    I think you should consider adding “asbestos free” to your purchase checklist. Some of those places had corrugated asbestos roofing. Always check before renovating.

      @friedi.off-grid  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is such an important point!
      Most of the houses I looked at had a simple wooden roof :D
      Also: asbestos would only be problematic in houses after 1950. And most houses are wayyyyyyy older.

    Just to clarify, since you called a "trekammarbrunn" a "well" (which is a source for fresh water),."Trekammarbrunn" is a sewage treatment system.

      Most people will also not care but it will affect you after like a year of exposure.

      @@friedi.off-grid Radon levels are measured and the accepted levels are waaaay away from anything that will affect you during your lifetime.
      You'll find radon in buildings all over the world at much higher accepted levels and many times not even meassured at all, and that's likely why many foreigners haven't even heard of it, eventho they might have been exposed their entire life. If levels of Radon is high, then install some additional ventilation, problem solved. It accumulates in stale air.

    These are very good tips (especially the last one - don't stress - have fun!)) which apply to buying real estate in any country, not just in Sweden, but what I've seen from the internet so far - Sweden is a very beautiful place and definitely worth considering as a future home.
    What a shame - I've only been to Sweden once - in Ulricehamn - and it was ages ago. So you definitely sparked my interest, have to admit :))) ✌
    What I'd like to add .. if you've found a nice property that seems ok, talk also to locals, check the background a little .. so that there are no noisy neighbors nearby .. such people can be a real pain in the a** in long term, believe me.

    You will eventually have to pay for waste disposal services. It is by law, so no way around it - even in the middle of "nowhere" you will have to pay for it. The costs are not astronomical, but you should put aside about 2-300 Euro per year for this. Some get it cheaper, some more expensive. It is partly dependent on what area you happen to end up in.

    • @friedi.off-grid
      @friedi.off-grid  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      300 sounds like a lot of money to me for each household :o

    Thanks Friedi, very useful and interesting. As I live on the other side of the world -NZ, can you give me a broad price range in euros for this type of rural cottage? I note from other channels that some properties come with several outbuildings which is great? Also how far north can you go without getting too extreme?

      Hey mate,
      do you consider moving to Europe?
      You can get a house from 30.000 Euros :)
      What do you consider extreme? :D

    ”Allemansrätt” gives you the right to put up a tent almost anywhere… almost, but not everywhere and not for as long as you want, and you need to behave. Not in someones garden for example. And just for 1 night per place. And behave, dont litter and dont start a forestfire ;-)

    Hi Friedi, thank you for sharing your experience with us 🙏🌳💕✨️
    I am looking for an option to live for some weeks in the middle of nature in Sweden. My hearts longing is to move there with my dogs and dive deep in Mother nature.
    So my question to you: Are you still living in your cabin or is there the opportunity to rent it for 2-3 weeks.
    In my case just for me. Without my dogs in this first experience.
    Looking forward to reading from you.
    Happy weekend 🏡🌳🦋✨️☀️🌷🧘🏼‍♀️💚

    Buying a stock is easy, but buying the right stock without a time-tested strategy is incredibly hard. Hence what are the best stocks to buy now or put on a watchlist? I’ve been trying to grow my portfolio of $260K for sometime now, my major challenge is not knowing the best entry and exit strategies... I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

      I am guided by Jenny Pamogas Canaya . I found her on a CNBC interview where she was featured and reached out to her. She has since provided entry and exit points on the securities I focus on. You can look her up online if you care for supervision.

      I didn´t need a loan. I don´t think swedish banks will give away loans easily judging by their "openess" to foreign money transfers.
