I was in grad school at Clemson that year. What stands out is what one of the Nebraska players said a few days prior to the game: "Clemson Who?" "Clemson Who" made the headlines and was posted on ever door, window, and locker. Needless to say, Osborne wasn't too pleased with the commit.
Wow! Dr. Tom looks so young! No matter! I admire him. I'm from Omaha, Dr. Tom is an idol. It took 22 years, but beating Miami in 1994-5 was THE best night of my life! About 500K to 1 M people would say the VERY same!

Great video here. I always thought it was funny that Clemson dominated Georgia in 1980 but UGA won the game and the national championship. In 1981, UGA dominated Clemson but Clemson won the game and the national championship. I just hope Georgia and Clemson will become dominate again soon.

I grew up a Turner Gill fan, and, KNEW! JUST KNEW Tommie Frazier was the best of all times! He REALLY was Ali in my mind! Third down? Tommie gets it done. NO question.
I went to South Carolina, but you have to support your state...Clemson needs a football comeback big time...USC is on the rise, recruiting, coaching, facilities, etc....Its no good for SC or Clemson if they are content beating each other...Historically, Clemson has dominated SC, and that has led to the current Malaise...if beating a mediocre SC is your goal, how can you play on the national stage? Go Tigers! Go Gamecocks!!!!

He was a major spark on the team on an offense that had two all century lineman (3 years of outlands), hill finished 4th in Heisman in 83, Roger Craig nfl all time great, Rozier the 83 Heisman winner, and Irving Fryar the #1 pick in the NFL draft. So, Gill out was Huge.
"back to the o.b. (assuming that means Orange Bowl) undefeated at the very least and maybe even in the title game" ..... Yeah... how's that working out? Not even the best team in your division of the ACC.

Turner Gill was injured during the last part of that season if he had been there Nebraska would have beaten Clemson.
