It's possible @ibcm6500 has mistaken him just not doing it with avoiding it by dodging because he doesn't always do it - he only does it once or twice then you can drink normally. Not sure it might be possible I can't test now without getting back to him sorry
@@WilstormGaming Although I haven't tried it, I've been able to get out of the cinematics by dodging. Man you guys really do an in-depth study of these bosses. They way you are able to describe each and every anticipated move and combos is simply amazing. No wonder y'all are pros.
This was the one, my man! I'd been using the Tri-Point spear and that attack most of NG+ but for some reason when I first tried the GSBS I got nowhere. But you set me straight with this video. I did it with Spellbinder and Life-Saving Strand. So funny how when I inevitably died in the 2nd phase I got so bummed until I was revived; I'd never used Life-Saving Strand before! But I'd put in the right soaks and sparks so I came back with a full gourd and was able to finish the job.
Ha d to come in and comment. Thank you for this channel and your videos they are definitely useful. Finally beat Wukong last night after my 5th try using some of your strategies
Beat the great sage first try with your video , thank you. Man I absolutely love this game. I can’t wait for NG+ over and over. The stone monkey was definitely more of my challenge until I learned the pace he was at.
I have been following you since that tiger vanguard tutorial.. Finally I hope i'd also be able to defeat the last boss of this beautiful game.. tysm for being so helpful
He is bloody hard. I just beat him today. i had promised myself not to see a guide to beat him. I used Jingubang instead of tri point spear but this looks so cool . After i beat him i saw he is still sitting as a stone monkey in that area. maybe i can try beating him with this strategy. super cool this is
I loved this fight, very challenging but I felt like I learned how to handle it, if you take your time and understand the pacing of the fight it is one of the most satisfying. Awesome video 👍👍
Thank you, glad you liked the vid. I thought this was one of the best and most balanced bosses. Challenging but it's attacks all felt intuitive to dodge (unlike Erlang which I thought was harder)
different for me. Felt doable in the first encounter, but got worse with every try because you just cannot heal and he hits like a truck. I dodge more than in any other fight, but still he comes up with so much shit, that it is more depressing than satisfying. Sure you know all the moves as you do them yourself, but something might hit you and as soon as you heal: no no no ... and he is back up
Yo this strategy actually works amazing. I use the tri-point in thrust stance 95% of the time now so switching back to smash with the Wukong stance felt weird. I tried this tactic when o first reached him but gave up after a couple tries. Messed with the Wukong stance a lot to no avail. Then went back to the tri-point doubled with the earth wolf spirit to boost focus. Bear him on my second try with this tactic. I would argue that thrust stance with the tri-point staff is better than Wukong stance with jingubang. The fact that you can get in and out safely while hitting with deadly thrusts is just too powerful.
@@jab_ber_jaw I’m trying to find what build I like so I’ve been doing Bull king armour + Dark Iron staff or Wukongs common Suzoi armour with dark iron. After ng+2 I think I’ll main the common armour since you can do perfect dodges still
first phase is a cake walk, but second phase is impossible. You need to orchastrate the entire fight, so that every move hits at the correct time and every spell is back up.
Guys this boss requires patience unfortunately (I hate these kinds of bosses) you have to learn the dogging for a few hours if you’re like me and you’ll get closer and closer to winning trust me it’s worth it and in NG+ he’ll be a tad bit easier if you level up a bunch
Not that anyone wants to do this, but you can cheese the first phase by being a fair distance away from him and charging to four focus points and letting it slam on him and then withdraw and repeat. Gets you through phase 1 with zero damage. Won’t help you on phase 2 though. He goes into a walking pattern like some other bosses did.
no no no...sorry but no...he dodges your charged attacks! every time, even when in cloudstep. I don't get why peole think this works...I can assure you he dodges 90% of the time. Is this with the staff or the spear? because I have the staff
@@charlieburrows7490 I use the staff and full wukong set. I stay as far as possible, run in for the first four focus hit, get in two or three light attacks, retreat and run sideways while charging and then almost always get the second hit, get in two light attacks, back away and repeat. I can usually get him down to 75% health this way, once I hit or dodge an attack of his once or twice I can repeat the mechanic. Mebbe it's just me, but I can easily get in 3-4 massive hits this way.
Man I'm on NG++ and I'm hard stuck atm 😂😂😂. Either he drinks from my gourd or he holds my staff and slams me around if i use pillar stance. Yeah its rough after a few cycles.
@@Jackson-l1f nah man, smash stance, the gold armor you get in chapter 6, cloudstep, immobilize, stone monkey, wandering wight, plantain fan is what I used and I beat him on my first try. I think you just have to find what you like best and utilize everything you’ve got
I use fully upgraded cloudstep to approach him and fully charge a smash attack start which staggers. I also use earth wolf and the Fan, when you hit him with the fan chase him hard and just keep dealing with dmg it goes so quick
No this spear comes from Erlang, which you can access after Chapter 5 by going back to the Great Pagoda - Doing this before you finish the great sage final boss gives you the "true ending" thus I assume most people will want to do it this way
Completely incorrect. This is my first playthrough. If you are referring to the spear you get this from Erlang who you can access any time after Chapter 5 prior to this last boss for the 'true ending'
@@johnlatza1371 I'm wearing 3 pieces from the Monkey King set that you literally are required to collect in chapter 6 in order to progress to this boss. And then the Ochre Armguards which you get after beating Chapter 2, Yellow Wind Sage. So quite literally everyone who fighting this boss in their first playthrough has access to the four pieces of armour I'm using here.
I’m sorry, I know, I have that armor also but not in mythical. That was what I mean, how do you upgrade to mythical before your second play through? Also, how do you get that spear and make it shoot swords?! I looked up how to get everything he has and I read that you need to be on new game +… but if there is a way to get it beforehand I really need it as I am still having a problem with this god awful boss! Thanks in advance man…

Firstly make sure you have all the spark points in the Thrust Stance skill tree. Then, to do forceful thrust you need to use tactical retreat first which is triggered by pressing heavy attack whilst doing light attacks in the thrust stance. When you retreat back out press heavy attack again and it will do forceful thrust. The flurry of swords comes from the passive trait on the Tri-Point Spear. After forcfule thrust or any heavy attack if you hold light attacks it will zip you back towards the boss to do that whirling attack from which you can also use tactical retreat and repeat.
You can dodge right after you drink your gourd to avoid his stealing cut scene.
Great tip can't believe I didn't test that. Pinned for others.

I defeated broken shell at 2 attempts,, plantain fan and stone monkey transformation made my life easy.
Tip for the first phase:
Charge four point heavy attack with jingubang
run away
repeat
except he dodges 90% of the time....evem when you're invisible in cloudstep...absolute bullshit
This works like a charm
Works for his first phase not the second.
First stage, only charge up to 3 point heavy attack

You have to do a few light attacks (pressing square) and then heavy attack (triangle) to do a combo to get the swords flurry.
