A smooth ride to performance - elevators for giant mobile harbor crane

Konecranes offers innovative features to increase ergonomics, safety and performance of its mobile harbor cranes. For the G HMK 8512, Konecranes provides an elevator solution, which enables the crane operator to reach the tower cab at a height of 43 m in the most secure and comfortable way - ready to start operations immediately.
The elevator solution builds on a high-performance component, which has already been proven in various other port equipment, like ship-to-shore cranes. Operators enter the elevator on the roof of the superstructure, from where they reach their workplace in only 60 seconds.
As the elevator is attached outside the tower, the ergonomic stairs mounted inside remain available as a second fully-fledged ascent, for instance in the event of maintenance and service work.
Various security features
With 350 kg payload capacity, the elevator car provides enough space for three people and service equipment. It has a clearly arranged operating panel with intercom and a display e.g. for failure messages. For safe operation the elevator car features:
- an overload sensing device,
- mechanically and electrically interlocked doors,
- a centrifugal brake to control descent speed in the event of a power failure an emergency exit on the roof.
