When people are broke and living paycheck to paycheck ( if that lucky) bad choices do flourish.

Now that ball joint needs to be replaced again along with the knuckle. Aluminum knuckles will get damaged easily from the taper being loose. And the stud will be weakened from moving around in there.

Its because no one taught them how. Shop class in schools is a thing of the past, so no one is learning the basic everyday skills they require to get by. Around the same time that happened, shop labor rates went through the roof.
I agree with the point youre making, but almost no one can afford to have their vehicle serviced at a shop. Even then, quality repairs can be difficult to come by.

Well unfortunately driving isn't a right. It's a privilege and luxury and if you can't afford to fix it right. Then you probably can't afford to drive

@@Tobatech13 I agree. I think there should be far less drivers and far more passengers than there are now. Even if you can afford to fix it, that doesn’t mean you know how to use it properly or safely.

Aren't you doing this all yourself too? just be more careful, study all the steps properly. do your research, and enjoy the new tools you got by saving all the money doing it yourself. and just think about the savings next time you do that same job.
Im sure a lot of people were on the fence about you on your first project. But you made it through. Probably learned from others and your own silly oversights.
Cause you could kills yourself just jacking the car up, or changing your oil. Or just get cancer by being that mechanic who never wore gloves no matter the job.
fencesitters do nothing for either side. make sure you take the fence down before you realize we all on the same side.

Dude don't those have castle nuts?! HOW HOW did he pull the pin out, and put a castle nut on and NOT pin it. I've said some BS about taper on the stud that will seat itself in time given the NUT IS TIGHTENED.
    I CANNOT UNDERSTAND.
some guy who put in new struts on my moms car. DIDN'T TIGHTEN ANY OF THE NUTS ON TOP. None. He got MAD when I went and tried to warn him. Like he got physically mad and tried to walk after me. Facts.

I really wish people would start doing even more DIY, drive the prices of these low skilled wrench pullers back down to reasonable levels. I just did uppers, lowers and inner+outer tie rods on my truck. First time doing that, stupid easy. The problem with DIY is people are cheap and short sighted. They shop at shit parts houses and don't want to invest anything into the proper tools for the job.

You want shop rates to come down? Ha it's only going to go higher my friend. Shop rates need to go up we have a major tech shortage at the moment and it's one of the most underpaid trade. Vehicles are getting far more complex. Anyone can learn to do balljoints that's the easy stuff.

if it's the first time you're doing something you should have the common sense to know that you need to take the time to understand how to do something correctly, and if you're not going to take the time to do it right, you probably shouldn't be doing it at all.
