I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.
@@BigDirtDawg right? I smash bass with glides and other hard swimbaits during the summer in my area. You might be eliminating something that could be dynamite.
😂🤣😆. Great idea Randy! Had me crying laughing in the first 45 seconds! I JUST watched another video that suggested the EXACT same baits you rattled off at the start. 🤣. What NOT to throw was very clever. Love it.
Those baits probably kill it for those people. I use glides and hard swimbaits all summer long and they stay on fire. If you want to put out your opinion that's fine, no need to put down other people.

I agree completely so I won't be the knucklehead who "hammers them" on those baits, now let's see if some of the others follow your lead Randy and do a "worst 5" each month.
Randy you should add the baits that suck each month to your video arsenal. I couldn’t agree more with your comments and feel like this video provided more value than just another repeat of what others are doing. Thanks Randy.
The baits I catch Hot July Largemouth's! Red Shad twister tail worm Texas rigged, Whopper Plopper in Loon color 90 size, DT 6 in Helsinki Shad color, White and CHARTREUSE Double Williow bladed Spinnerbait 1/2 oz and a Chatterbait in CHARTREUSE and White skirt with a Silver flaked White 3.5 inch Paddletail trailer. I have been catching big bass on the Loon Whopper Plopper the most. Big Ole Bluegill's too. I live in Central Indiana. Shawn.
You made me feel like a genius (and I definitely am not). I have never used this lures at this time of year. Thank God , I finally did something right! Good luck fishing everyone!🤟
This was very useful! I agree with your picks because those baits doesn’t seem to shine in the July but in other seasons those baits does have a time and place.
As a newbie, this is very helpful. Speaking for myself, when I’m not getting any hits I change baits/lures/jigs often. So it’s helpful to know what _not_ to tie on.
I get your point on the Alabama rig but if you throw that in a river in the summer almost any river fish will bite it but you'll be lucky if you get a largemouth on one. At least in the south.
Good vid! In my experience during summer, people won't hit hot dogs after June. But if you grill bratwurst and slap a little mustard on it, they will straight pound em.
Surprised to hear the big swimbait. Figured that would be one to throw because forage is going to be bigger by July. But hey, I'll wait until next spring to start throwing my big swimbaits, need a big rod anyways.
My big glide bait bite is the best it's ever been right now. Caught my 5+ pounders the last two weeks on. 9 inch glide than I ever did pre spawn and post spawn. The big bait bite is on big time up shallow in the summer months for me in Illinois
You're not going to get a ton of bites on large swimbaits by default, but the ones you get, will be monsters. So, with respect, I would discount that one.
For the most part true, I've had some days catching a fish every other cast on a 9 inch ms slammer. Most were 1 to 2 pounders. Me and my two Freinds just ended up leaving because we we where sick of catching rats.
One of the first things I heard was bait works in Springfield Missouri, like I go there all the time how have I not met you. I'm from Springfield Missouri.
I know you said it.. but I will disagree on the big swim bait. When I go out, throw at shade where I KNOW fish are there, and they don’t eat the first few baits I throw. I always end with a big swim bait, and more often than not I catch those fish. But those are rare situations so you may still be right.
Anyone who has fished multiple years knows what lures work best for that particular month or time of year. I like the worst lure idea. Maybe do a month’s best vs worst video.
I completely agree with all but one just because I haven’t had a chance to fish an A-rig yet, but I’m glad I didn’t waste time setting mine up. This worst baits list is much more useful than “best baits to use”.
@@avemflamma I’m with you there. I noticed that most anglers touting the Alabama rig usually fish them in huge deep lakes with rocky bottoms. My reservoir has all kinds of junk at the bottom, so in storage it stays.
@@Rage1732 Yeah, I feel like it probably works way better for people with boats who can get up on big schools of shad, but I’m stuck on the shore so my best bet is pretty much just fishing shelter which is just asking to get this thing snagged.
The large swimbaits seem to still get bites but very few from the bass Mostly pike are hitting them. But they are loving that megabass gill and the Berkley gilly right now
Randy,I have caught fish on all of those baits, Of course it wasn't in July! ,I wish you would have told me that years ago. I have thrown those baits in July . I know better now.Thank's
I just recently got into fishing, the only bass that I've caught in the past 3 weeks have been on a lipless crank bait (rattle trap) in the later parts of the evening; I actually caught a 15 inch large mouth and a cat within 2 casts. Then the other lure I've had success on is a Mach prop bait (specifically right after a rain). Caught probably a 2 pounder on that earlier today and I've never had a fish attack that lure like it did today.
fish are more likely to be active on hot ass days during the night. if its like 90 degrees they are more likely to hit something big at night vs in the middle of the day.
I agree with everything and it’s a good list but where I live in Texas I have a freind who throws big glides under docks and he’ll catch some nice bags
Man I used that same big lipless crank bait today and caught a biggen, I think it may just be my lake that they love it so much but I do think on just some cloudier more shady days that does better than hot days like today
Nobody ever talks about the region they fish. Feel like that matters a lot for things like this. Because the bass in Georgia just aren’t acting and eating the same thing as the bass in the mountains off pa. Also I agree for the most part. I do keep a glide bait tide on in our shallower rivers most off the time though.
i would not know one way or the other, haven’t ever tried any of them and am brand new to bass fishing, being aprimarily salt water fisher. And so I have been watching lots of videos. Also, I am “that guy” and have always enjoyed being “that guy” who like to stir up debate or argument with challenger questions. That said, as “that guy”, would there not be regional and local differences in various local lakes and climate conditions where these baits would work just fine in July? As opposed to Mr. Blaukat’s local area where they do not work in July? I’d would like to learn.
so then is it true what is said about the NED rig? anywhere, any time of year? Totally new to bass fishing, been watching lots of vids, mostly experienced with plastics on jigheads in saltwater. And I just love the “idea” of the NED ever since I found out what it was.
I think this is a regional thing. I've actually been using the lipless and glide bait for weeks and catching them but I live down south. The others I agree, I wouldn't use them
see that’s what I was wondering about? would there not be regional difference in types of waters and climate where they might work? Like Texas the water’s gonna get above 80 or even 90 in many spots, whereas way up north a lot of those lakes the water might not get that warm ever.
Can someone explain to me why we consider months of the year instead of region/water temp? Up here in Canada I'm pretty sure with the colder water temps etc, our autumn season is still lower US summer.
I gotta say I'm very confused about why a Alabama rig doesn't really work in summer the fish are out deep and they feed on schooling fish I would assume an Alabama rig would be a great bait but from personal experience it does suck and I don't know why?
Yes I suppose so, but I don't get to fish all these big lakes, for the last 40 years I have mostly fished the rattle trap, crawfish crank and white spinner baits> just this last year started throwing a worm again. Both lakes I fish are small with one being more like a big pond.
Those videos that come out on the first of every month are super predictable, you’re right. I like your alternative approach. Do you have an opinion on throwing a jerk bait in the hot summer months?
Do weather fronts or storms change any of this for you? I ask because last night I fished each end of a storm that rolled through with a shallow diving 6" bluegill glidebait and had 1 follower, 1 bite that came off, and 1 landed fish all within the span of about 30 minutes - which is a very good rate of fish interaction at this particular body of water in mid summer. I guess what I'm asking is, are there any stand out exceptions to this list in terms of conditions?
Because crawfish molt in january when they turn red. Otherwise they are a dark brown/black color. It's not that all craw colors are bad, just pick a brown craw. I'm in south carolina and work for a sporting goods store. We cannot keep A rigs in stock because of people striper fishing at Lake Thurmond. Not trying to be that guy that just disagrees because I get hit on them, but those 2 are consistent and reliable catchers, the other suggestions I agree with.
