Kenny Washington is a first class singer who fills every venue in which he performs. Wonderful jazz sensibilities, great intonation and smooooth. He performs quite a bit but has recorded very little. Love him.
Taking no notice of the rediculously inappropriate comments herewith, I find this to be a fine, vibrant performance by these two singers - Roberta Gambarini being previously unknown to me. And - note the smiling faces ... it's obvious that the orchestra were more than happy with the 'scatting' !
I do agree completely with you. The faces of the bariton sax Paul Nedzela and of the young alto-sax Alexa Tarantino (two people that certainly "dig" jazz). But if you want to do more in depth about Roberta Gambarini, please listen at was it, in my opinion, the finest interpratation of "Round Midnight" I never listenet to: Look throuh google at "roberta gambarini round midnight osaka", and let me know your opinion. Antonio Crea - Thank you for directing me to Roberta Gambarini's 'Round Midnight' at that Osaka concert. I have to agree she gives a fine performance - and a word of praise here for the all-star band also. There are so many hundreds of recordings of this standard, most of which I shall probably never hear, that I find Roberta's version difficult to 'place', though I'm sure it is one of the best. Nonetheless, she is a wonderful singer ; perfect intonation, diction, phrasing etc. There is much for me to discover about her now, on TH-cam. Many thanks, Antonio.

About diction: please note that Roberta's mother tongue is not english but italian, and that she was grown in a modest family inTurin (fathre blue-collar, mother seamstress), but her parents spent all the money they could in a great collection of vynile recordings, and in 1998 Roberta moved to NY, and in short she was adopted by Jimmy Heath, Johnny Griffith, Hank Jones, Slide Hampton, ans many others of that kind. If you want another "surprising" performance from Roberta, look on the tube for "Estate", with Enrico Rava... Ciao, Antonio

She has an astounding vocal range, but I particularly liked how she was able to play flugelhorn without the use of the instrument ! I noticed the video of the Young Women's Jazz Orchestra on your channel and thought you may be interested in what must be Europe's best youth jazz orch: - The SAJB, based in Barcelona : Search for Joan Chamorro ( tutor & director) and/or the Sant Andreu Jazz Band. There are hundreds of their videos on TH-cam. You may already be aware of these amazing youngsters, of course ( preaching to the converted is not my intention). They have played in Italy (a couple of years ago, I think) so you may have 'spotted' them at the time. Best wishes - Martin.
Am familiar with Roberta Gamborini but not Kenny Washington. Seems like a strange pairing. For starters, she's like a foot taller than him. How is that supposed to work on a song about love between a man and a woman?
I think it's only a problem of positioning the camera. I know Roberta, and she's not very tall, though she is really a beauty. I also know - not personally - Kenny Washington, and I now for sure that he is not a tall man. But God... when he scats - especially in duet - he's really something that deserves the ticket-price. I do love both of them
My daughter met Roberta a few times, and says that she isn't that toll, though she is... well furnished :-) When she was invited - only singer - at the Lincoln Center for the celebration of the 85th birtday of Jimmy Heath, Jimmy Heath described Roberta in an amazing way: he said that Roberta was like a "headline" !
