I bought my nanoVNA a while ago (H4 standard size), and my tinySA about a year after that. What I love about your videos is how you explore the limits of these devices. I cannot believe how much more capable these two devices are than I had originally thought. I wasn't even aware of the signal generator! 🤯 Now I won't have to power up my ancient Fluke 6071A as often 😅
Note that the former version of FW (as of June 2021) gives up to +16dBm at the "high" output. This is limited to +9dBm at the latest version (23.08.21). And that can be a good idea, as when interconnect the connectors to do self-test and calibration, it's possible to inject 16dBm from the high output to the low input. And exceed the +10dBm limit. However, the tinySA is a *great* tool for everyone into RF.
The video was very helpful. In the low output sig gen mode is it possible to sweep the frequency manually using the stylus? I would like to choose a centre frequency say 10MHz and manually adjust it +/- by a few hundred kHz. Thanks, Mike

Do you think that the couple (Tiny SA and Nano VNA) or (Tiny SA and Scope) would be convenient enough to characterise for example a pass band filter (let's say 7 MHz to 7,3 MHz for the 40m band) …. This would perhaps make a very interesting and nice video !!
I must be silly. I have both a TinySA and a TinySA ULTRA. And an HP SA and an Anritsu SA. And about 4 or 5 other dedicated sig gens. I think I'm making up for my youth when I didn't even have a multimeter. I'm 'very' silly. :)

When using the Tiny SA as a Signal Generator and inject a signal -73 dBm to a receiver, what modulation on the receiver side, shall I use, in order to check if the S-meter indicates S9 as it should?
@@IMSAIGuy The issue is that changing the modulation on the receiver, alters the indication on the S-meter. In AM it's 9+20, when in FM it's 9. At the same time in CW it's 8. The transceiver is an Icom ic 7000. Thank you for your answer!
Your video is tack sharp. Don't apologize for ANYTHING. Background noise is not an issue unless you're going to show us what that noise is from. Critique: You could be a little more organized. If your SA is falling over, fix that before you video. Now, on mine I put a cell phone kick stand on it and some nonslip rubber feet. It will not move. That said, it's obvious you know your stuff. I wrote software for that particular model of HP SA for satellite control back when using the ports on the back (serial). So that scope is like going home again. I hope I haven't discouraged you since I'm a subscriber and want to see more!

Mext time put the oscilloscope and camera higher an control the from below so we get to see the buttons you're pressing and your arm and sleeve does not go in front of the displays all the time. Practice in front of a mirror. I still loved this video and find all your videos interesting. Keep up the content creation but have mrs IMSAI or someone non technical review your presentation techniques. You could use longer pencils or a longer stylus so your hand does not cover the displays of the devices.
LOL, OK, I saw the other video first and as annoyed as I was, I said to myself: "if you can't say something good, just don't say anything at all". Then I I happened on this video immediately after that one. You do seem to have your camera and equipment at a less than strategic location for the position of your hand and body in general. Still, it was a great improvement from the first video, but the eraser on your pencil is too large to tell exactly what it was you were pressing, (especially when you rifled through some of the settings). In the end, I'm left wondering what you connected the Tiny SA cable to when measuring in Low, and when measuring in the High range, why didn't you change the Tiny SA'a cable to the "High" connection? If you did, I must have missed it. The Tiny SA is the only Spectrum Analyzer that I own but I do own several O-Scopes, (analog & digital), and an entry-level SFG. I read or saw a video some weeks ago that said The Tiny SA could be connected to an external SFG but I can't find that information source anymore. I'm afraid of connecting the Tiny SA to my SFG without knowing if I should setup a filter in-line and if I should use the High or Low connection point. The idea was to use my external SFG, which I know is certified and calibrated, to check the accuracy of the Tiny SA and possibly adjust any contradictions displayed in the Tiny SA's readings. At any rate, I'm not even sure if the Tiny SA can be connected to a scope and/or external SFG without a filter let alone if I should use the High or Low connection, (or both). Or just use a cheap high level noise generator and use the SA to sweep the bandpass filter..
AM modulation is typically from 50 to 4000 Hz so you won’t expert Mod of more than 6 kHz on AM

To be able to inject an S9 73dB signal with modulation for signal trace fault finding alone makes it work it.

what ever the receiver receives. as example narrow band FM..
