- The 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet is exceptionally rigid. Innovative solutions such as the luggage compartment bulkhead made of aluminium and magnesium as well as the aluminium rear floor also lower the bodyshell weight to the level of the S-Class Coupé. The standard-fit roll-over protection system behind the rear head restraints features pyrotechnic initiation of the actuators for the first time, in addition to which the roll bars themselves are moved into position by a gas generator.
Mercedes-Benz lays claim to building the world's most comfortable convertible. When it comes to climate comfort, the enhanced automatic wind protection system AIRCAP, the AIRSCARF neck-level heating system, the heated armrests, the seat heating also in the rear plus the intelligent climate control ensure that this is indeed the case. In contrast to conventional systems, the climate is controlled fully automatically. This means that the driver does not need to select a mode for closed or open top, nor is it necessary to save a temperature setting for these driving conditions.
When the soft top is opened, it folds away into part of the luggage compartment. The soft top is separated from the remaining luggage compartment space by means of an electrically operated retractable cover which encloses the soft top. This luggage compartment partition extends automatically during opening of the soft top. This means that the driver no longer needs to stop in order to operate the luggage compartment cover manually, providing for added convenience. The partition will not be activated if the luggage compartment is loaded such that there are objects in the area of the partition. When the soft top is closed, the luggage compartment partition can be retracted by pressing a button in the inner panelling of the boot lid, so as to increase the available luggage space.
Additional boons are standard-specification electro-hydraulic remote locking for the luggage compartment and a through-loading facility into the interior.
The V8 engine of the S 500 Cabrio has an output of 335 kW (455 hp). The displacement stands at 4663 cc and the engine produces peak torque of 700 Nm from 1800 rpm. In NEDC combined mode the Cabrio gets by on 8.5 litres of premium-grade petrol per 100 km, with CO2 emissions of 199 g/km. The innovative 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission supports both a dynamic and a fuel-saving driving style.

This Road is in Portugal. U can see down there Setubal and Troia. Its the N379-1. By the way, in GoogleMaps Streetview u can follow the road. Of course its not that long as showed in the film. Guess they drive there all day up and down....

+Qbadoo5112 Haha, one needs dreams to keep dreaming, i guess... I've always wanted a good looking MB cabrio, but they're either too old or too expensive, so i settled with a little Renault Megane II CC. Hey! at least it's a cabrio, and only drinks 5L of diesel per 100KM, LOL.

Some V8 noise appears but otherwise it sounds a little bit like a diesel. I like the design but I'm a little bit towards SL. Hope the facelift will be more elegant like this Mercedes generation.
Dislike for the screen because it is massive ant not elegant for such a luxury car.
In addition, the lower part of the rear end seems to be unfinished. the reflection of light is not continuous moving from the upper body of the car to the lower bumper.
I am sure it is a great car but they should improve the points I showed above.

Very much a Mercedes-Benz. Not ugly but certainly not that interesting. MB has to appeal to such a wide range of clients and markets that they can't take stylistic chances in the way that Rolls- Royce has. Not that the S class has ever been in direct competition with RR, you don't see a Phantom on every corner.

I don't like it. I really don't like it at all, because now I have to go and trade in my last years SL55. Will it never stop?
It only stops when you learn to stop your desire for things which imprison your mind causing suffering. With that said, I am picking one up too!
I hate that they felt the need to try and take front end styling queues from BMW and rear lights/shape similar to Porsche. If you need visual references look up 2013-2015 bmw 4,5,6 series. And then 2012-2015 Porsche Carrera rears. Still a great car, just styling was too rushed and did not get that Authentic Mercedes-Benz feel.

You would think that a cabrio as pricey and as brilliant as this would warrant a hard top, not a soft top. BMW can do a hard top converible, why cant Mercedes do it for their "flagship" model?

Is this E Class coupe size ? Backsheet of E class Cabrio was the horrible shit small. Make more long and comfortable.
Actually E class coupe and cabriolet has been made on C class chasis.

It is beautiful, but not worth the pricetag. Bentley car is more special. Mercedes needs to uplift the exterior design to a higher level. The prototype version was exceptional, unfortunately they made compromises...

They say that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder...the exterior design team at MB must have hypnotized senior management to get them to continue to sign off on this AWFUL front end.The ugliness started in 2013 and keeps getting worse. God I want my 2006 SL55 AMG /030 performance option ba ck!!!

The exterior is incredibly boring and too reminiscent of Audi. But the interior is flawless..with the exception of drastically needing more wood detailing.
Could it get any uglier than this? I thought the coupe was hideous but they outdid themselves with this Cyclops. Leave the drop top to the real expert, Bentley!
