@@folginator it’s a funny one that - he also said if he hated it that much he wouldn’t have played on it - but I also remember reading an interview with Rick after Alan went, and Rick said his bass playing was so rough and inaccurate, after he’d gone back to Oz after recording his parts, either Rick or Francis would re-record the bass parts without Alan knowing….
The bassist at the time (the late Alun Lancaster) hated this song and so refused to play on it. In one video for top of the pops, they had a look a like puppet on stage in his place. It was very funny.
@@Jerrymouse79 they never had a puppet on stage for Marguerita Time. Alan turned up for one of the appearances and Jim Lea from Slade joined in on the other. It was also less so because he hated it and "refused", its because he didn't like coming all the way back from Oz for 1 TV appearance, and would only turn up to the ones he was already in town for.

Applause to Status Quo for being good sports in this sketch 👏
I might be so keen on the song but I do love the comedy on this. Very good. Very British.

Fun fact. Bobby actually made contact with Rick on that “fake” headbutt
Really nice song
Banger!
Wow that's very cool

Such a shame looking back Alan wasn’t there but living in Australia must have been a nightmare logistically for the band 🤷♂️
That and he hated this song with a passion!
