but just misunderstood, and we just need to talk it out" trope with Disney now. They did it with Moana, Wreck it Ralph 2, kinda Frozen 2, Toy Story 4, and Raya. As soon as I heard "We dont talk about Bruno" I knew automatically he wasn't gonna be a villain but just misunderstood.
7:11 what do you mean about “the formula”?? Encanto, Raya, Moana have extremely unique plots, is “the formula” just people not being white?? bc if you want to talk about formulaic, look at almost every disney movie before Moana where every single character was white…
Yeah it’s like the formula has always been marry a pretty guy who saves you from an evil family and now it’s evolving beyond that (and beyond western perspectives FINALLY) and it’s something we should embrace
@Marinette im sorry what? Moana, Raya and Mirabel all have different character traits, motivations and faults. Moana doubts herself because the Ocean chose her to save the world and she doesnt know if she is up for the task, Raya has been wounded by her former friend with trust issues, and Mirabel has to grapple with the fact that she is the odd one out, the one without "gifts". Saying these characters are the exact same is ridicolous. Would you actually say Raya and Moana are the same character?
Some disagreements: 1) just because Disney has never cleaned up The Black Cauldron does not mean that the art is less than movies like Robin Hood or the Jungle Book. 2) The Black Cauldron and the Great Mouse Detective used cg way before the Rescuers Down Under
I was agreeing with your list right up until you said 41. Encanto! ;__; I am literally obsessed with this film so that hurt! Makes my top10 for sure but each to their own! :) My Favourites: 1. Beauty and the Beast 2. Little Mermaid 3. Hercules 4. Tangled 5. Moana 6. Encanto 7. Aladdin 8. Hunchback of Notre Dame 9. Lion King 10. Lilo and Stitch 11. Zootopia 12. Frozen 2

My ranking from worst to best 60: Chicken Little (for some reason I liked it as a kid but hate it now as an adult) 59: Home on the Range (same reason as Chicken Little but at least the animation isn’t awful) 58: Make Mine Music (never seen it but I bet it’s an enjoyable experience) 57: The Black Cauldron (kind of a weak fantasy movie) 56: Melody Time (saw it once, it was nice but probably won’t watch again) 55: Saludos Amigos (again haven’t seen it, but probably will eventually) 54: Fun and Fancy Free (haven’t seen it, maybe I will at some point) 53: The Three Caballeros (not seen yet) 52: The Sword in the Stone (kind of boring up until Arthur gets the sword) 51: Winnie the Pooh (2011) haven’t seen this yet, heard it’s not great 50: The Rescuers Down Under (tbh weak villain and kind of underwhelming ending. Didn’t even see the baby eagles?! Cheater!) 49: The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr Toad (saw it once, it was nice and good animation) 48: Ralph Breaks the Internet (the princess scene was nice, everything else was kind of weak) 47: The Great Mouse Detective (never seen it, but I will. I heard others think it’s good) 46: Fantasia 2000 (always skipped the celebrity cameos. Loved everything else) 45: Dinosaur (love the animation! It’s breathtaking, some characters are kind of boring/annoying. -cough- Zini -cough-) 44: Pocahontas (not my favorite Disney Princess movie, but I love the animation) 43: The Rescuers (Medusa is annoying af she’s not enjoyably hateable like Cruella de vil) 42: Robin Hood (I like this movie, but won’t watch it on a regular basis) 41: Brother Bear (LOVE THIS MOVIE! probably blinded by childhood nostalgia but idc) 40: Atlantis: The Lost Empire (it’s ok, painfully obvious villain) 39: The Aristocats (nice cute movie to put on the background when doing things) 38: Frozen 2 (would have been a great movie if it wasn’t rushed. But I loved a couple songs) 37: Treasure Planet (saw it once or twice, the animation is pretty and Morph is kinda cute) 36: Bolt (awesome movie, I love it!) 35: Big Hero 6 (I want a real life Baymax!) 34: Sleeping Beauty (Aurora is kind of boring) 33: Alice in Wonderland (aka when Disney animators are high af) 32: Cinderella (fact if you cut out all the mice scenes you get like a 15 minute film) 31: 101 Dalmatians (great movie! Nice villain!) 30: Dumbo (those other circus elephants are b*tches) 29: The Fox and the Hound (very cute movie, and love the animation) 28: ZooTopia (awesome animation and great characters) 27: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (beautiful animation and I love the songs) 26: Hercules (this is a funny movie, love Hades) 25: Pinocchio (cute movie, the donkey scene scared me as a kid) 24: Oliver and Company (I like this movie, and the songs were great) 23: Meet the Robinsons (this movie is so underrated! And needs more attention! Bowler Hate Guy is hilarious!) 22: Lady and the Tramp (this movie is so precious! So beautiful and timeless) 21: The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (catchy songs and wholesome characters) 20: Peter Pan (nice songs, love Tinker Bell) 19: Fantasia (love the music, and the animated segments) 18: The Hunchback of Notre Dame (would’ve been perfect if the gargoyles didn’t sing that song) 17: The Jungle Book (catchy songs and timeless characters) 16: Wreck it Ralph (Vanellope is a great character) 15: Frozen (nice visuals “Let it Go” is an earworm and I hated the shameless advertising literally EVERYWHERE!) 14: Raya and the Last Dragon (the visuals are spectacular but the message could’ve been told better) 13: Tangled (lovely songs and Rapunzel is a very compelling protagonist 12: Tarzan (yes I’m blinded by childhood nostalgia but this movie is criminally underrated) 11: Moana (watched this movie countless times and it’s still great!) 10: Bambi (Bambi’s mom dies. -two seconds later- 🎶tra la la la, tweety tweet tweet!🎶. Jokes aside this is a beautiful movie) 9: Lilo and Stitch (Stitch is so funny and I fondly remember my cousins and I constantly quoting this movie) 8: Aladdin (Robin Williams is an icon as the Genie he will be missed. Oh yeah and I guess Princess Jasmine married a former liar and theif that’s nice) 7: The Little Mermaid (favorite song is Part of that World) 6: Mulan (one of my favorite Disney Princess, even though Mulan isn’t technically a Princess, eh details) 5: The Lion King (this movie is breathtaking and is a treat to experience) 4: The Princess and the Frog (nice comeback for hand drawn animation) 3: The Emperors New Groove (god tier! Kuzco is best Disney Princess) 2: Encanto (absolutely stunning! Gorgeous animation, catchy af songs. Dolores is cute, Camilo is cute, Luisa needs all the hugs. Mirabel needs hugs, Isabela just needs a break and Bruno needs all the love and understanding.) 1: Beauty and the Beast (you can’t beat a classic. My absolute favorite Disney movie of all time! Animation is perfection, the voice acting is beautiful and the live action remake can hang its head in shame!)
Good it is a personal opinion, because Encanto is a really beautiful movie showing a hard period that our county had been going through, besides that the quality is amazing, reflecting the colors that Colombia 🇨🇴 represents!
Though Fantasia is not my favorite Disney film, I believe it's the most visual stunning and the most creative animated movie Walt did . Also the Chernabog scene is one of my favorite all time Disney scenes.
It is actually better to group them first according to what type of movie is it then ranking them rather than ranking them all. It's too difficult to compare Cinderella to Encanto or Little Mermaid to Moana because they have differences when it comes to the story.
My top 10 Disney films: 1. The Lion King 2. The Hunchback of Notre Dame 3. Aladdin 4. Hercules 5. Beauty and the Beast 6. Big Hero 6 7. Raya and the Last Dragon 8. Mulan 9. Tarzan 10. The Emperor's New Groove
I loved Dinosaur. I watch this movie on repeat. It seemed incredibly realistic and beautiful to me. Im suprised you criticized it so much and put it on 58 place. But maybe in comparison to minimalistic polish cartoons I was used to as a kid, every attempt at making a CGI movie looked like a masterpiece.
Wow encanto is predictable and you find the music and characters in frozen are annoying? no wonder why they're so low in this list. Ofcourse you're a grown up and you will understand things easily more than a child. Because their main focus is younger audiences and we older audiences tend to love the classics or the past movies, why? because we grew up with it. I really love the robin hood and pocahontas, but in todays standard it will not stand out. Why didn't they make snow white live adaptation? because it have a very simple plot. Yes they set the stone for what to come, but today, like my 10 year old younger cousin, she likes watching encato (she watches it every single day) and frozen. She get bored to others like peter pan, lion king and even most of older disney princesses. Maybe it's the animation itself or maybe it's their generation and it is mainstream. My point is as a child we see older movies as fantastical and magical. But today they didn't see it that way. And if we grow up watching encanto and see that we tend to compare ourself to our siblings, our family having high expections, who is the most favorite and such, and in the end we are special the way we are. Even tho it's "predictable" It would struck everyone's heart and make us better when we grow up. For me Encanto deserves higher, we're just being stuck in the idea that our generation is better than theirs and classic should always be higher because it have a magical effect when we were younger.
I respectfully but definitely disagree with the placement of encanto. It’s characters are relatable and the music is amazing. It’s quickly become my favorite movie and it deserves to be much higher in the list

Ok, I was sad because of The Hunchback of Notre Dame being so low (it's my all time favorite) but it made me happy to see Fantasia so high. It's an underrated masterpiece.
Technically, Fantasia ain't underrated. It's always had its reputation as one of Walt Disney's one-of-a-kind masterpiece ever since that trippy psychedelic era.

if i saw that right, you ranked pocahontas above encanto. Encanto actually put effort into properly showcasing colombias culture and history, meanwhile pocahontas turned the actual history of a indigenous woman who was kidnapped and raped into a love story between her colonizer. Now this, this is bullshit.
EXACTLY. claiming encanto is bad because it has a predictable plot but then liking pocahontas plot which was taken so out of context and whitewashed from the true story makes this list so bs

What a horrible list. Encanto was a fresh breath of air. And Treasure Planet being low just because you couldn't 'relate to it personally' does not make it any worse. But sure, relate to Pinnochio, Dumbo and Sleeping Beauty growing up as a boy with a perfect family lmfao.

Top 10 Personal Favorite Disney Animation Studio Films: 10. Aladdin: great comedy, and great characters and story that tackle interesting themes of Freedom and truth 9. Tangled: fun and adventurous story with instantly captivating characters that can be both hilarious and sympathetic/relatable. 8. Princess and the Frog: very creative take on a classic fairy tale, great animation of the magic and the beauty of New Orleans, and even a pretty clever analysis of the American dream/Disney Dream 7. Jungle Book: instantly iconic and lovable characters with every scene being really funny and an entertaining coming of age story 6. Treasure Planet: possibly Disney’s most underrated film of all time with stunning animation and some really deep emotional themes and moments 5. Hercules: a hilarious parody of the story and old Greek epic films that Greek Mythology fans like myself will enjoy that even not only brings the classic gods and monsters to life, but even incorporates some nice depth(especially with Meg) 4. Peter Pan: one of the most iconic Disney Fairy tales that captures the ideas of childhood imagination and hosts some of the best interpretations of these classic characters 3. Hunchback of Notre Dame: One of Disney’s boldest films incorporating a story and characters you don’t often see in most animated family films in general and tells it beautifully with amazing music 2. Beauty and the Beast: Disney’s best love story with incredibly relatable and complex characters and music straight out of Broadway, and show cases great animation in both the characters and settings 1. Lion King: especially Disney’s grandest epic film with pitch perfect voice acting, visuals and music that make you feel like you’re in Africa itself, and one of the most iconic coming age stories about self worth, family, and responsibility These are my favorites but if you don’t see yours it’s probably because there are only ten spots and there are 30+ Disney films I enjoy watching. I’m intimately connected with south East Asian culture and looked forward to Raya for 2 years. But I was incredibly disappointed and honestly felt it was a flop. The fact they had no music just ruined it from the get-go for me, they broke their Disney formula for no good reason and it seemed like a jab at SEA to deliberately leave them out of the Disney magic. Sounds dramatic but was actually hurtful that we never got any south east Asia vibe songs to latch into as that is what makes all Disney moves grest
My 5 favorite Disney movies : - Alice in Wonderland - Robin Hood - The Emperor's New Groove - The Hunchback of Notre-Dame - Bambi In fact, I love everybody Disney Movie ! Aladdin, Lady and the Tramp, Tarzan, The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr Toad, Beauty and the Beast, The Treasure Planet, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Zootopia, Cinderella, Make Mine Music, Mulan... But yes, Dinosaur is the worst 🤣
I agree with Fantasia :) I'm sad for The Hunchback of Notre Dame. There there's the best villain :) I like Alice, Treasure Planet and Lilo and Stitch too And l agree with the last place xD
Just my own personal opinion on this comment section and your input as a creator: maybe try not to act so upset that people are criticizing you. You have your opinion and your viewers can have theirs. It seems like a fair trade-off. If you feel like your life is being threatened, then report some people, but if they are just being plain rude, then maybe ignore it? Otherwise, be open to criticism and friendly debate. 🤷
I always allow people their own opinion, and openly encourage people to share it. The greatest thing about films - and, in this case, the Disney movies - is that there's SO MANY of them, and everyone's opinion, and experience is different. It's a beautiful thing. But let's not confuse 'opinions' and reasonable 'criticism' with attacks and vile attitudes. These cannot be excused as 'opinions'. 🤷🏻♂️

I can't accept this list, just because of the way he pronounced "Renaissance" 😬 (and the Encanto slaughter, it's definitely not predictable or follows the Disney formula)
Did you watch snow white recently? It did not stand the test of time. The fact that you put it at number 2 is mind boggling, and above everything there's Fantasia? If this list was about the animation alone, I could give it to you, but you seem to rank some of these movies on different scales than others.
Dave likes Pocahontas waaaaaaaay better than I do. It's the least joyful, most disappointing Disney movie of the 1990s, and in no way a better film than Lady and the Tramp or 101 Dalmatians. Heck, I'd put Hunchback over Pocahontas. It makes its statement about prejudice, exclusion, and self-righteousness without making me feel I'm being preached to. However, we agree on Frozen. I smile to see Tangled ranked so highly above it.
I agree. Pocahontas should have been in the 40s at best. As much as I love 2 of the songs (as one of them is horridly offensive) it is a whitewashed representation of the true story.
@@m20047 I agree. I didn’t know until I watched with my husband who is Navajo and I felt bad for dragging him through it afterwards. He told me real story and I can’t believe they still willingly made a movie of it!!

A true friend won't stand in your way!)
There are people who look at that and say "Yeah, that's better than Wreck-It Ralph." Objectively speaking, it is not.
SAME. To me remains the weakest, most pointless Disney movie. Will never get what is it that people see in that movie that I simply can't.

Yes! Encanto at 7th 💯
The list is probably more accurate than the video in my opinion
Yeas at least Encanto is higher than in his list
Summary: Disney has created some of the best, some of the worst and some of the meh.
Same story with DreamWorks

@@gianthand8130 and Pixar. Cars being one of the best, Cars 2 one of the worst, and A Bug’s Life, (IMO) being one of the meh.

Encanto's antagonist being familial expectations was very refreshing to me
I think cuz now we are getting into this "there is no real villain but just misunderstood, and we just need to talk it out" trope with Disney now.
Literally
I can’t believe he wrote those movies off as just about culture
Yeah it’s like the formula has always been marry a pretty guy who saves you from an evil family and now it’s evolving beyond that (and beyond western perspectives FINALLY) and it’s something we should embrace
ABSOLUTELY
@Marinette im sorry what? Moana, Raya and Mirabel all have different character traits, motivations and faults. Moana doubts herself because the Ocean chose her to save the world and she doesnt know if she is up for the task, Raya has been wounded by her former friend with trust issues, and Mirabel has to grapple with the fact that she is the odd one out, the one without "gifts". Saying these characters are the exact same is ridicolous. Would you actually say Raya and Moana are the same character?
Some disagreements:
1) just because Disney has never cleaned up The Black Cauldron does not mean that the art is less than movies like Robin Hood or the Jungle Book.
2) The Black Cauldron and the Great Mouse Detective used cg way before the Rescuers Down Under
Oliver and Company is probably my Disney guilty pleasure I like all the characters and I find the music amazing
I loved treasure planet! The animation, the concept of space faring, the story, and the emotional impact made it one of my top ten movies.

Good it is a personal opinion, because Encanto is a really beautiful movie showing a hard period that our county had been going through, besides that the quality is amazing, reflecting the colors that Colombia 🇨🇴 represents!
Sleeping beauty is definitely one of my favorites it's art style and backgrounds including music and visuals are so amazing

My favorite as well, but scary as hell.
Actually both Fantasias are my favorite COMBINED!!
It is actually better to group them first according to what type of movie is it then ranking them rather than ranking them all. It's too difficult to compare Cinderella to Encanto or Little Mermaid to Moana because they have differences when it comes to the story.
Precisely! It's not fair because of the time differences between the movies.

It’s quickly become my favorite movie and it deserves to be much higher in the list

i completley disagree with encanto, its one of the best movies ever in my opinion..
Some of these short reviews are SAVAGE.
Yeah
Out of all the animated Disney movies, Meet the Robinsons is the first to have two shocking twists. Might be underrated but I love the family and quote “Keep Moving Forward”
encanto is only ranked low by those who haven’t experienced the generational trauma that it showcases, and therefore couldn’t understand the metaphors
Or by those who simply loved a bunch of other movies _more_ than it. You do know this is how a ranking works, right?
@@DaveLeeDownUnder i guess, but u also said it was predictable and the story was too much like the others. when that’s rlly not true, as the others don’t rlly brush upon intergenerational trauma.
either way, i realized most of ur ranking were based off animation anyways
@@DaveLeeDownUnder also, no need to be so passive aggressive 😂 ppl are allowed to disagree with ur public statements !!
@@DaveLeeDownUnder she’s absolutely right and even then, your reasonings for placement highly favored history of the movie and was inconsistent 🤷🏽♀️ why are you getting mad?
I can't get by frozen either. Good list. Here are my top ten:
10) Zootopia
9) Lilo and stitch (one of the best songs ever)
8) Fantasia( people don't appreciate it)
7) Beauty and the Beast
6) The sword in the stone
5) Lion King
4) Aladdin
3)Hercules
2) The emperor's new groove
1) Mulan
Love your top 10! Thanks for the effort!!
“Raya and the Last Dragon” deserved so much more in this list…🙄
I’m intimately connected with south East Asian culture and looked forward to Raya for 2 years. But I was incredibly disappointed and honestly felt it was a flop. The fact they had no music just ruined it from the get-go for me, they broke their Disney formula for no good reason and it seemed like a jab at SEA to deliberately leave them out of the Disney magic. Sounds dramatic but was actually hurtful that we never got any south east Asia vibe songs to latch into as that is what makes all Disney moves grest
No it didn't, honestly one of the worse films this studio has made
Glad that Alice in Wonderland placed at Top 20. It's by far one of the best and most underrated Disney movies!
My 5 favorite Disney movies :
- Alice in Wonderland
- Robin Hood
- The Emperor's New Groove
- The Hunchback of Notre-Dame
- Bambi
In fact, I love everybody Disney Movie !
The second Ralph film being higher than the first one is a straight up crime
I agree with Fantasia :)
I'm sad for The Hunchback of Notre Dame. There there's the best villain :)
I like Alice, Treasure Planet and Lilo and Stitch too
And l agree with the last place xD
You: *putting Brother Bear in 53*
Me: "YOU'RE DONE!"
That was A great Video and I love The Little Mermaid and Encanto have Wonderful Animation and 60 Animated Films is great for Disney!🎊🥳❤🤩🎉

I'm so glad to see Encanto didn't make the top 10 just because it's the internet's new darling. Good job to sticking to your guns, man. I salute you. You've earned yourself a new subscriber!
Thank you, I appreciate it! Didn't even realise how much of a FRENZY this movie was until I published this video (not that it would've made any difference)!
@@DaveLeeDownUnder Yeah, same! The hype is putting me off watching it until the internet decides to collectively cool its jets over it myself. Maybe I'm just salty still about the 2D studio closing but the new 3D films feel kind of samey.
This top 60 list seems random. Even though I'm a 90's kid and growned up with the classic animations. Encanto is my most favorite Disney movie of all time. Never before I was sooo satisfied with the movies but I was really impressed with Encanto. They really changed the common storyline and royalty perfect characters that I've been seeing in the past Disney films. Everything happening and designs in the movie are well thought of. Encanto really improved with the stunning graphics, excellent storyline and charming characters.
My most favorite male character of all is Bruno ⏳🐀
My most favorite female character is Elsa ☃️❄️
My top 10 from oldest to newest are:
10. Snow White
9. Pinocchio
8. Fantasia
7. Alice in Wonderland
6. Sleeping Beauty
5. The Great Mouse Detective
4. Beauty And The Beast
3. Aladdin
2. The Hunchback of Notre Dame
1. Tangled
Sorry but how is Aladdin better that Beauty and the beast?
@@alexiacaceda1421 I agree that Beauty and the Beast is better than Aladdin, but I'm ranking this list from oldest to newest, not worst to best. I have a hard time deciding worst to best.
@@marvincorre4783 I think the only superior things that Aladdin has is the villain and the music.
@@marvincorre4783 for example the side character in beauty and the beast are absolutely iconic and the whole movie is very engaging with a great rithym while Aladdin stars great but the second part of the movie falls aparr a little bit. They are both great movies tho
Apart from that Beauty and the beast has very interesting and deep topics like the real nature of the human or how love can change us .

@@jolly_2217 and it's higher than encanto bruh pure garbage of a movie
Had a feeling the comments were not gonna like the rankings. It ain't too bad of a list tbh, but in my personal rankings a few movies would've been higher than what they were at. Anyways, good video 👍
Haha always a given with these kinds of videos. People don’t know how to handle differing opinions, as always!
Thank you!
When the man puts frozen 2 over frozen and encanto frighteningly low because of a “overused formula”. I’m a bit salty
frozen 2 is actually better than frozen

@@DaveLeeDownUnder I made the list a while ago when I had a marathon. I'm not into being a youtuber, otherwise I would make a video too😊
I can't accept this list, just because of the way he pronounced "Renaissance" 😬
(and the Encanto slaughter, it's definitely not predictable or follows the Disney formula)
Not being "disney enough" doesnt seem like valid criticism...
Of course it is
Did you watch snow white recently? It did not stand the test of time.
The fact that you put it at number 2 is mind boggling, and above everything there's Fantasia? If this list was about the animation alone, I could give it to you, but you seem to rank some of these movies on different scales than others.
agreed, its not very equally ranked
Another fantastic video Dave!!
Fantasia is so good! Great ranking. It's hard. I enjoy them all for one reason or another.
Amen to that
I agree. Pocahontas should have been in the 40s at best. As much as I love 2 of the songs (as one of them is horridly offensive) it is a whitewashed representation of the true story.
if you know the real story of pocahontases life the movie is disgusting and unwatchable…at least for me :/
@@m20047 I agree. I didn’t know until I watched with my husband who is Navajo and I felt bad for dragging him through it afterwards. He told me real story and I can’t believe they still willingly made a movie of it!!
Tangled is one of the best disney princess movie of all time. It deserves a second movie!
They made a series for it!
I really wish they made a sequel! Still, I doubt they might because, with the ending of the series, there isn't really a way for her hair to grow back
Great video 😊♥️ Dave thanks for the video 👍
Great video! I'm with you on Encanto. Visually stunning and very charming, but I didn't love it as I felt it was a tad too formulaic. Not bad by any means, but I'd place it around the same area as you did.
Formulaic how?
My Top 3:
1.Beauty and the Beast
2.The Lion King
3.Bambi
Disney movies I HATE/dislike:
1.Ralphs Breaks the Internet
2.Literally like 99% of their sequels
My Favorite Disney Animation Movies is Raya and the Last Dragon, Princess and the Frog, Mulan & Encanto
In my opinion, the oldest Disney movies beat the newest ones
I think it will be a tradition where me and my family will go watch a new Disney movie in theaters in Thanksgiving.
It happened with Moana, then Frozen 2, and now Encanto.
brother bear being so low is a crime
😢
You should rank the best DisneyToon and Disney Channel movies next. Heck do the ranking of the _Tinker Bell_ CGI movies. 😉
Thank you for this great video!!!
Beauty and the Beast 1991 is my favourite of all other Disney animated movies
2011’s Winnie the Pooh is a Disney movie I didn’t see in theaters. I stayed up very late on the plane and that’s when I watched it.
The only Disney movies I’ve seen in theaters is Atlantis: The Lost Empire - Encanto
Ralph breaks the Internet higher than Encanto and Zootipia?… Holy shit
