Eastbourne Primary School - COLOUR FEVER

Eastbourne Primary School has a tradition it is very proud of. During third term, grade 5 and 6 students work at performing a musical or concert.
Generally it is performed in our recreation centre.
During 2020, grade 5 and 6 students commenced work on COLOUR FEVER, however due to the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns, the show was unfortunately cancelled.
During 2021, grade 5 and grade 6 students commenced work again on COLOUR FEVER. Auditions for lead characters were re-held and students began re-learning songs during their class music lessons. Because of the uncertainty associated with Covid-19, it was decided to make the musical into a movie.
Once again our state's schools were sent into remote learning, putting the movie/musical in jeopardy of being cancelled for the second time.
Thankfully school resumed to some normality around week 4 of term 4 2021.
It must be said that the grade 5 and 6 students of 2021 are a stellar group.
Students rose to the challenge and recorded songs and learnt lines in a very short amount of time. Both grade 5 and 6 students went on camps once returning to school.
A large part of the filming took place over two days where students were painted and performed during a 50 minute music lesson, generally with no rehearsal. On the third day the acting scenes were filmed, again without rehearsal. The final scenes which were supposed to be filmed on our spacious hill and oval were interrupted by torrential rain. Thankfully we could move filming into our recreation centre.
So in short, we got there in the end.
Thank-you to Sally Walsh who was a past Eastbourne and Boneo Primary Music Teacher. Sally wrote this play some years ago and graciously allowed us to use the story and make it into a movie.
Finally, I have had a great time editing this movie. I loved watching the mistakes and there would have been more bloopers but I was very tired of hearing my own voice and it was impossible to remove from the film.
