    Why solder the coax also to the edge of the reflector? Doesnt that affect the impendance? Or what does this do?

    What is the purpose of the small 1x3 mm piece?

      @SolarGliderProject  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      jhart1945 hello, the purpose of the 7x3mm piece is to have the good impedance for the antenna. Impossible to test it at home but don't forget this piece :) will work lot better with.

      @@SolarGliderProject Thanks for explaining. Most 5.8GHz don't have this part. What does the size of that piece depend on? The coil thickness, helix size, coil length, the coax cable impedance (supposing it 50 Ω)?

    where´s the video on the fpv test? hahah

    Hi, does it have to be double sided PCB I have one sided at home ?

      Hi, both are ok, just be careful not to short-circuit.

      Thank you, have you tried range with this antenna ?

    Hi. Great video. I would like to know what helical calculator you used to get your results. I have tried many of them and find that they all come up with different results.

    Hi! I'm looking to built a solar plane and your channel helps a lot! I wonder if 3g network is an option for the solar plane. Is 150 watts enough for a raspberry pi and 3g modem to operate?.

      +Spyros Karogloy more than enough i think but check specs of a 3g module and a raspi

    Can you explain what parts can short circuit this? It looks like everything is soldered together... maybe I missed something.

      @nanonipples5436 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      the helical wire of the antenna is soldered to the inner cable of the coaxial cable. The shield of the coaxial cable is soldered to the PCB part of the antenna. The inner cable of the coax must not be short circuited to the shield or it wont work

    Does this antenna go on-board the glider, or is it a ground-station receiver antenna? If so, do you use a clover-leaf on the glider?

    • @SolarGliderProject
      @SolarGliderProject  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Mike Collins hello, we always use helix on the ground side. Last year we used a cloverleaf but now we are using a pagoda.

    • @ShaftProd
      @ShaftProd 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Does the pagoda works better than the cloverleaf ? (I mean in range and signal quality ?)

    • @SolarGliderProject
      @SolarGliderProject  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ArnaudV pagoda works really fine, try both and choose the best. Depends also of your tx/rx and aircraft.

      Hi, cut 50cms and it will be lot enough! Cut at the end.

      Solar Glider Project hey can i use an old Film dose instead the 3d part?

    • @ShaftProd
      @ShaftProd 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know what your are talking about your film dose but i made one using plastic pipe, you can find plastic pipe with the approximative good diameter easily. Im french so I don't know what to look in english but look at this link :

    la plaque est en quelle matiere ?

    • @SolarGliderProject
      @SolarGliderProject  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Frederic Le Bihan c'est une plaque recouverte de cuivre qui sert à faire soi-même des gravures de circuit imprimé. On appelle ça une PCB (printed circuit board). La matière qui est sous le cuivre est de la fibre de verre FR4.

    • @ShaftProd
      @ShaftProd 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tu peux aussi utiliser une plaque de feraille lambda du style plaque de boitier d'ordinateur crois moi ça marche bien ;)

      Quelle polarisation a cette antenne en question ? LHCP ou bien RHCP ?
      Car je suis vraiment décidé à en réaliser une mais j'aimerais savoir pour l'adapter si besoin.
      Merci pour vos reponses ! 😁
