This is basically my dream build but only half the box, I'm an expeditor and it would be perfect to swap the box from truck to truck, a home that makes you money.
Y’all have one of the best thought out spaces I have seen throughout my time watching tiny home tours, bis conversions and box truck conversions! I would love to know how much solar it would take to power this setup of everything full size and change the water heater to propane. You guys did an amazing job! I subscribed after this 1 video and I wanted to tell you that the blooper reel at the end was so funny and genuine. You two should show A L O T MORE of that side of you it will be good for you and your channel ❤️
Kristin and Zack, I have to say this is the first time that I've ever seen anyone use a furniture style box truck. The idea is absolutely genius. Let me tell you why it's genius. If you have a Class A motorhome it's more difficult to get servicing done, even though it uses a Detroit Diesel or Cummins engine. If you have to get it towed, costs hundreds of dollars more to transport, because tow trucks are nervous about transporting class A's. If you had a more mobile lifestyle and you broke down, then almost any truck repair facility could work on your truck's engine and drivetrain a whole lot more easily than getting a Class A serviced. your rig is kind of like a Super B, only larger. I can see that the overhang on the front along with the height gives you a pretty full bedroom. As I said before, genius. Congratulations and enjoy.
I really like the stairs in the bathroom. It helps to keep the front open and keeps the feel of a studio apartment more then a thin stair case in the main living area
Omgggggg! This is my dream build! I've been talking about converting a box truck like this for years! No one could see my vision...but your build is literally my vision come to life! The best build I've ever seen! I have so many questions! How big is your truck? Did you raise the ceiling height for the loft space? What's the total height? Why don't you have more videos ahahha I need to see more!!!
Thank you so much! The truck is 35 foot long and around 12 foot tall. We did not have to raise the ceiling height for the loft. There was already the perfect amount of space above the cab for our bedroom.
Ssme here!!! I'm too tall for skoolies. This would be the perfect build for me!!! The only thing I would change is the space across from the futon would be a ham radio setup along with the tv. And I am wondering if a stacked washer drier would go were the dinette area is and the closet was made to face the stairs? But anyway great job!
I love your home! It's well thought out and you've used your space wisely! Also, I am thrilled you have full size appliances as well as a full sized shower and tub! Good for you!! Thanks for sharing, enjoy your home!
Love LOVE Love the real toilet. One of two I've seen in probably over 1,000 videos. Hoping to build a bus one day and will install a real toilet. Not sure what that looks like with an RV tank and moving vehicle but positive it can be done. I actually purchased a box truck years ago and planned to do french doors instead of the slide but the slide is nice. Nicely done.
Great video, with I assume some editing. I am 75, and we travel and camp, so everything has to be secured, put on the floor, or on the bed. You have a beautiful set up for being stationary, but if you ever travel, you have a whole lot of stuff to move or somehow secure. With the electric range, I assume you will mostly be connected to shore power as it would take a lot of solar and a generator to run all the electric items. On the other hand, you could change our a few things or get some portable items like a small propane camp stove and little 12v and heater and be set.
Cant wait for your video on your truck cab rebuild as a can of white spray paint would make your front bumper look great! I subscribed to your channel because you have done such great work so keep it up!
Love it but since it was built to move around (on a truck) then how would the open shelves work for that. You have so much stuff on them so where do you store all that when you're mobile... Or are you not driving around in it?
We originally went with the truck because we planned travel but not very often. If we went anywhere we would have to take everything off of the selves until we were parked. Unfortunately, we have never traveled in our home so this is a problem we have never had to deal with.
Great video & very nice job on the build. Looking at all your shelving, it looks like you don't plan to travel in the truck. That's fine if that is the plan. I just kept thinking how much stuff on those shelves would be on the floor after your first bump.
The floor is raised and the plumbing is ran under the subfloor. We don't have any batteries, we get our energy from plugging it in to a power source or running off a generator.
I love your truck. I don't know if anyone suggested this because I don't have time to look at all the comments but I would put an escape hatch or egress window in your bedroom somewhere just incase of a fire. Great job!
Thanks for the comment! I have thought of that and it is something I'm concerned with. I originally was going to but I ended up going with smaller windows for privacy and I didn't put in an escape hatch because I was afraid of water leaks. I know safety is a big concern and hopefully I can figure something out with it in the future.
Hi were there any issues installing or plumbing the toilet? Or does driving the truck affect the toilet mounting stability? I would like to build a truck like yours with a full size residential toilet and shower.
We had no issues with it at all. I think you would be fine doing that depending on two things: how often you move it, and if you have a black tank. If you plan on moving it frequently or having a black tank on it I would not go that route. With a normal toilet you would have to drain the water out before you moved or it would spill and once you did that there would no longer be a barrier to block the odor of the black tank. If you aren't moving it often or you won't have a black tank (which is what we did) you can use whatever toilet you like.
Thanks I definitely plan to have no black water tank, but do plan to move the truck and drive it around. Do you think the bolts holding down the toilet will keep it secure while driving? I think your truck is the only one I have ever seen with a full size toilet. Is finding a permanent spot to park it with water and sewer and electric difficult? What state did you park yours?
I think it should be ok. I would definitely make sure to have all the water drained and the lid to the tank removed before you moved it though. If you're really concerned about it though you can remove the tank all together but that would be a hassle over time. As far as parking it goes it honestly just depends on where you want it. We are in Virginia and have it parked on land that already had water and septic available. All we had to do was get power put in. If you plan on keeping it parked most of the time, I would either invest in land or see if a relative might let you park it at their place. If you plan on traveling though most campgrounds will have water and sewer hookups unless you're in the middle of nowhere haha.
I have only moved it a handful of times but it handles ok. It is a big truck and can more than handle the load. Something like that would make an excellent food truck. Good luck with your build!
haha imaging u guys opening your mattress made me think of the movie National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation when they bring home their christmas tree and cut the string that wrapped it up and the limbs spread out and hit furniture and limbs bust out the windows..LOLOLL
It was originally made to be mobile and the truck still runs. However, over time we decided to travel with it due to its size. If we ever did move it we would remove things from cabinets and shelves and fasten the cabinet doors before we moved it.
It was really simple. There are videos on TH-cam you can look up for clarification but all you need is your door, 2 small casters, 2 eye bolts, 2 galvanized pipe floor mounts, 2 galvanized 90 degree elbows, and a 5 ft galvanized pipe. Attach the casters to the bottom of the door with screws. Then drill pilot holes in the top of the door for the bolts. Once the holes are drilled you can attach the bolts. Attach the elbows to the floor mounts, then attach one of them to the end of the pipe. Run the pipe through the eye bolts and stand the door up. Then attach the other elbow to the other end of the pipe. All that's left is mounting the floor mount to the wall and your done. I hope that helps!
We have actually replaced the pipe barn door and shower rod with an actual barn door kit and a glass shower door. You can check that out in our latest video!

I just purchased a truck of similar design.. i like the layout... only thing i didn't see was a pass thru to the cab. I can understand the lack of if you're more stationary. I like how the bedroom is seperated tho
Awesome! Good luck with your build! We did not put as pass through. Our home was always meant to be more stationary and it would have changed the layout significantly if we did.
We honestly have only moved it once. It has been in the same spot for the past two years now. If we moved more frequently then it would definitely be a pain!
We have a 50 amp service hookup. It is more than enough to power the dryer. The only time we have any trouble is when we run several things at once. (space heaters, water heater, dryer, oven) However, that doesn't happen often.
I love the fact that you don’t have too many windows in your mini house,it feels more cosy and safe. You still have small windows where you need it,especially in your bedroom, and it’s quite high up,it prevents eavesdropping, you get privacy.
We honestly don't move it. It's just too big to travel in. If we did move it we would have to remove everything from the shelves and secure the cabinet doors before we did.
Why do people ask this question? "Where/what do you do with stuff on open shelves when you drive?" OBVIOUSLY they would CLEARLY TAKE THE STUFF DOWN & SECURE IT ALL!
I must say your tiny home looks amazing and everything is well organized great job..😊

Hi from Tampa, FL. New subscriber 😀👋🏾. Beautiful tiny home 👍🏾

how does the truck handle with that much off the back of the truck, I am looking at building a food truck with an 8ft drop down behind the wheels?
I have only moved it a handful of times but it handles ok. It is a big truck and can more than handle the load. Something like that would make an excellent food truck. Good luck with your build!
So cute

You might want a removable cutting board over one side of the sink to provide more food preparation space.
That's a good idea! We've renovated since this video was posted and added more counter space. It has helped out a ton!

We're do you put stuff to drive. This looks great for a stationary tiny house, but not if you travel in it!
It was originally made to be mobile and the truck still runs. However, over time we decided to travel with it due to its size. If we ever did move it we would remove things from cabinets and shelves and fasten the cabinet doors before we moved it.
Great build! It’s amazing what people can do so inspiring. I wish I could see how you did the sliding barn door wheel setup.

Design tip. When you lay out your floorplan see if you can place the toilet so it is not the first thing you see when you come in the door.
Awesome! Good luck with your build! We did not put as pass through. Our home was always meant to be more stationary and it would have changed the layout significantly if we did.

How do you keep all the stuff on shelves from falling down when you are driving?
I don’t think it moves much. You would have to secure everything from falling.
We honestly don't move it. It's just too big to travel in. If we did move it we would have to remove everything from the shelves and secure the cabinet doors before we did.
