- Jason Ruby’s AWD Nissan Silvia is quickly becoming a very tough street car to beat at No prep 1/8th mile events. This is not the first time Jason has taken out a field of street V8’s. At the recent Street Car Throw Down radial event at Heathcote Raceway, the Silvia took out the Street Kings class in emphatic fashion. The car has gone as quick as 8.22 in the quarter and will be one to watch at this years Drag Challenge.

I remember being harassed by my old boss in early 2000s about my love of Japanese cars and 4&6 cylinder turbo engine's in a restoration shop I'm for sure sharing this with him

I could swear I saw this s13 towing a trailer on the Calder obviously for drag challenge, as if an s13 towing a trailer didn't catch my eye enough let alone knowing it does 8s!!! So many tough cars on the highway!

I always wonder at what time and becomes unnecessary when your launching and the front wheels are up anyway. Def helps with no prep events

@@fullboost I think they're in the 10's at the moment. (1/4 mile). Who knows in a few years time? I think the 1/8th mile would really suit them.

No prep is no track prep put down on the surface and no tuning or practice runs.

You do realize that the fastest cars in the world are are rwd and drastically faster than any awd fyi...
And that is over a long distance, where they accelerate quite slowly initially. So they don't require the instant grip over the 1st 100 metres or so like in drag racing on a no prep surface. Same at Cootamundra drags.
V8 are heavy cars, Turbo cars are lite they don't match at all

90% of toranas we're 800-1000 KGS a lot of Silvia S13s through to S15s are 1100kgs+
I raced a Silva with my car stock ls 1 it just blew me away at the lites, there i state my comments i love all cars doesn't matter what they are but I love v8 most

Roll racing is boring af, for 90% of the people roll racing it is because they can't get traction at take off or can not afford to replace their weak gearbox.
