Thank you for all the feedback! A lot of people have suggested making a "Part O" or "Intro" video to the existing series covering important preliminary info, instead of changing anything on the existing videos. I think this is a really good approach. I'm not sure when I'll add them but now I have some kind of plan going forward.
I'm working on the first episode of the next tutorial series and I'm very exited to release it. Thank you all for the kind words and the support!

On the issue of adding new information to existing playlists:
In maths, we often begin our theses with a "Chapter 0: Preliminaries", which is a dedicated chapter containing everything the audience needs to know before you can actually start with the subject itself (explaining things like special notation, prior knowledge, expected reading...)
I know it sounds kooky, but the reasoning is that this isn't actually part of the thesis proper, and as such, can't be labeled as "part 1", so it has to be part 0 instead.
I might be biased, but something like a chapter-0-video where you explain how to read your measurements & how to prepare the terrain beforehand sounds like the exact thing you're looking for, considering that those types of things aren't really part of the building process itself!

    • @SixWings
      @SixWings  หลายเดือนก่อน +18

Thanks for the suggestion. Others have mentioned something similar and since the video will be a short form and to the point video, it makes more sense to call it something like "Part 0" or "Intro" since it's there to clarify things that are already in the main series. Also, my idea of naming it Part 1 and renaming all the other, runs the risk of confusing a lot of people that are in the middle of building. Good suggestion!

    • @SixWings
      @SixWings  หลายเดือนก่อน +7

That's really good to hear. Usually I will hear from people that are confused by aspects of a video and people that goes through a series smoothly will either not post anything or post a positiv comment that doesn't reference specifics. So it can be difficult to know what percentage of people run into trouble.

Six, the fact you are able to make full tutorials for these incredible builds is a statement to your skills and dedication. I can't imagine just how many hours it takes for you to create a design, build, record, edit, do commentary, and upload. As many of the comments suggest, you work is inspiring and so fun to even just watch you put together a world and storyline behind each build. I think making a Part 0 would be great to keep things in order and act as a preliminary video to help people get ready for the good stuff. Thank you for the work you put in!

I said it to you back when you were still uploading the episodes for the Dragon Palace, and it hold true now: You don't owe content to anyone, and I appreciate you for your offerings.
I have wanted to build Emberheart Castle for a while, but in my own on-going world. I 100% recognize that it is dependent on the terrain, and I fully plan to landscape for the build, but what I would need for that is to know the elevation differences, as well as the distances between each component of the build, in a case like that. Otherwise, I'd spend hours combing through the videos trying to ascertain exactly how to begin, and for a married father of two, I simply cannot dedicate that much time. Again, you don't OWE content to anyone, but as you're asking for suggestions, that's the only one I have, and that's only for a terrain/context-specific build.
Otherwise, I have always found your tutorials very easy to follow, which is part of why I became a dedicated follower of your channel. The addition of the crosshairs and interface, as well as the game showing the names for blocks and such is a welcome addtion, but it wasn't something the lack of which was a barrier to following your videos, in my case at least.
Nothing but love to you for your offerings, and I continue to look forward to your new projects.

I recently completed Emberheart in survival and how I started was noting that the wall between tower 2 and tower 3 is 20 blocks long, and then used that as a baseline! I started with tower 2, then the wall between tower 2 and 1, and so on ^^ it sounds tedious but thankfully with it all being broken up into timestamped chapters it's relatively easy. Not sure if this will help at all regarding the landscaping, but it's how I started out ^^

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. And thank you for the suggestion. Emberheart Castle was probably the most difficult build to create a series around and I went with the single coordinate solution, because I blueprint would've been messy because nothing aligns. But knowing what I know now, I would probably add it anywhere. Probably a 2D-plan with additional numbers for the height different. When I get around to making a "Part 0", this is probably one of the things I'll add.

As a long time viewer, I personally don't believe in tutorials. I believe in art lessons. An expert, and in this context, yes you are one, would just share his tips, advice and everything inbetween to the viewers. As making those tutorials takes so much time, I pray that you don't burn out and stop uploading other content. I am even worried that all the time you spend making tutorials is the time you are not building something new or planning to build something new. I would much rather never see another tutorial from you, if instead I could just gaze at your endless creativity and masterful cinematography. Your cinematic videos of your incredible, stunning builds are the core of your channel. By all means make tutorials if that's what you want and enjoy doing, but please don't feel like you owe it to the viewers. You don't owe us anything. I love just watching you build. It feels like witnessing magic.

    • @SixWings
      @SixWings  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Thank you! It's really nice to hear this perspective too. My "Thinking Inside the Box" video was an attempt at just that and I would like to do more videos talking about my approach. That video was probably the most time-consuming of all my videos and that includes the building part of other videos. Nobaby watched it, unfortunately, but I never regretted making it, not one bit.
When it comes to burnout, it's like I said in the last part of this video. I need to create new builds and interesting videos because that's what fuels me. And since these tutorials take so much time, people will have to wait for month or even years untill I get to the tutorial they specifically want, even if I were to only create tutorials. So I might as well just make the types of videos I want to make. But yeah, thank you for giving that perspective.

@@SixWings I watched your "Thinking Inside the Box" video at least thrice. < 3
I absolutely loved it and I wished for more of those.
I consider myself a decent builder but I've always struggled to create large builds and make them look impressive and detailed. Yours are absolutely jaw-dropping. I've tried to mimic your style of large builds, but to no avail, albeit after realising your major is in architecture and mine in English language and culture I stopped beating myself up too much regarding my builds. Your approach video inspired me so much, that I went to the bookstore and bought a giant tome of about 500 pages of history, floor plans, and plethora of pictures of old Renaissance and Baroque mansions of my country as well as some neighbouring ones. It has served me well and I've just been skimming it for hours once a week just for leisure. Best purchase I've ever made. I am eternaly grateful for your channel, that inspires me greatly.

I built the Sanctum in survival, it took me 3 months. Here are some suggestions:
    - In the stairs part, it was very confusing, because the towers are rotated in different directions, if I follow exactly in the tutorial, which is for only one tower, it won't work for the other towers. it will be like few blocks higher or lower. My sugguestion is to give a starting point of each tower in each direction, like where you should place your first block to build up the stairs, then the rest will be the same.
    - sometime I find it difficult to follow in survival. In some parts, you build from the top down, then come back to some very high towers, which is tricky to do do in survival because I build from the bottom to top.
    - For the old video, I think it is easy to follow in general, for the less effort, I would suggest add (read description) in the title and give the information there, or just make a short video as a supplement, and put it in the description. I think it is the best for your views and you can earn the most from it.
Nonetheless, I think you have amazing tutorials even without changing anything, but sure you can make it even better

First of all, I really like your builds and they give me a lot of insperation on builds that I build myself (of course not as good as yours). Right now, I'm building the Mausoleum in my hardcore world and I already have another build of yours in mind to make next. There is one build that I think I'll build after those 2, but there isn't a tutorial yet, which isn't a problem since the other 2 builds will take a long time and it also depents on whether I'm still alive in my world. Hello sixwings ! I'd first like to say thank you for your dedication, most of youtubers makes their tutorials, trying to make them understandable, but I've never seen any video like yours before.
One of my projects in the server I play on, is to build The Sanctum, I find this build truly beautiful. I'm almost done with part 3.
Even though your tutorials are clear for mooost of their parts, often, you build some blocks, or parts, and then realize you haven't done it well and you destroy them.
I'd also like to mention that, in part 2, you build the first side of arches and spires, then show the other side, but ... not doing it in the same order, and if I'm not wrong missing parts we built during the first side. I ended up taking back the tutorial for the first side, and mirroring it in my head to build the second, I wanted to be sure to have them perfectly symetrical.
I may be dramatizing a bit, and once again, for the videos length and the effort you put into it, those tutorials are already really good, but this video you just made shows you want to improve from feedback, so ... I'm giving mine :)
The fact you showed the amount of blocs needed was also incredibely helpful, thank you for that
For the 2 options, I believe the second one to be the best, though it depends on how much details you want to point out. If there are too much, then I guess option 1 is better.
And sorry for my english, I'm not a native speaker and I'm trying to not use a translator :)

Thank you for caring what we think! lol
Seriously though, I wouldn't stress too much about the terrain. I look at your builds, and when I decide I want to build one, I go looking for a terrain that I think will fit...and adjust either parts of the terrain, or the build accordingly!
I'm glad you're addressing the issue, so we know how YOU count the dimensions, since we all potentially think differently. It might not be a bad idea to have video where you just explain your method(s), and then you can just refer people to it, in "part one" of each series.
Finally, thanks for all the AMAZING builds! I hope you keep at it for years to come!

I love the ability to have your builds in our own worlds. With new updates slightly changing seed structures, I feel it is important for the builds to be flexible enough to be built on any seed. It would suck if the coordinates of your tutorial be changed with a new biome for example reshaping the terrain. I'm working on the Mausoleum right now which can easily be relocated and plan to come back to build more once it is finished. Keep up the amazing work :)

Thank you so much for creating all of your wonderful building designs and allowing us the opportunity to build and use them in our game play. I think by making a new first video with all the info needed and adding it to the groups of videos would work best. I know this would give you extra work on your already long an amazing tutorials it would clarify a few things for the people who might get confused with some of the things that can sometimes get lost during the build process. My favorite way to go about following and finishing your build tutorials is to use a single player creative world and build a section then use lightmatica to make a schematic of the section and add the sections together till I have completed the build. I can then use those schematics to place the building into my chosen map or at least try to find a good place to put the building. I have also been considering to use all of your work in a server build but was holding off due to wanting to get your permission for this use and also making sure to include crediting you as the original designer for the builds.

I really want to try following one of your tutorials that relies heavily on terrain. It will give me a reason to explore more, and to spread my builds out across a larger area in my survival world. I feel like that would have a more "world building" feeling when zooming around on elytra, instead of seeing a bunch of castles and different architecture styles all grouped within a few hundred blocks of each other.

    • @SixWings

I agree. Using the existing terrain is a great way of giving the builds purpose in a sense. For Crestlink Castle I really tried using every bit of existing terrain as the base of the build. Even though some of it looks a bit random or messy, every tower is placed deliberately on supported ground. I want to do a video on that subject, I think.

    1) Changing video titles is confusing if anything is. Just making a new video for old tutorial series, titled "Primer" or "Foundation" would work, because it is made out of sequence. Then making new tutorials with regular episode numbering but longer early phase would work.
    2) The spectacular builds are the reason I keep coming back to this channel, so limiting your creativity for tutorial-friendliness would be shame. Your builds are the best I've found in the scene, so please continue making them as intricate as you feel like. Make a variety of builds and prioritize tutorials for builds that are more tutorial-friendly organically. Awesome builds are the core, tutorials are a nice bonus.
    3) Please don't push too much for tutorials, deadlines or other things that don't come up naturally in your flow. That increases the risk of creator burnout, and potentially stifles creativity and output. The more effortless the process, the richer the result.
    4) Videos like this that talk about and around the process are very interesting. Your approach and quality are what makes it fascinating, so I welcome even more varied content.

Thank you so much for this in depth comment. I very much resonate with everything you wrote. Really appreciate it.
I definitely want to create shorter videos like this one, covering some of my design principles. This format is problably more digestible for the average viewer than a long video going over several subjects on building. I already have two in mind.

Thank you so much for your amazing video's and tutorials. I have built several in my world and look forward to more. I had some trouble with the Emberheart castle because i built it in my existing world, and it was confusing to try to get the towers in the right place. I had to place a tower, then build some of the wall, then build another tower. I like it when you talk in the tutorials at some of the critical parts. I understand you dont want to do it all the time. I think a short pre-video would be helpful before starting the main tutorial to explain some of the nuances of the build would be great, like what kind of terrain would be best and a list of materials so people who are building in survival can get some of it together before starting the build. im not quite sure where I can place the next build in my world, but im sure i will find a place :)
Thanks again for all you do !!

Thank you so much and great to get your feedback. Moire commentary is probably always more helpful and I'm also getting more comfortable doing it, so that makes it easier. Glad you enjoy following my tutorials!

I love your builds and I love your tutorials! I even build the emberheart castle twice. In survival. The first time I made my own drawings and calculations based on the timelapse and the second time following your tutorial. In both worlds I made my own custom terrain/mountain for the castle. Also, I followed your tutorial on the mausoleum in survival mode. I didn’t encounter any problems with counting blocks or measurement errors in both tutorial series, or which block to use. When I compare both builds, I personally enjoyed building the emberheart castle more the then mausoleum due to it’s complexity and more developed interior. So I would love to see more of those kind of tutorials in the future. For the next build in my survival world, I hesitate between following your tutorial on the emerald castle, or trying to rebuild crestlink castle (damn, so many mudbricks! 😂) based on the Timelapse just like I did with emberheart castle and the Arch towers. Thx for all the effort you put in your builds and tutorials!
P.s. I would call the new parts ‘part 0’.

That's crazy! That's real dedication. In regards to the new series on The Emerald Cathedral, I give some suggestion for other block palettes (some of the others I actually prefer), so you shoudl check out the first episode to see if it speaks to you.

Hi, I recreated the sanctum in my own survival world and even tho it took me 4 month to finish,I absolutely love it! I changed the roof for red nether brick and it looks awesome. I started the mausoleum last week and can't wait to spend another 4 months to build it. I think your tutorials are really well done and easy to follow. And I also really love your building style!

Option 2 is more linear & uniform. Should be less confusing. The tutorials are so very helpful when thinking/planning out mass-building programs. Love the werks - keep them coming! 🙂

Hi, I’m 宗霖 王. Due to my long working hours, I often have to make use of fragmented time for creating. I’ve been searching for hardware that makes building more convenient for me, such as the MSI Claw. However, it didn’t suit my needs, so I unsubscribed, which forced me to give up on the Java version. At that time, I started following Mausoleum.
Recently, I’ve been using a 13-inch iPad Pro paired with a PS5 controller to play the Bedrock Edition, along with watching tutorials on my phone. I think this has finally solved my problem, and I plan to resubscribe. I really admire your foundation work-you’re the only one who puts effort into those unseen areas. If I recall correctly, your foundations go over 50 blocks deep, something other Minecraft builders wouldn’t bother with. It reminds me of Apple’s design philosophy.
I’d like to suggest that adding videos might be a better approach. Save the perfect tutorial videos for later.
