Back in the day there used to be a white line painted across the floor outside the guardroom entrance and the sentry box (on the right hand side of the sentry box as you look at it) anyone who crossed it got told to get back. I did on one occasion come to attention turned to my right to patrol and found a lady kneeling in the doorway changing the film in her camera. I think i was more surprised than she was. Needless to say she moved.

They keep coming. You make it sound as if they are Russians. They don't all have cameras, but they could pickup the cameras from the dying bayonetted bodies. 😂
The thing is, the guard is allowing tourists to come stand right next to him. If the tourist decides to attack the soldier, he wouldn’t even have enough space or time to get the bayonet ready to use. Nobody should be allowed to get close to the guards.

Look let’s get things into perspective here folks yes they are encroaching tourists will always push what they can get away with for that snap, it was good that the lady stepped and the Guard did exert his authority. Let’s us just say that a bit of guidance was required but most importantly this Welsh Guard was so well turned out and a little roping off would help but it may be an access area.

One does not stand next to any guard for a photo, no matter how they are dressed . Not in the UK or anywhere else in the world. Try that in some other countries and your marched away so fast your feet won't hit the ground.

I've stood by the Kings guards many times and was able to take photos.

I don’t care how much tourists contribute to the British economy , it doesn’t give them carte blanche to please themselves. Yes by all means take photos but don’t invade the guard’s space. The guard should have shouted sooner and I would have thought the tour people in charge would have given prior instructions about the “dos and don’ts”. There is far too much disrespect by tourists and it’s pissing us off. We wouldn’t get away with it in their country.

It’s one thing to take a picture of a historic landmarks like the Tower of London, but taking pictures of the guards (actual soldiers) as if their Disney world characters is plain disrespectful.

Tourists think they're entitled to behave like this. They thought they were making Windsor Castle and that guard look foolish, but it's always the other way around. Our royal sites have become the best places to see crazy tourists.
Now why don't they have someone doing this with the mounted guards, it is needed more there because it is an animal that can't speak for itself and there are people that think they own the horse and they do what they want..

Please close the whole tourist area for a week, to organize the tour properly only allowing screened tourists. Preferably no naughty children, rude teenagers and drunks. Limit the crowd entering the area. Bring back the sense of privilege, elegance and royal mystique of the area.

This may be a stupid idea, but here goes, couldn't they get someone to stand near each guard and make sure the rules are followed? Tell them " no touching the horse or the guard, when they say, " clear the way!" They mean get out of the way or be pushed or shoved aside. Someone needs to school these tourists on the rules since they can't Read signs. You don't know the rules and regs? Ask an official. Or Read a book before you get there.

These guards are not props or actors, they are serving military officers. I wish tourists would show more respect.
