I have been extract brewing for 25 years. Never looked forward from there, except for
switching from a glass carboy fermenter to the Fastferment. This is a great product
and will reduce the equipment you need. ( My first beer was an amber made with any thing I could find in my wife's baking cupboard ) It got me started in this hobby.
    Extract brewer for life !

Nice way to honor your 20th year of brewing. My 20th is next year. Now I need to start thinking of a throw back brewing video too.

Revisit your first kit. I think there's something to that. - John

My first brew was also an Irish red ale from northern brewer...I remember being so tense not to screw up and risk of infection. But I was in the moon after a month when the ale was ready. From that day , I've never bought mass produced macro lagers ever again.

Cake, beer cake? LOL! That said 'HM the Wife' uses all kinds of beer as an ingredient. A really useful and helpful video guys. It looks like I'll be buying a large pot and moving on to boiling a wort with a similar kit very soon. Looking fwd to seeing the results - thanks and cheers.

Nice change of pace fellas. Good trip down memory lane. Brewing your first batch of beer should come with an addiction notice...ONCE YOU BREW, YOU'LL GET HOOKED!

Fun bit down memory lane. Would be cool to see ya'll brew an equivalent all-grain version and taste test compare the two after. In a vid of course.

Interesting idea for sure... I'll need to taste this recipe first, but I supposed I could wing it with Pilsen Malt and the same 4oz of Roasted Barley. Sometimes even though it says Pilsner LME it might have a touch of low lovibond crystal in it. I'll have to look it up though.... I like this idea. CHEERS! -Mike

Thanks for this video - did you do a follow up showing the process of getting to original gravity, monitoring fermentation, secondary fermentation (or skipping it!) And best practices in conditioning and kegging?
    Thanks, again!

Nice vid, but a couple of helpful reminders: 1) You'll get better hop utilization if you put in one jar of extract at the beginning of the boil and wait to add the other near the end (at around five or ten minutes left). 2) You can chill your just-boiled wort in an ice bath in the sink to get it down to pitching temps faster.
    Thanks and keep 'em comin'!

The three most important things to know about brewing, sanitation, sanitation and sanitation! =)

    • @BrewDudes
      @BrewDudes  4 ปีที่แล้ว

True that. So much beer has been poured down the drain because of bad cleaning and sanitation practices. - John

Looks like you poured both hops in at the same time shouldn't you have put the aroma hop in the last 15 minutes of the boil.

We swear we added the hops at the right times in the boil. - John
