Lovely looking bass Jim. One of yours isn’t it. Great playing, nice tone esp with what look like black flatwounds. Plus bridge sponge!
They're not Flatwound Strings, they're Tapewounds. Basically a roundwound string with a smooth plastic/rubber winding around it. Playing with the tone control you can really get from a reggae "sub-bass" tone to a rather bright tone.
P bass goodness! Loving your tone/playing. I'd love to hear a shootout of the Nordstrand vs other P PUPs such as a Fender original '62, Lindy Fralin, Seymour Duncan, etc.
