    Awesome video. I'm doing a fourth year construction management class - In my project I have to interpret sketches for bored piles and a pile cap, and produce cost estimates - this video made it super easy. Cheers Greg!!!

      @@SITENG No worries. Actually I had a couple of questions. I'm planning a long retaining wall supported by deep bored piles under a pile cap. The plan is to drill & pour the odd piles, then turn back at the end and do the even piles. How long after pouring should I crop? Would it be better to do the pile cap pour all in one go or in segments? How long can blinding remain before pouring should occur? Cheers!

    Hi Greg, thank you very much for the videos! It is really helpful!
    I have question for you. At the first part of the video we can see a guy doing an integrity test.
    What to do if there is discontinuities in the concrete?
    Thanks

    • @SITENG
      @SITENG  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Viktor! In our case this have to be reported to the designer and it's his call. He might redesign the pilecap, add a pile, or maybe even approve it. It's not a site decision.

    • @Construction_insider
      @Construction_insider 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the past we have hand to bridge the failed pile with a reinforced concrete beam which allows the loads to be distributed, provided the other piles have the capacity to take the additional loadings of course

  • @holygate527
    @holygate527 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hello may i know why the concrete got cracked at 2:26

    • @SITENG
      @SITENG  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe during the cropping, looks like the rebar was hit/bend thus causing the crack. It sometimes happen, especially when the foam is not perfect and you struggle with releasing the concrete from the rebar. Remember that at this point all these piles are checked for integrity to make sure all's good :)

    Quite cool and thanks for the video, similar steps as we did at hk. But we won’t backfill before casting the conc. We will make the formwork and pour conc first before we backfill it. Just curious about is uk common to do sand replacement test SRT for backfilling?

    • @SITENG
      @SITENG  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! No tests in this case, just a ground backfill. Later the heave board was used under the slab to allow for some ground volume changes.

    Hi Greg, May I ask a question what is the purpose we need to erect those U shape steel bars on the pile caps

    • @SITENG
      @SITENG  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Alson! I don't know why but I can see your comment now, but it's from 2 weeks. You mean U-bars around the cap? These are needed to provide correct anchorage-connection for bottom and the top of steel, also they're needed from construction reasons as this way the cage can be constructed - let me know if you meant these ones 😁

    • @SITENG
      @SITENG  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! To be honest never had situation like this, but this has to be assessed by the designer and in best case will get a green light and in worse case scenario pile to be redone/extra pile or piles installed next to it to make sure the load will be properly distributed to the ground.
