Despite the lighter winds out there & smaller bumps, you were doing great out there! Given the light conditions, that PNG V2 had you flying most of the time, with only a few touch downs. I was thinking of picking up a new Fireball 1070, but don't think it would glide like this V2 PNG in fresh water. Fireball would be faster, but would likely stall much easier. Any thoughts/comments greatly appreciated.
Totally different foils as far as performance, if your worried about low end get the v2png. I’ve seen guys using it in 20kts ocean bumps and having a great time! That with my experience above is a very versatile foil. I’d say you probably want another foil in your quiver in between the 1070 and 1300v2… there would still be space for the 1201 in there! 1070 is for excellent days, 1300v2 is for everyday🤙🤙

Your journey, experience, and continuing efforts constant optimizing the 1201, now have me thinking that's the way to go for my local conditions. Less lift in lake fresh water and smaller faster bumps of Great Lake, make the 1201 better suited than the Fireball. Any reluctance on my part stems from the pitch instability inherent to the Art Pro wings. Would the improved stability and pitch control of the PNGV2 1300 have you more likely to choose that wing over the 1201 in mediocre conditions? My BSC 1060 is the SUV of foils, it's very maneuverable, reliable, & slow! 😕You've dialed in your 1201 so much, and riding rougher conditions fast, doesn't seem to even phase you☀🏄♂😎👍🏻 ......➡1201!
@@drbfitk366 tough question. I wouldn’t see me picking the 1300v2 in any conditions where the 1201 would also function well. Using something like the 325progressive stab or bigger skinnies should help solve any instability issues you might have with the 1201. It’s sounding more like the fireball is not the correct choice for now. The 1180 might also be a potential 😅
Can you please give us a comparison to the 1401 and which conditions suit the 1401 better than the new 1300? Would you still bother with using the 1401 now if you had this new big foil as an option all the time? Cheers
@@MT-qn8bc good questions… I only used the 1300 for 3 sessions, so it’s hard to really comment. First impression was an easy controllable lift. I was not looking forward to the 2nd paddle up at the second half of this vid… as there was no energy in the water. Then I was just up with very little effort.. it is easier to paddle up than the 1401 in flat water and tiny bumps. The 1300 had much better roll the 1401 and general turning. Conditions wise I’m not sure, they are similar but the 1300 is likely easier to use. The 1300 is also less likely to be forced into out of control speeds. I think the 1401 is still more efficient and might be better somehow for a-b distance due to a slicker glide… but the 1300 is likely to be more fun if there’s a touch more energy in the water than the bare minimum. I think I’d still use the 1401 for efficient foiling but it’s close… I see people enjoying the 1300 more due to how much easier it is to roll and turn. Hope this helps 🤙🤙

I've just sold my 1300 a few weeks ago and picked up a 1201 and now this week a 1401. Early days of DW runs for me just starting to click over the past few months. Managed my first DW 10km section on foil on the 1201 this week. Just figuring out if I made a mistake with the 1401 choice now that the new 1300 is getting released. We get a lot of light to moderate onshore / cross shore sea breeze over summer when there's not much ground swell, but unlimited fetch. I'm 96kg and hoping the 1401 will be my solution for light wind runs over summer. Cheers
I've also got the option for nearby bay runs when the ocean is offshore. The bay is mostly where I cut my DW teeth with the 1300 and thinking the 1401 will be good in the bay over winter when we get a lot of offshore winds that still work well in the bay.
@@waynepanui8232 Perhaps the fish eye style lens? Most of my vids show the paddle up onto foil, maybe check some others too? I’m not a great paddler but I’m definitely using it the correct way around 😅
