  • Super easy light wrap (meaning it doesn't take lots of duplicating and precomping and such) using the set matte effect. So, next time you are comping some green screen footage, check out this technique. also bonus points to anyone who notices the background I used, and what tut its from.

    If your BG needs to be scaled, Pre-Compose it and use the new comp.
    Both the BG and the Green Screened image need to be the same size.

    • @ERey55
      @ERey55 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You got to have the layer into a precomp, and the keying done it inside that precomp. But I've got an easy solution for you: Now AE have Light Wrap (Effects > Key Correct > Light Warp) and does all of this with only apllying this effect to the subject layer.

    Hi Mikey, great tutorial but I'm having a problem even though I've followed your instructions to the letter. When I add the set matte effect for the first time and check the alpha channel, something weird is happening. It vertically stretches the alpha channel from the below precomposed GreenScreen. I went into Green Screen and turned settings on and off to see if this made a difference but no change. The resulting effect at the end of the whole process is a light wrap that is stretched vertically and does not fit the actual person. Any ideas?

    • @LongLiveMikey
      @LongLiveMikey  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      make sure that both comps are the same size dimension wise.

    Hey Mikey,
    Having a little issue with this one. My comps are exactly the same and I can not see the alpha channel matte like you do when I set the Take Matte From Layer to the one I am using as the key. When I invert it I can see the key. I only have the three layers- the background, the green screen layer ( which is a comp) and the duplicate of the background on top. I am working with CC 2015 on a PC running Windows 7. Thanks

    • @DanielGreenMedia
      @DanielGreenMedia 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I know I'm late to the party, but here's a likely solution. When pre-comping your green screen footage, be sure to select "move all attributes into the new composition" or else you won't end up with an alpha from the pre-comp.

  • @markdonohoe4926
    @markdonohoe4926 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great tutorial, but when i create the light wrap it takes the wrap from the center of the image, but my on screen talent is standing off right, so she is not necessarily being wrapped by the exact background she is in front of, am i missing something or is this just the case, I see your talent is dead center.

    • @LongLiveMikey
      @LongLiveMikey  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mark Donohoe the one "Gotcha" with this method, is both layers have to be the exact same resolution and size, so you might have to precompose one to make them match.

    • @guy_incognito
      @guy_incognito 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I combined different layer sizes -- a square greenscreen layer, precomped into a 1080 frame, and a non-standard BG pic. Look at your Set Matte settings and make sure you uncheck "Stretch Matte to Fit" which seems to default to on.

    Hi Mikey :) I would change this technique just a bit to add more flexibility. I would precomp the keyed footage using "leave all attributes" and not "move all attributes", and hit the collapse switch. if I need to change any transform of the background I would so the same. this technique demonstrated in this tutorial th-cam.com/video/Qqk7IAPqsQ0/w-d-xo.html
