BIG year for Lionel Richie! Singing his hut All Night Long on tour in 1984, same year he sang this song at the Olympics in Los Angeles..1980's he had hit after hit after hit. I 1st met him in 1971 when he was with the Commodores, opening for the 1st tour for the Jackson Five..I always had front row seats,, backstage passes.. I Followed his career all those years, rather all these 50+ years STULL!! He is a big humanitarian as well with his own foundation, with the Prince's Trust. I wish to meet with him personally 1 more time to go full circle 💕💕
Lionel said that he'd sometimes see his friend Michael (Jackson) in the audience in a disguise. But he could recognize him, lol. Michael frequently went to see the Commodores as a teenager.
The 80's...the golden age of music. I don't say the 70's didn't have its Magic, but on the 80's there was a lot of good music going on. Pop, hard rock, thrash, heavy metal, rap, progressive, etc.
unbelievable night! I was a placard bearer for Peru so we surrounded the stage. When it ended I cried all the way home, two of the best weeks of my life!! thank you Lionel and Peter Uberoth
Watching this actually made me tear up a little bit. It doesn't seem like music brings people together like this anymore. I believe it is always possible though.
Same. I go to concerts all the time, and it doesn’t feel like we are connected like we were in the 80s. I miss those days. Now we’re just sounding old, they say
He is amazing. I watched him, from when he was with the commodores and his great solo career. I went to 2 concerts in NY, when I was in high school. The 70's, and once with my mother, when I came to live in florida. I think in 1999. He still had it going on. Even after all those years. He never lost it.
1984 was the best year for music. And when I say that I mean it. Just a year to remember, and you have to live through it to live through. Breakdancing, all of it. For those who didn’t grow up in the 80s, everything you imagine that it was, it was, with 84-88 being its peak. Man…I miss those days
The good old times when artists couldn't rely on backing tracks, massive LED screens and insane visual shows to deliver quality. Deliver real entertainment together with flawless musicianship or be forgotten in an instant. This is something that many of todays acts could watch and learn a lot from.
This song reminds me of the good times of the 80's ... it was one of those that made a good mark of the season .... with respect to the new generation of current musicians and those who will come, will NEVER reach the quality of lyrics, arrangements and harmony Musical of the singers of those years, one of them is this exceptional beautiful being called Lionel Richie !!
1984... E o bRAZIL até hoje não aprendeu a fazer show ao vivo. Captura do som, mixagem, arranjo, músicos, coreografia, direção de vídeo, luz, ... Fora Lionel correndo sem uma desafinada sequer... Tudo perfeito. Não esqueçam de ver a data: Não foi em 2004, nem 1994. Foi em 1984!
Yeah Pop N Taco taught Michael a lot of what he knew about Popping. He was one of the people responsible for the dancing genius that Michael was! May he R.I.P
This is soooo amazing!! And 1984 was the best year of my life!! My first love and me watching Prince in Purple Rain at the movies!! I wanna go back please! xoxo love you Charlie xoxo xoxo
Awesome performers, musicians, song....Some of the Lionels music is simlpy fantastic. I love simle but powerfull and beautifull mesage of this song. Yes, they don't make songs like this any more.
"Say Yeaaah Say Yeaaah Say Yeaaah Say Yeaaah Say Yeaaah Say Yeaaah Say Yeaaah Say Yeaaah Say Yeaaah Say Yeaaah Say Yeaaah Say Yeaaah Say Yeaaah" It's okay Lionel - we got you.
Back when music was so alive and meant something! 😔 imagine Michael Jackson singing this yooooool amazing Damn... I wish I couldve been at that concert. Sadly I was negative 14 back then.... sigh
…SONG OF THE DAY!!! LIONEL RICHIE - ALL NIGHT LONG (1983) Una de las VIRTUDES de la música, es que te lleva en AUTOMÁTICO AL PASADO a MOMENTOS INOLVIDABLES; esta canción me hace recordar mi niñez cuando la televisión era UN TODO en el entretenimiento y que cuando GOZABA de mis CARICATURAS favoritas en el CANAL 5, al final de la transmisión del día, podía disfrutar una y otra vez tan BELLA MELODÍA con ritmo de CALIPSO que canta el ex integrante de los COMMODORES y que siempre que la escuches te pondrá en un modo HAPPY queriendo FIESTA FOREVER!!! 🎊🎉🤘🏿ULTRAMEGAROLOTA🤘🏿 09/05/2022
I love the cameras that were used to film concerts back then. There’s this sort of eerie surrealism about it. They used cameras like this for definitive releases of high profile concert tours back in those days usually with intentions on selling the concert on VHS. The Jacksons 1984 “Victory Tour”, Tina Turner’s 1985 “Private Dancer Tour”, Madonna’s 1985 “Virgin Tour”, and Prince’s 1986 “Parade Tour” used cameras like this.
@@1980Triumph There’s that 9 minute long performance of “Billie Jean” on “The Victory Tour” that we’ve all seen by now where the fans express their excitement of attending the concert and we see flashes of other moments in the concert but the main focus was on the “Billie Jean” performances. According to insiders, Michael had a couple of the shows professionally filmed with the possibility of one of the shows being released on VHS for those who missed the concert tour. But due to his building feud with his brothers he didn’t want to make them anymore money and he sat on that footage for the rest of his life up until this point and we still don’t have a full official concert from either of Jacksons’ 80s tours.

One of the greatest LIVE performances I've even seen was Lionel in 1984 ❤❤❤
Decades later, Lionel Richie is still performing and as talented as ever. A living legend!
Lionel said that he'd sometimes see his friend Michael (Jackson) in the audience in a disguise. But he could recognize him, lol. Michael frequently went to see the Commodores as a teenager.
And at 3:37 the tone and sound was the only time in human history that the all night long YEaa was sung that way in front of 50k fans
The 80's...the golden age of music. I don't say the 70's didn't have its Magic, but on the 80's there was a lot of good music going on. Pop, hard rock, thrash, heavy metal, rap, progressive, etc.
70's were more diverse with less shitty manufactured pop.
Can't top the 90's though
Early 2010s was also pretty good. Not as groovy as the 80s, but definitely more energy.
It was indeed a time where especially as a DJ you could do no wrong when playing a hit on the dance floor! What a time to be alive!
Yeah ya can. Music from anywhere before the '90's.@@rashadjames8996
Richie killed it. Taco can Pop and Lock. Awesome dance😎

Wow! I'm 55. This a really wonderful version of a timeless gem.
ONE OF MY FAV.. CONCERTS ..IN LOS ANGELES.. BACK IN THE DAY. I WAS 23 YEARS OLD.. GREAT DAYS
What an artist the energy. He brings to all his songs.
Back when music was so alive and meant something! 😔
Best version of 'all night long', by far! Thanks for sharing.
The symphonica in Roosso version from 2008 gives this version a run for it's money. Easily one of the best live performances i've ever seen!
Watching this actually made me tear up a little bit. It doesn't seem like music brings people together like this anymore. I believe it is always possible though.

The arrangement is amazing.
Really wish I could've grow up in this generation
Yeah man..
Amen
We need a time travel machine...
Nah a time travel machine would allow our generation to go and ruin this generation too...
@@victorgellerstad6623 true but I wouldn't do that because I actually appreciate the 80s
Top 10 all time for me! Love this song, he's a genius! Big ups Lionel!!!!
Great tour by a great artist singing a great song. That's what all this about. Makes you feel good.
This video is a stew of raw talent, genuine elation, and life lived completely in the moment.

No phone in the air with lights on recording, everyone just living their best lives in the moment.
I wish I was a part of that era.
Man...do I miss the 80's!
They are overrated
They are overrated only in terms of movies. As for the rest, the 80s were really great.
I was 6 years old in 1984 . I remembered this song at that time
What a performance!
Take me to the 80s'
I dont belong here
Lionel has always been one of my favorite singers of all times. I try to model his voice and feelings when I sing his song. Just love him!😍👍😍

My mom and her friend saw this tour back in ‘84. She told me it was the first concert she went to and it was awesome.
OK, this is absolutely incredible. The band starts kicking so much ass at 3:54 onwards!!
Man he killed this
i was 15 years old when this song becomes a worldwide hit.....great voice...
Grew up watching this on the Lionel Richie all night long vhs!!!
All you 15 year olds need to calm down, it was pop music in the 80s and it's still pop music today. You aren't breaking any cultural barriers.
How can you not love this man? He's got soul, baby! =)
