ante one little correction for this amazing writer/
Even when Palestinians say “we killed jews” it is NOT antisemitic.
Palestinians simply refer to the Israelis as Jews it is synonymous and Palestinians don’t use the word Israelis.
It just happened that the colonizers are ALL Jews, if they were Buddhists they would not say Israelis they would say the Buddhists.
When their land was stolen in 1948 the thieves themselves self identified as Jews. Palestinians still have their land stolen from the Jews and they will never concede and call them Israelis and consequently accept they take their land . it’s in the core psychy

Hatred is in the core of Arab Palestinians. Zuheir Mohsen of the PLO:
"The Palestinian people does not exist … there is no differences between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians, and Lebanese", though Palestinian identity would be emphasised for political reasons. In a March 1977 interview with the Dutch newspaper Trouw he stated that "between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese there are no differences. We are all part of one people, the Arab nation [...] Just for political reasons we carefully underwrite our Palestinian identity. Because it is of national interest for the Arabs to advocate the existence of Palestinians to balance Zionism. Yes, the existence of a separate Palestinian identity exists only for tactical reasons"...

Zionism is the bad actor in this conflict. Neither Muslim nor Jew. It’s not a religious battle. It’s a bad faith geopolitical struggle for land and power on the part of right wing Israelis propped up by westerners who wanted a democratic government in the Middle East in which to safely park. Sorry if this banal answer bothers those that think that it’s some kind of good vs evil, biblical struggle for the Holy Land, but it’s really older than religion itself.

Just one point that’s extremely exaggerated in the west so often to the point that even this woman is influenced by that and how she carefully chooses the words to say.
If the British people were occupying Palestine and there was resistance, and if that resistance did what it did on October 7, what do you think the Hamas fighters would have said once they killed brits? We killed Brits right? It’s plainly obvious to conclude that and whether the British army would have used that to show that these people are barbaric and they hate Brits is irrelevant one would assume, because the Brits army is occupying that land. Then why is Israel is any different and Jews from there different from the Palestinians point of view?

Exactly, Butler seems obsessed in finding interconections between fixed categories of oppresion: colonialism vs. antisemitism. But why is semitism relevant in this case? The fact that she can believe that Hammas attack was possibly motivated by an out of the blue animosity towards jews only shows how powerful the jewish paranoia can be...

Does Palestine have the right to exist?

    • @paulamarsh1
      @paulamarsh1 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

It was always a region, a somewhat sleepy backwater of the Ottoman Empire. No oil, sparsely populated...only the geographical area was, at various times, known as Palestine (like the Levant, a region, not a state or country, concepts foreign to the Arab world). The inhabitants largely identified themselves as ethnicities, the main being Arab and Jew. Christians, Dhruze, Armenian being some of the other minorities. From the 1960s, well after Israel 's independence, the Soviets /KGB with Arafat began 'marketing' the name Palestinian to mean solely Arab. Even Zuheir Mohsen of the PLO stated this:
"The Palestinian people does not exist … there is no differences between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians, and Lebanese", though Palestinian identity would be emphasised for political reasons. In a March 1977 interview with the Dutch newspaper Trouw he stated that "between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese there are no differences. We are all part of one people, the Arab nation [...] Just for political reasons we carefully underwrite our Palestinian identity. Because it is of national interest for the Arabs to advocate the existence of Palestinians to balance Zionism. Yes, the existence of a separate Palestinian identity exists only for tactical reasons"

Funny how she said Liberation and self determination for Palestinians and " the other peole living there". Just shows how hypocritical she is.
Israelis also deserve Liberation and have the right for self determination and that is why they do not want a 1 state solution but a state of their own and to be able to govern themselves.

Principles work well in USA written soap operas, in real life it is complicated. AND I wonder how 'Butler" would feel if her families home and heritage had been stolen, and she was imprisoned to have her occupier taking pot shots at her and family. Sounds like she can not put herself in other's shoes, THERE WILL NEVER BE PEACE WHILE THE OPPRESSOR IS OPPRESSING.
SAD but true, the thieves oppressors need to go back to their own land. and stop pretending that GOD GAVE YOU ANYTHING, GOD MADE promises to ABRAHAM who was a pagan and to Hebrew and Israelites not JEWS, we have USA /UK to thank for making up another group of peoples

But absolute Jew hatred is so prevalent in significant Muslim communites, espwcially Palestinians. To pretend that especially Oct 7 attacks weren't anti-semitic is outrageous.

I think you'll find it is not Jew hatred - rather it is hatred for the oppressor. You can't ignore the brutal 75 yr oppression. Would you love your oppressor if you were in the same situation?

The important difference is between being anti Jewish and being anti israeli. There is anti semitism in the Muslim world. But it is important to ask whether palestinians are anti israili because they are anti semitic, or are they anti jewish because they are anti israeli. The former is the Iraeli ideological line. But i think the latter is much closer to the truth. When a state commits genocide against one's people, they begin to hate the group that comprises that state. The only way to prevent or begin to correct this is to end the oppression.

You mean, if there were NO occupation - the Palestinians and the muslims would still have hated jews , when there ie evidence of jews living peacefully in the ‘ holy land’ under muslim rule?
Do you know who committed the holocaust against the jews?

Anti occupation is not anti semitic. Muslim and Jews lived in peace until Zionist occupation changed everything.

Jews used to live with Muslims and Christians in the region fairly peacefully till the establishment of Israel as an apartheid colonial state.

"Jew" and "Israeli" are in Arabic language the same world, so what we see as antisemitic in "killing Jews" means actually killing Israeli citizens, i.e. citizens of a settler-colonial regime of occupation. It can be not nice or ethic but has nothing to do with antisemitism, it's indeed the same thing that happened when Algerians were killing French settlers in some attacks in order to pressure for the liberation of their contry from the brutal colonial occupation. According to the UN Charta, occupied people have all the right of armed struggle to liberate their contry. No question about that. This weaponization of "antisemitism" against the armed struggle of Palestinians is absolutely stupid, biased and dangerous. Enough.

Israel is a holy state that gave to the Jewish people to keep it and take care of it and minorities are welcome if they will respect this.
Why so fucking hard to get this.
We have language, culture, law system and deep roots

" holy state" nonsense. I don't believe in god, there is nothing holy about anything.
