      Thanks. I had a bunch of things go wrong while I was trying to film this episode, and I still was having trouble with the ending while editting. I may go back and try to re-edit.

      Retro Tech I didn’t personally think it’s a big deal unless there were other things that went wrong. TH-cam doesn’t let you modify an existing video right? Just gotta completely replace

    • @RetroTechUSA
      @RetroTechUSA  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      David C I can edit it in TH-cam a little, but it can be a pain & they've really removed a lot of features so basically I think they want us to edit outside of TH-cam, then publish a final cut.

    Hey man. Awesome channel!
    My Sony PVM 14M series gets dim after being on for about 10 minutes or so. Brightness adjustment helps... but continues to worsen the longer it is on.
    I'm wondering what I can do to fix this. Any thoughts? Thanks!

    • @RetroTechUSA
      @RetroTechUSA  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching. You could try to adjust the Screen setting on the monitor, but that is on the inside of PVM. Most of the time there is a potentiometer labeled "SCRN" Turning that will increase and decrease the brightness. If the setting is too high or low, the screen can flicker.

    • @RetroTechUSA
      @RetroTechUSA  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The [SCRN] trimmer is located on the neck board near the H-Stat knob.

    • @menmau

      @@RetroTechUSA Hello there, could this be related to some aging capacitor, or could be one of the circuits that automatically corrects brightness for an aging tube?

    This is probably gonna sound dumb. What’s the difference in running RGB be component? I always thought was the same thing. Been a fan for awhile, and picked up a 1353MD this week, and trying to get everything looking even better than it already does. Using Wii with component cables to run test suite 240p.

    I have a PVM-20M2U (atleast I believe it is, and is labelled on the sticker on the back). When I get in the standard menu there's "status" on the top, going in there will show "PVM-20M4U" on the top right. Is this a known, common thing for the 20M2U?

      Michael Economides i've got to wait for some safety equipment to get here before I make more convergence videos. I do currently have 2 different videos about 3 minutes long each that go over how I adjust convergence on this type monitor.

      Thank you. I've not personally used that PVM model before, but I think the only difference is the region of the PVM. The setting should be identical or maybe slightly different.

      @@RetroTechUSAI alot of them are very similar I think that it's a good thing, be even more confusing otherwise. I've been looking at all sorts of monitors trying to figure them out, next I will be getting to grips with the menus, learning all the time I find it really interesting, my dad was a TV engineer but he didn't work on pvm or bvm, think It must of rubbed off onto me ha!! Just picked up a Olympus OEV143 (Sony PVM-14M4U) with the same exact layout as the monitor in this vid. When I'm connect via RGB Euro scart the picture is all red. When I tested out the cable on my Sony Bvm-8045QD the picture is perfect. Any thoughts on what might be the problem?

    • @RetroTechUSA
      @RetroTechUSA  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like you should check the "GAIN RED, GREEN, and BLUE" Settings on the Color Temp you are using in RGB. Try to increase blue and green, then decrease red. Also, does the problem show on the other inputs besides RGB?

    • @Scribblescrabbly
      @Scribblescrabbly 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Retro Tech Yup for component using the Ps2. Composite with bnc adapter for some reason doesn't work at all with No Sync popping up, same for S-video.

    • @Scribblescrabbly
      @Scribblescrabbly 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Retro Tech didn't work. I put red down all the way and B and G up and the screen is still all red

    • @RetroTechUSA
      @RetroTechUSA  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Then there is most likely a problem with the color portion of one of the internal boards. It could be bad capacitors or other components. That's a difficult fix.

    • @RetroTechUSA
      @RetroTechUSA  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did it just stop working one day or did it never really work right when you got it? Does it function at all now? Personally I prefer PVMs to BVMs simply because some weird things happen with BVMs. They are sooo complex. Sync issues come up requiring more equipment on occasions and that's a headache. PVMs are pretty much plug and play and have less issues than BVMs. Most PVMs are easier to operate also.

    • @anthonyaviles8665
      @anthonyaviles8665 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I have three bvm 20f1u and I haven't had a problem from my other two they all have over 115k hrs but my third one has this issue and has 53k hrs the osd is their but it's almost all black

    • @RetroTechUSA
      @RetroTechUSA  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's odd. Do you think it's some random screen setting for the OSD on that Monitor? I'd recommend testing to try to find a setting on one of your good BVMs that allows you to either dim or change the color of your white lettering on the OSD. If you find the setting then you can try to find it on the BVM with the problem.
