Lasko 3300 Wind Machine | Odd Failure

- Here is what I believe to be another example of someone disposing of broken equipment at the thrift store -- this time a Lasko Wind Machine model 3300. I am unsure of the age of this unit, these have been on the market in this form factor for quite a few years now, I believe dating back as far as the 2000s.
Despite all the hatred these units received, I think they're pretty reasonable fans for something made today. The one thing I will give Lasko credit for is the motors they use generally seem to come with a satisfactory amount of lubrication from the factory and will operate quite a few hours before locking up.
The main failure mode of these is lack of cleaning. If enough dust accumulates behind the motor, there will be an insufficient amount of air flow to cool the motor, causing the thermal fuse to open.
This one does not seem to be any type of typical failure. Something appears to have gone catastrophically wrong with the switch. There are signs of blunt force on the knob, which is now stripped out. The post of the switch does not turn properly at all. I suspect this will simply need a new switch, but there's only one way to find out for sure.
