    Great to see you back Tommo. I can't wait to see more of your content, as very interested in seeing the places you travel/ wild camp.
    Cheers from Australia

      Thanks Paul, I've got a lot of ideas for my next couple of video uploads. Unreal knowing that I have a subscriber watching my content as far away as Australia!

    Oh My Gosh... after watching this Flatbead (first time seeing such trailer), it gives me a bigger idea-- turning one of my cots into a camp trailer. Yes, Doable!!
    I've always wanted to have a DIY Very Light Weight trailer that could easily fit me, 5 feet person. :)) Thank You!
    The cot is only about 5 lbs, but wheels and all.. probably will be no more than 15lb. :))
    Small PVC pipes for corner structures, and foam boards for roof. Definitely a great DIY experience.

    Thinking about getting one for my Dog as well. I like your simple rear fender extension for the pup, I'll probably do the same thing for mine. Thanks for the video!

      I was wondering when someone would comment on the home made mud flap! 😂
      The dog rides on it all the time we're out riding and I use a short leash on the rear of the trailer that attaches to his harness just to stop him rolling forward when I use the brakes.

    Thanks great review, I’ve been looking for something lightweight and versatile for my large bulky item of a German shepherd,
    Easy for him to get on and off, plus simple to fold up and store.

    Good to see you with a new clip.
    I now have a Hemiway Cruiser for my own wild camping, and a trailer is next on the list of purchases.
    I guess that the only criticism of the trailer from my perspective, is the lack of mudguards.

    • @TheNorthOutdoorsUK
      @TheNorthOutdoorsUK  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Feels good to be back creating content again!
      My Cruiser is still going strong despite the rough treatment I put it through on my bike tours. That bike is still a lot of fun to ride and I'm planning on doing a range test video in the next few weeks. It would be interesting to find out how far the Himiway Cruiser can go without all the heavy bulk I usually carry along with me.
      As for the mudguards, i don't suppose it would be much trouble for Burley to knock up a pair as an additional accessory purchase, but the fact that this trailer can dismantle itself makes it so much easier to clean.

    thanks for the review. of course i would have found it exciting if you had done a close-up (from 2:14) so that you could see how it is hung. Because this is what would be interesting for meas I'm not 100% sure if I can use it on my bike.

    Just got my burley 2 weeks ago to carry my sup around. It's not cheap but when saw in one of your videos you use it I just ordered one. Looking forward to sup and bike. Have you ever transported a bike on paddle board? Thanks for the review and great to see you back:)

    • @TheNorthOutdoorsUK
      @TheNorthOutdoorsUK  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm assuming you have an inflatable SUP like me, those ISUPS are a lot of weight to carry around and it's a great to just throw it on a trailer and save the backache!
      I'm considering investing in a folding bike that I could potentially stow on board my paddle board inside a dry bag of sorts. My bikes are just a bit too big and heavy for such a task.

    • @vitamaltz
      @vitamaltz ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael I’m ordering a flatbed for my paddleboards as well, both rigid and inflatable. I already have the Burley Trail Wagon and love it. I’m planning on leaving the tow arm off and attaching the front of the board directly to the bike. In this way I can tow even my longest boards. Is that how you’ve done it?

    • @michalczausow4204
      @michalczausow4204 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vitamaltz I took me some time to run the first tests but toaday I can say that it works great with the iSUP. Carried the packed board on the flatbed, and then mounted both, the bike and the trailer to the front of the board (i now know I need to attach some d-rings to the board's tail for more storage) Needed a couple of minutes to work out the balance.

    I'm tempted yo get one buddy, if I can find a cover for it too, I'm in. Will fit nicely on my Himiway and this summer, getting out in the hammock will be a real pleasure. Great to see you back again. And do you by any chance have a link to that front rack by any chance? Really don't want a basket

      It's good to know some subscribers didn't quit the channel after my long hiatus, I appreciate the support!
      The front rack is supplied by Rad Powerbikes and is available on their online store. The factory drilled holes don't quite line up with the Himiway, they are a couple of millimeters out but nothing you can't correct with the right tools for the job 👍🏻

    The Burley trailer looks to be a quality item. I bought a cheap look-a-like from Germany a few years ago. The wheels, which are the most important and expensive part were awful. Wafer thin rims, all spokes were loose, couldn't tension them. I sent it back for a full refund. Some people call trailers 'hill detectors'.😄. I could point you to some interesting stories on some.
    Hope you are releasing more touring videos. They were great.

    • @TheNorthOutdoorsUK
      @TheNorthOutdoorsUK  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for sharing your experience with the trailer you bought, what was the name of the German trailer company? Burleys are expensive trailers but you're right, there's no denying the Excellent quality of the Flatbed.
      I'm definitely interested in getting out on a bike tour now that the weather is warming up.

      @@TheNorthOutdoorsUK Hi, It was off eBay and I can't remember the name. They were fair and paid the postage back to Germany. :) No problems. I was tempted with a British make, which came in two sizes. Excellent wheels and had just a thick ply base. In the end, I went with panniers.

    Nice review, I live in the Netherlands and own one about 10 years now.
    I don't see them much here but I guess people don't look for it, because they are very useful.
    bicycles are my only way of transportation, no need for wasting money on cars.😀
    Although I do own 5 bicycles, so still wasting money I guess.😁
    I see some great improvements for tying up stuff.
    I should do some tinkering on the one I have.🤔
    It seems that the snap on wheels don't come off that easy, the old one has quick release axles like what is common on bicycles.

    Been looking at the burley coho xc trailer for years but with the pandemic supply issues I never pulled the trigger on it as you need to order a specific axel mount depending on your rear dropouts, dunno if this or the golf caddy type one as an alternative would be suitable for my needs, still can't decide...nice to see you making content again though m8. 👍

    • @TheNorthOutdoorsUK
      @TheNorthOutdoorsUK  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was also considering the Burley coho XC for some time before I opted for the flatbed. I think that the rough terrain that I usually ride wouldn't be suited for it however because the single wheel design and hitched on both sides of the axle would be flipping my cargo up like a pancake.. If I didn't have a dog and mainly rode smooth surfaces the coho XC would be my go to trailer.

    • @nvdsraemuna7833
      @nvdsraemuna7833 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheNorthOutdoorsUK I think the single wheel and suspension design helps for cross country, but yeah the bouncing might flip cargo out, which is why it comes with a net I guess 😂, I don't think the xc would be good for a doggo, but I was hoping it's good for a large backpack amount of camping gear and spare battery as I hate riding my bike with a heavy pack on, it feels too restrictive and I like to move when riding. The golf caddy type burley looks cool too but I've seen people flip it when tight cornering, the xc doesn't have that issue because of the monowheel it seems.

    Does your bike have a motor? If yes, what portion of the range does it cut off loaded down?

    • @TheNorthOutdoorsUK
      @TheNorthOutdoorsUK  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Good question, I can only give you an estimation based on my previous bikepacking experience. My E-Bike has a potential unladen range of 70km, fully loaded with camping gear and towing a dog I lose around 25km of range. I'll guess the total payload for this example to be around 60kg. I do own a second battery for double the range on longer bike tours however

    It needs to be twice the size for dogs. It`s ok for miniature dogs.

    • @TheNorthOutdoorsUK
      @TheNorthOutdoorsUK  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The trailer isn't recommended for dogs by the manufacturer, not for its size but from a safety point of view. Me showing my dog on the trailer was a demonstration of this trailer's versatility only. That aside however, my large breed dog fits just fine on the Burley Flatbed Trailer and after hours of training feels comfortable and relaxed during the ride. I think the size is just right for most applications however, the whole concept of this collapsible flatbed is based on practicality and portability so making it any bigger is just adding more weight. Recently I've overloaded the trailer with tree logs and got two heavy logs in the Flatbed side by side. I'm sure I went over the payload limit but the trailer held up well and handled fantastically. Thanks for watching and I appreciate your feedback
