I got the bench plate when they were first released.. the inserts they included were undersized and I had my Loadmaster come crashing down on me one day while loading some 9mm. I "fixed" the problem by using some 1/4 inch hitch pins thru the wood/bench plate and the bench. Those plates aren't going anywhere. I use the bench plate for everything... APP/ACP/RCBS Jr single stage/MEC 600 Jr. . My bench is small so I have to use every inch wisely. That's a great idea on the Trim pro! Outstanding!! Wish I had though of that.
Good morning Papa's that would real suck to have had a press hit the floor. Sounds like you have fixed that issue 😉👊 ... thanks again for stopping by and watching Brother 😊👍🇺🇸
Thanks, downloaded the template I needed from Lee's website. Wasn't aware they had them posted for each indivdual press until i went there. Easier than the universal template.
I also have the Lee Bench Mounting Plate on my bench. Or at least I did. I replaced the Phillips head screws with Allen head screws too. One day, I tightened the screws too tight and stripped one of them. Having a brother with a shop, I took it to him to see what we could do. Now, we could have drilled out the bad hole and tapped it, but the others would not be the same size. We could have drilled all the holes and tap them, but we found that the metal used was not as strong as it should be. He had some steel, so we made a new base plate out of better steel. I don't know what grade or composition steel it was, but it was harder than what Lee provided. We drilled the holes and tapped the 4 that needed to be tapped. He also had 4 Allen head screws that were longer than the ones I brought. When the base was mounted on my bench, I marked where the Allen screws were. I then drilled holes in the wood bench to allow them to recess just a little. What this does is allow all the threads to engage the tapped threads in the plate, not just the first few of the screw. It feels much sturdier now. I am going to make a new oak plate for my trimmer just like you did. Thanks for the video.
Mornin man!!! I really like these plates!! Been wanting to route one flush with top but havent done it yet. I have made then out of steel and oak. Didnt like ply or pine. I also would weld a nut as plate is thin. Also would go to 1/4-28 nut cause its a better thread. THEN route flush.
Oh I like the idea of routing it in flush with the bench top. Oak will work well for sure. I have access to finished plywood most of the time and for this little item it is perfect 😉👊👍🇺🇸 Thanks again CW😁
This is what I used. They have to be modified by bending the end tabs in order to screw to the bench. They are metal and work awesome. Wall Control Pegboard 14in Accessory Hanger Tool Holder Bracket Pegboard Accessory for Wall Control Pegboard and Slotted Tool Board - Red a.co/d/46TUlaK
Awesome idea.
Thanks for watching Brother😉 always appreciated 👍👊🇺🇸
Great information! I will make one out of plywood to mount my Lee Loadall shotshell press. 😃
Right on, Brother 👍 ... thanks for stopping by and watching 👊 👍 🇺🇸
