I have a friend who introduced me to disc golf. He had a portable setup so we could play at work during lunch. We had lots of fun until he moved away. I just got a beginner set with a portable basket for Christmas with extra discs and had fun setting it up and practicing. got my 7 year old into it as well. His birthday is in 2 weeks so I think I'll take him to the local disc golf course in town so we can really try it out!
thank you! If you play traditional golf, you already understand the basics of disc golf, so you are way ahead. 😁 There are courses all over the world, so you should look into sometime!
First TH-camr I've watched that coralated arm speed with the speed of the disc. That makes a lot of sense thank you! Also the first person to mention that the fade and turn will be opposite for people who are left handed like myself. I have already figured this out but well done for including this info!
I ended up going with the Wraith, Eagle, Shako3, and Invader. My arm speed is probably a bit lacking for the Wraith's full potential right now, but I have been able to get better each time I give it some practice throws.
nevermind a set, if you are brand new get yourself a putter and a Buzzz. and in fact for your first couple rounds only use the putter until you understand the control required for throwing. if you start out and try to throw a driver you are going to get discouraged really quick. still a great video and advice, this is just my opinion.
Smaller hands? For kids and adults with smaller than average hands I would look at MVP Discs for their midranges 5 and 6 speeds since they are shallower than most discs.
I think a lot of companies out there make excellent discs. But I usually suggest getting only one or two distance drivers until you know how to master them. Anything 12 speed an under are good. Honestly though, I use fairway drivers the most. I find them more controllable, unless there is a hole with a wide open field where I can throw a distance driver really far.
Hey. Good video. I am actually starting a disc golf connect group this semester at City of God Church - Tampa, just found your channel today. Is there anything that you found extremely useful in helping people learn the game and also to help new players feel more at ease fellowshipping in this way? Looking forward to watching some more of your videos. We just started playing back in July so still learning things as we go. TIA
So one thing I did with my small group was alter the flow of the game to be quicker. If you have even a few people, it will drag the game and people will be waiting for most of the game. So I split the group into two teams, and we would play the farthest shot. Then we would play 9 holes at a time. That was still a good chunk of time, but it felt faster in pace. The team dynamic made a little fun rivalry. At the end I would give candy to the best team, which was always a fun gag gift.
I just started very much a beginner have a friend I haver been playing with who has been playing for years. Trying to get out and play a round at least once a week
Most Beginners should not grab a driver for distance. Usually it will just fade early. Use a driver only after you get your putter and driver to go straight and it starts to turn and fly under stable.
@@BeastMadeReviews i been watching videos about it, seems this sport has been around for awhile, but I never seen or heard of it till now.. I just watched some tournament. Pretty interesting sport. Thanks
Yes! There are different places online that will dye a disc with ink. I would look that up first. I haven't done it personally, but I have friends who have had it done or even did it themselves. There's also a service with Dynamic Discs called their Dyemax process that allows you to upload an image and have them print it on a new disc bought from their store. I've done that with the pizza disc shown in the video, and I love it. I'm going to get a couple more.
I just started two and a half months ago. I am 51 years old and not an athlete by any means and I have already making use of the Escape that came with my starter set. Do I throw it 400+ feet like a pro? No. Do I throw it a lot farther that the Truth and get it to follow it's intended line in flight? Yes. With some good instructional videos and a few weeks practice, anyone with the potential to have decent arm speed can properly use a 9 speed disc pretty soon after starting. Will a 10 year old make use of it? No, but most moderately capable older teens and adults can work up to it quickly with proper practice. My 5 speed can go about 250 feet, max. I aced a 274 foot left to right shot around a tree with a Latitude 64 Opto Air Diamond with flight numbers of 8/6/-3/1. I've thrown a Getaway (9/5/-0.5/3) over 300 feet regularly. In under 3 months of picking up my first disc. It all comes down to what you define as "beginner". Should someone start out throwing a 9 speed on their first day? Nope. But to me, "beginner" is quite a broad term in disc golf. Maybe 4-6 months depending on how often they play and practice.
I’m actually interested in the church group you formed. Is it still going. And what do you actually do. Is it more or just getting together with guys to play or do you use it as for a bible study or ??
The way I had it set up was that we went to a local course and did the front 9 one week and the back 9 the following week. I always took the time to say something short, and then pray at the end. Currently it's not going on. For a while, I had a few people who would come every week, then over time it dwindled until I couldn't form a game. I may start it up again in the future though.
Do you like disc golf? What are your favorite discs?
My suggestions here: amzn.to/3amTzA0
Great starter discs are Innova Shark or Stingray or Maco 3. You can play the whole course with any of these... It's a blast.
I like my mid drive pearl and my pearl putter both by latitude 64

My cousin played disc golf and our friends play and my neighbor plays and they got me into it
I like Frisbee golf. It’s a great casual outdoor activity
yes!
This was a GREAT vid Daver! I'm a regular golfer, but definitely feel like a needed an intro into this sport. I learned a LOT from this guide.

Good stuff. Just started playing the sport yesterday and I’m hooked. Very informative video.
Great to hear!
This video helped me understand the rating numbers better, especially in regards to the speed number. Your explanation helped it make sense.
thank you! Glad it helped!
Great video! Very helpful. Have never played before, but coming from golf to disc golf and I’m looking forward to playing my first round this weekend!
Have fun! Thanks for watching!

Awesome, thank you!
My church has a large campus with a playground and I think it would be nice to add a small, three hole par 3 disk golf area.

Great video. Love the small group idea. Been wanting to do that at my church as well.
Thanks for the advice ! We just started playing and our first time out we actually met Ken climo at the course !
That is awesome! What a fantastic memory!
I've never played but I want to try it. Thanks for the instructional video.
glad to help!

thanks for your input!
I own several buzzz discs, they’re awesome straight flying discs
Nice job! Great video!! Super informative and you explain things really well!!
Thanks so much!
good info, had to watch it again and took a few notes, Many Thanks

Discmania Active line discs are made by Yikun in China. The quality is good.
Played my first nine this morning with some dynamic discs. Got 18 over which isn't bad from what my friend said
Not bad at all! Hope you enjoyed it!
@@BeastMadeReviews I honestly never thought I would, but I love it
Very helpful for a new player here! Thanks!
Glad to help!
Any disc golf drivers you would recommend for someone with more mid-level skill?

Going disc golfing tomorrow with my youth group for the first time, pretty nervous lol.
haha! It should be great! I'm sure you will all have a lot of fun.
Holy crap dude. I’ve been watching and didn’t even know you were at my home course. I just left there haha!
Haha! That’s cool! The thumbnail was shot at Medal Of Honor too. 😁
I really dig and appreciate the information. Was very informative 👌 I'm a noob player and looking to learn all I can before i hit the fairway again
Glad it was helpful! Have fun! I'm actually going to play tomorrow afternoon. 😎

There’s nothing wrong with a disc fading early. I think it’s better to get a few essential discs and learn how to use them as you play.
That's really cool, I never even heard of it.. Seems like fun . Great video enjoyed it.
thank you! If ever have the chance, check it out some time! It's a lot of fun, with an easy learning curve. 🙂

Thank you for the view great small group idea.
Any time!
I love your Small Group t-shirt!!! And great content as well. I wish you luck! Thank you.

killer video man
thanks!
Great video! Laughed some, learned alot! Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Ok I literally just thought of the idea yesterday, what do I do
How stoned should I be when I play disc golf?
On a scale of 10? For me, zero. But judging from the aromas I get from the course sometimes, it must be a solid 6-7 for some people. 😂
I find you guys’ discs in obvious places frequently. It’s like you forgot where you threw it 😂
CD2: minimum throw speed of 9 is too high for a beginner. try something like the Wombat3 (5 6 -1 0)
oh I completely disagree. I thought it was perfect. This was one of my first discs, and is still one of my favorites.

Do u need golf shoes for disc golf
No you don't. Any shoes will do.
Its a small world, I watch fragrance bro's too.
thank you!
Thanks. God bless
Same to you!
My sun liked this set and worked well for casual use from Walmart with Dynamic Discs 5 Disc Prime Burst Disc Golf Starter set.
Good to hear!
Just dudes being guys and guys being dudes.
totes mcgoats
You lost me at brodie smith.
Let's state the obvious. This is not a sport, just like traditional golf isn't a sport. It's a game.
well I guarantee if you put it in a category, it won't be under the "games" category
It's a sport bud
Bowling is also considered a sport, keep that in mind
Ok shut up with the regular golf comparisons 🤣🤣. You’re wrong about a lot of it.
What am I wrong about specifically? Because everyone else disagrees with you.
TMI for first timers!
I disagree.
