Nice summary of the X-S20. I've had the X-S10 since its release and am really satisfied with it, and the X-S20 has all the upgrades I would expect in a successor. With the two card slots, you can work around it by recording video to an Atmos and one to the internal SD card, so you have redundant storage for video at least.

Think the x-s20 is a real sweet spot - the small size, big grip, and new processors really just make this great to use, more so each day. This has been my intro to fuji, very nice complement to the z8. Can't really completely bridge the UX differences with the nikon, but from a behavior point of view it's really just what I was looking for - excellent image quality, nice physical handling, solid AF, and probably enough spare processor to see some firmware improvements over time. Will see how this plays out, but right now unexpectedly happy with these as a pair - similar, but each better at some things than the other, so very complementary.

This camera fit me perfectly. Great grip, lightweight, onboard flash for those 90s nighttime shots, great autofocus, open gate 10bit video, all new simulations and last but not least - IBIS. Only thing I'm missing is more of the retro aesthetic that X5/X100V/X-Pro3 has. Had the X5 had a better grip and onboard flash, I would probably have gone for it.

i do think that the XT4 has also a better EVF and being that this is the reason why i prefer using that over my XS10 (which should have the same EVF as the 20) is another point in it's favor. I had to add an additional grip on it, however. In this regard the ergonomics of the x-s line are better than the X-T ergos.

Has a sweet hidden feature for us log shooters
If you use flog 2 the dual gain iso kicks in at iso 3200 and cleans up the noise in the video, now you can slap in the Fuji official luts or phantom, earth luts or grade it the way you want and get the benefit of clean image in low light, plus the noise pattern is like filmic grain that is super super super easy to clean up in post
This thing is a beast in low light when paired with fast primes like the Siriu t.1.2 nightstalker lenses
Or the Tamron 17-70 f2.8 zoom
Also can output raw 12bit 4.2.2 all intra video through HDMI externally.
It's a beast for video when rigged out and cold well

From memory based on what mode/res you are because it’s got 8k pixels and outputs 4k it does one of the following
      1. Various Crops and only reads a part of the sensor
      2. I think some of them read the entire sensor and then scale down the output, and it readout speed isn’t great so you get a lot rolling shutter

But it is bigger, heavier and auto focus in video is not as good as the X-S20, I went for the X-S20. Weather sealing, what happened to the old trick of a plastic bag. To suggest professionals do not or will not use cameras with one card slot is not true. Weddings or events with one camera setup, sure, probably not for the faint hearted, but thats why one carries more than one. Leica Q2/3, fujifilm X100V, Leica M10 etc have all been and are still used by professional photographers. Sometimes I think the One Card slot is the new paranoia.

It's really funny because the price of this camera that I saw advertised in Australia was that it was very similar to the XH2S... So I wouldn't go for this camera given that that camera has better specs. In fact it's very similar price to a XT4 and I think you're getting a better overall package with an ex-T-4 than this camera. I'm not criticising Fujifilm I think the S 10 was great, but I don't feel the S-10 really needed an upgrade. To be honest I felt that camera was actually really good and I don't see any major huge leak going from the S 10 to the S 20 to be honest but I can understand why they want to release a new model, and this model does appeal to content creators because it's light in small so I suppose from that perspective and content creators to like upgrades. Maybe us Photography people not so much.... Honestly, the S-10 focused pretty well. I did one shoot where I took 400 shots of people at a corporate event and I think I missed about 10 shots 15 maybe but I always took multiples anyway, so not a big deal in terms of the auto focus, every camera will miss at some stage

Honestly after using cameras both with and without weather sealing, with and without two card slots (yes in professional settings!), I'm over the whole worry and panic about weather sealing and the two card slots. Unless you're shooting a crucial moment that can never be recreated (say a wedding), I'd say you're worrying too much about the possibility of cards failing. Also the X-S20 (like all other non-weather sealed cameras) will probably not fall apart just because of a drizzle outside. Unless you're shooting in the pouring rain, odds are your camera will be fine.
The only reason I would consider the X-T4 over the X-S20 is the EVF, because that's a palpable everyday quality of life aspect. But sacrifice that in favour of better autofocus? That depends on what you shoot. If you shoot dogs like I (partially) do, then hell yes! Screw the EVF, go for the better AF! If you shoot portraits, street or landscape... screw the X-T4 get the X-T3 for even less money and you'll still be very happy!

Let me ask you something, when on earth you had a problem with the card reader? Or how many time. 😂Exactly.......I never had. Why are people so desperate....no idea. The chances to have a problem with your card reader are so tiny, especially if you use good cards, that is more likely to get in an accident going to your client photoshoot rather than having a card failure....Mind blowing.....its a pointless worry. Just saying...math doesn't lie😂😂.

I’ve had I think 4 incidents in 10 years, if that was 4 weddings I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night! Thankfully for me it was issues with TH-cam videos and that’s it! Because well I wouldn’t do a paid shoot without backup, And if you’re curious, they’ve been a combination of Sandisk and Lexar, the maths indeed does not lie 😂😂

@@Goughie you must be unlucky man.🫤 Never heard of anyone having this kind of problem to be honest. But hey, if that makes you sleep better, then why not. Its crazy that happened to you 4 freaking times...Can't believe it ..😂😂😂

I bought 4 XHS II cards for my X-T5.
I had problems with two. In fairness Lexar customer service was top notch and I got two replacement cards. The other two are fine as are the replacements.
There is a case for considering risk. Everybody has to weigh up their own circumstances.
The recent Western Digital (who own the SanDisk brand) issues are case in point.

You didn't mention main Fuji flaws : No reliable AF-c in Video mode , Ibis wobling , no tap focus to select subject for af-c in video ( this is paininaass)
Still no stab in 6.2k mode ?
If you more doing photography and don't wait a lot from this camera as a video camera so it will be good choice.

Since the new gen I’d argue that AF-C is more than capable now! Likely still not sony levels but good enough for 99% of things, I can’t remember when I last deleted a clip because it was wrong
The cameras gone back so I can’t check… pretty sure IBIS and OIS both work on 6.2k… definitely does on the XH2S can’t see why it wouldn’t move over

The afc in video mode is excellent for general use. Not Sony's level but very very capable. It has also excellent ibis far better than any sony that i have used with little to no wobble even on 13mm. (Far better than the xt-4 on that aspect). Also 6.2k ofc has Ibis. This little camera for the price point is one of the best choices for hybrid use.

@@GeorgeKalokairinos you can not use touch tracking ... how can you choose subject to track if there more than one person in frame ?

    • @GeorgeKalokairinos
      @GeorgeKalokairinos 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@mex5341 It doesn't have advanced tracking system. But when you click on someones face it does track it without switching to anothers person face. It's not 100% reliable though. In real life situation you don't need something more than that. In a lab ofc something like Sony is gonna win on that subject by a mile.
