    Wow wonderful documentary, watching Brian, Roger
    talking about the history of the band and obviously Freddie. Talking about their success as a band, memories and anecdots , listening to them, I think of Freddie, that he was the Key of the group, He came in to the stage and it was his, He was a free spirit. Unique and outstanding. We miss you so much, thanks Rory it was Wonderful🎸👏🏻🎹👍

    The first signs of funk appeared on 'Fight From The Inside' and 'Fun It'. These are both Roger's songs, coming before Deacon's influence, so despite his dismissal, he actually introduced funk to the bands sound!

    Strangely enough it was Roger who brought funk first to Queen albums. Fight From The Inside and Fun It and his first solo single was I Wanna Testify which is a Parliament( George Clinton group) cover .

      That's why I didn't understand why Roger fought against John's Another One Bites The Dust, it doesn't make sense to me, unless he was jealous 🤣

      Absolutely correct. The funk influence definitely originated with Roger. The difference being that it was funk within the framework of rock!

    First rock band to get inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, all penned hits. Legends.
    Deacon was like Cantona, the last piece of the puzzle.

    When you see Freddie dressed in the verrry shortie shorts. He was rebelling. They had tried to tell him what and what not to wear. 😂😅 So Fred ❤

    Sometimes Queen blocks stuff during tours but North America was last year. Queen was disliked by critics because they couldn't be defined and they were so showy.

    Great reaction, Rory, thank you! ...And thank you for working so hard to get these released for the U.S. Much appreciated! From what I understand, Freddie really encouraged John to write and worked with him a lot to get things the way John wanted it, not only with the singing but with the writing as well. I think John really appreciated Freddie for that and they had similar taste in music so it was a natural fit. I do think John had a huge influence on Queen's music. It was Another One Bites The Dust that introduced me to Queen but I had no idea who they were. Their marketing in the U.S. sucked which is why I think it took so long for them to break through on the East and West coast. I think they should have done more of the late night talk shows. That was a big thing back then. According to Brian, Paul Prenter really denied Queen a lot of opportunities in the U.S by saying Freddie wasn't available for interviews, unbeknownst to Freddie and Queen. They didn't find out until years later that he was doing that.

    I don't usually like watching documentary reactions. That said, I have thoroughly enjoyed this recap. I think it's due to your maturity level compared to the other 95% of reactors who are much much younger than I. You laugh at the same places I laugh. Your comments are on point. Thank you for ending today on a high note for me. Keep rocking ✌💖😃

    Yes Freddie was very sexual and he said lived for sex during his wild time, but Roger and Brian weren't exactly clean themselves, Roger wasn't married except for a very very short time, Brian was. John was into it too, but maybe at a lesser extent. Queen wasn't liked much by the crappy music critics, but was very popular with the people, they were the people's band. Great reaction 😊

      there has been nothing to suggest during their time with Queen that John cheated it's unfair to say that

    • @deboraclark5791
      @deboraclark5791 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bluebell3720 The only one that has come out was during the 1986 tour, he got drunk one night and it happened, John took off his wedding ring after it happen John always wore his ring till this happened, if you look at photos of John at Wembley he still wasn't wearing his ring, he was very sorry for what he had done. He was a wreck after it happened, he and Veronica are still together. But for John it was mostly all in the wild partying with the guys. John early on took his wife with him on tour, but as more kids came and she was a teacher, and dragging 6 kids on tour just wouldn't work. So like I said John was less in all that, and I've only read about this one time.

      @deboraclark5791 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bluebell3720 It was several years ago, I can't remember the Roadie's name. The interview took place a few years after Freddie's death, Roadies were being interviewed about working with Queen and the last tour. The interviewer asked about John, and asked about why John threw his bass? The roadie said John was in his own world, he was angry and anxious. Everyone knew John's marriage was in a near breaking up. While they were recording the Miracle album John didn't come to the studio until later, he was putting the band on the back burner, but the tour was very difficult, Freddie had to calm John down back stage several times, also John was wandering around the stage, going up front where Freddie wasn't used to, so Freddie had to keep an eye out for him. John was drinking very heavily. In this interview is when he talked about John's mistake. So I can't remember the Roadie's name.

    Well, it's a two-part documentary. Anyway, I really appreciated your insight on Freddie's honesty. And on John Deacon who is often dismissed -- the Bohemian Rhapsody movie particularly fried me on that. He wrote a ton of big songs, influenced many of their sounds, and of course helped make Brian May with the creation of the deacy amp - you should read up on that if you're not familiar. Can't wait for part 4

    Freddie wrestled with his sexual orientation for a long time before coming to terms with it. His girlfriend, Mary Austin, said that when that had the conversation about it, Freddie had such a hard time getting the words out that she pretty much had to say it for him. Fun fact: the shirt that Freddie is wearing under his jacket is from the Mineshaft, a very popular gay bar in NYC.

  • @kendallneason3645
    @kendallneason3645 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Brian May said Freddie’s song Lily of the Valley was about his struggle with being in love with Mary but knowing his body needed to be somewhere else at times. I think because Freddie was honest with Mary and they both loved one another he was able to live unapologetically. Back in those days there was a gay renaissance going on but many people still felt it was wrong. Freddie’s massive talent and honesty helped people accept homosexuality. ❤

    I believe he fell in love with a man and he was forced in a way to tell Mary he was bisexual. She said she thought he was having an affair with another woman because he was coming home later and later or not coming home at all. It took him a long time to tell Mary. David Minn probably gave him an ultimatum.
    After that he became happier and just went for the gay life.

    You know Brian has sold more records than all the beatles put together?

    • @bluebell3720
      @bluebell3720 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't think that's true
      yes it comes up on a fan forum but I can't find anything to support that
      Paul Mc Carney alone sold 100m units he had 26 solo albums/inc wings as well as other work
      Brian may had two albums neither were certificated US Back to the light was less than 1m certified Gold
      yes he produced and did some other projects but 100m ? no
      you can't count things like lady ga ga album because he featured on one song
      it includes credits on all of Queen work claiming he had penned 22 hits with Queen ? I'd like a list!
      I'm not discrediting what he's achieved but better solo success than the Beatles solo work NO!
