yeah, i have bought a few books on WWI German planes in prep for the one I am building. I have not fully set in stone the design yet. German pilots had a lot of freedom to paint their planes unlike the allies which had a standard paint scheme
Glad you like it. The support frame is plywood. The half moon shape is balsa, the balsa is covered with epoxy resin. The ballast is #8 lead shot encased in epoxy. The lead shot is handy to use as you can add weight in small increments to place the cg exactly where you want. Thank you for watching, Rick
Rick another phenomenal build and incredible paint detail!
Thank you, 😊
Great looking DR1.
Glad you like it, thanks for the comment.
Very nice!!! Sold my 1/4 scale. I have a 1/3 scale Balsa USA kit to build
Thank you, 1/3 scale Balsa USA will be a sweet build. Have fun 😊
amazing work sir absolutely stunning
Thank you, Rick
Rather beautifully painted. I am in the process of building a full scale to fly and been pondering the paint scheme.
Wow, that's fantastic. If you decided to go model version at least it won't be the typical "RED". Many years ago I restored a full scale Stearman.
:) @@rcflyingwithrick Well.. Half red. the front half and white the rear half. Been trying to figure out the german markings.. I like your placement.
I have to say the red and white is very nice as well. It's a tough decision there are so many different paint schemes.

The ballast module on the firewall is fantastic. What is it made from?

absolutely amazing! how big is it? (length, wingspan) :)
Thank you, The wingspan is 63 inches, fuselage length 52 inches, wing area 1560 sq/in. The scale is 1/4.
The cg point on a fokker dr1?
2 inches back of the leading edge of the middle wing.
@@rcflyingwithrick about 1/3 of the with of the wing. Thank you for your reply
1/4

Thank you, Rick
I can show you some original pictures of my grandfather, Hanns Müller, Jasta 15, later 18 with his DR I, if you ever want to change the design
Very interesting, that would be neat to see.
