    GOJIRA is a set and a mixture of all their influence from the 90s/2000s groups, Pantéra is one of them, I'm from that era and I feel that in all their songs. You can imagine lots of things but it will always remain Gojira, they are very good at that. Like you, I immediately thought of Pantera ;), my favorite band

    "The vocal is an instrument like drums and bass... and we've to hear all instruments one in all" Joe's said to response to the questions of the vocal back in mix

    Great reaction and welcome to Gojira! You are definitely scratch the surface with this band. They have some pretty brutal riffage and insane drum work (Mario Duplantier is one of the best metal drummers at the moment) and its definitely a wall of sound. Their earlier work is more technical death-metal and their newer albums are more atmospheric but still heavy AF!
    You are right that the vocals are pushed back a little bit in this album, I think this was an intentional move by Joe Duplantier (the vocalist/guitarist) to make the vocals seem like another instrument in the mix.
    They are insane when they perform live, incredibly high energy. Some of their live shows that you might be interested to react to would be The Gift of Guilt (Live at Brixton Academy), Art of Dying, Heaviest Matter of the Universe (both Live at Vielleis Festival), Pray (Extended Version - At Red Rocks) and Backbone (Live at PolandRock).
    Some of their work from their first 2 albums to check out live is Clone (Live at Vielleis Festival) and Remembrance (The Link Alive).

      @nihilist92  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the Great feedback Patrick! And yeah I 100% get what you mean with the vocals being used as an added instrument to add to the atmosphere. I’ll definitely be checking out some of the concerts you mentioned too! Thanks again 🤘🏻

      @@nihilist92 don't react to Heaviest Matter of the Universe live. All live versions are badly recorded. Other songs are fine.

      @@nihilist92 when I say bad, it's a relative term. It's not actually worst ever, but it's NOT the way to introduce one of their signature songs to people. Once you have heard the album version, the live works fine. But as a first impression thing, it's not a great way to bring across the intricacies of the song.

    Man, i wish i could travel back to 2017 when i discovered this band. You keep finding new favourite songs with these guys, it’s incredible. This one is off of their latest album Fortitude, the last part on this one, is killer, with all the layers, just great. You’re mentioning not liking fade outs, because that’s where they will changes things up, that’s exactly the feeling i had with ‘In The Wilderness’ from Gojira, if you ever listen to this one, you’’ll notice. Right off the bat, they have just mind blowing tracks, but also quite some which are growers, and even take months if not years before you’ll absolutely love them, that’s another reason why i love this band so much. You definitely have to check out some live stuff. They used to be death metal early 2000’s but became more and more progressive with time, which is fine, but their old stuff is where it’s at for me. Some good recommendations to start with are Explosia or L’enfant Sauvage Live at Brixton Academy. The Axe or Flying Whales at the same concert are fire as well. I would than slowly go back in their discography as it get’s more raw and death metal-y. Curious to see which kind of Gojira you will like better as they really went through different phases. and there are many many more epic Gojira tracks, it’s nuts. If a song it sounds meh, give it some time, or if you really don’t like it, than we like to hear that as well. Can’t be all good! Cheers and subscribed! 👍

    • @nihilist92
      @nihilist92  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks man. And yeah it’s usually the deeper cuts I end up enjoying Most with bands so I’m sure it will be the case again with these guys! I’m really intrigued to check the older stuff out too with it being more ‘death metaly’ like you guys have said. And If this song I anything to go off of im sure I’ll love all of Fortitude too

      @@nihilist92 well, this is one of the better tracks on the album to be fair. They went for a more mainstream approach on this one. I still not totally sure how much i like this album, it’s definitely in the lower bottom when ranking their albums, at least to me. You really have to react to live videos because that’s where they shine the most. Any lf the suggestions you read in the comments are great, i’d check Explosia, l’enfant Sauvage or Wisdom comes all live at Brixton first. I think you’’ll like these

    About the only way to listen to Gojira and hear Joe's vocals in a pronounced fashion is to check them out live. His voice is kind of in the background to a varying degree depending on the album, but it is kind of a trademark of Gojira for the vocals to be kind of in the background. So much good stuff to check out with these guys. As great as this song is, most would probably tell you that overall, it is one of their "worst". I really liked that you mentioned Alice in chains. Really want to catch an Alice in chains vibe, Try
    The Way of All flesh
    The Fall
