      Heck of a lot cheaper than off road wheel chairs. Plus these can use the 10amp batter for even more juice I believe. The deck does come off btw.

      @@Todd66 Heck yah way cheaper and a lot more durable. I use to be in the DME world (Durable Medical Equipment) A specialized chair will start out at at least 12,000 most go for upwards around 20 to $30,000. Any idea how the blades work? Do they run off of Belts or motors and how thick are the blades?

    • @Todd66
      @Todd66 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@garyeisele2810 unfortunately I do not. I just stumbled onto this video and when I read the comment I thought it was brilliant idea. I do know the whole deck comes off from watching a different video. The possibilities are endless with this thing if someone is willing to get creative. I imagine those batteries will last a lot longer when not using the blades.

    Great test demonstration! Pro tip 436: I mow hilly, wet, clay….challenging terrain about 50 of these lawns per week. Because getting a 800 lb zero turn stuck is no fun and a 4x4 rescue truck is not always possible, I have mounted 3500 lb 4 wheeler winches on the front of my Toros. Can get unstuck in minutes, also when a mower dies in the back yard, you can winch your way onto the trailer, it can take a few minutes but the customer’s lawn stays good and one man gets the job done! Harbor Fright winch will save a lot of headaches.

  • @Todd66

    I love how quiet it is. I used to mow for a living and I can tell you that the sound causes fatigue. I drove a 72” diesel kubota and a smaller Grasshopper with a Vtwin, both were pretty loud with the RPMs up. All day on a electric mower would not even compare to gas or diesel in that aspect.
    I would love to drive this thing and see what it was like. I think it needs to go quicker in reverse. Looked slow af in reverse.
    Awesome video

      @@alanworstell7930 Compared to messing with gas, carbs, airfilters, oil, plugs, pull cords....Hell yeah there's a big difference. I'll never go back. One big surprise for me was lack of vibration from reciprocating engine, a real bonus, and of course much reduced racket matters.

    • @Mrbfgray
      @Mrbfgray 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I too have used for around a decade, did burn up my 10 or 12 yr old chainsaw last yr, I was overworking it and repeatedly stalling in heavy hardwood, (replaced with same) and one battery died young. But I hit a 3" diameter 3/8" thick steel pipe in the tall weeds HARD with push mower--stopped it cold but didn't seem to faze it, guarantee it would have bent or broken the crankshaft of my old Honda mower. I got tired of messing with all the issues with gas powered, NEVER go back.

    • @Mrbfgray
      @Mrbfgray 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Might add: Also have hedge trimmer and leaf blower, all 4 units have been highly satisfactory with a few quibbles that I suspect have been mostly corrected, mainly the "turbo button" on blower is rubbish and I use it most of the time....from images it looks like they changed that. Mower batt door latch is annoying and it would be nice to have the spring loaded catch bag door have an open holder.

      Been using my electric push mower for years and this year is the worst. My grass got up to 14 inches in 3 weeks while I was sick. My mower was constantly cutting off because it was so tall. Luckily, I got it down to about an inch/inch and a half tall after a few sessions throughout the week. Mower pushed through, like always, and performed better than my gas mower (surprisingly). I will be working on getting the mower in this video as an upgrade, and I will give my current electric mower to a relative, and sell my gas mower.

    Absolutely the most comprehensive review and demo of the EGO's capabilities. But here I am two years later and the EGO ZT4205S (steering wheel equipped) has just recently come out (not to mention the 52" EGO with lap bars. ) I'm ready to retire my 22 horse Craftsman gas mower and my only reluctance in switching to batteries is because of a number of reviews from users that have had issues with battery longevity. Like many other subscribers, Stan I would love to see any follow up on the EGO journey.

    Thank you so much for doin a real test on this mower...I got a cheap corded more last year for $100 thinking it would be a pile of crap...turns out that it's pretty much the best mower I have ever had...literally plug and play. Same with electric chain saws...never though it would be worth a damn for the cheap price (corded)....but the mazing torque on the electric stuff make fast work of things...and no cleaning carbs, replacing spark plugs, winterizing, adding gas, changing oil...making a mess.
    When I saw one of these zero turn mowers in Lowes I was like "that's pretty cool" but such a heavy price tag for an average consumer to venture into the unknown. TY for this video once again.

    I just bought one of these. We have a 10kW solar system so I'm setting the charger on a timer to only charge during the middle of the day, so should be pretty much free 'fuel'. So far I'm very impressed. It just did 1.8 ac on a charge in hilly country, the cut is excellent and it is Sooooo smooth. Way better than my 2 year old Husqvarna which is already having transaxle problems. I have another two batteries on order so should be able to mow most of our 5 ac in a single pass. This is certainly not a toy.

Stanley, how about a follow-up review of how this stands up over time if you are still using it? Also not covered it what else can you do with this expensive mower? I think there is a hitch connection at the back. Are there any attachments you can hook up to the front or back? Like perhaps a plow in winter, leaf vacuum?? That would be an added benefit for this investment. Thanks

Lowe's and Ace are trying hard to corner the market. Regardless Ego is some Awesome stuff. We don't cut commercially anymore, but we have sold hand held Ego Products to quite a few commercial guys in our area. They all love the blowers and the Multitool. The steering and 3 modes are about the best I have driven with the closed response to a traditional hydro machine. Someone actually went out and bought a replacement battery for the ego blower when it died. (we don't like to sweep). The 40 VS 56 volt shouldn't make that much difference that the 40 volt is embarrassing to use.

    Being an owner of the Ryobi ZTR 100Ah mower I can admit that I'm jealous of the interchangeable batteries. There have been times that either I or my son forgot to charge the mower and I couldn't cut the 1 acre front yard fully without plugging it back in to charge for about 45min to an hour. Being able to put in another battery would've saved some frustrations and time. This Ego sounds similar to my Ryobi, like a loud fan, my neighbors appreciate it. Other than the interchangeable batteries, I don't see anything making it cost $1000 more than my Ryobi which is expensive for residential mower. My suggestions for Ego would be to add some accessories to it besides the bagger, like a spreader or dethatcher, not many companies make accessories for the Ryobi.

    As with all my other Ego equipment, I'm really concerned with Egos pricing model on their batteries. Not sure how much this model is going to run, but I can buy a quality John Deere for 5k, that'll last me 10-15 years just doing minimal maintenance on it. (What I've currently done). With a full size mower though these batteries are only warrantyed for 3 years I believe. So if I have to spend $1500 to replace the batteries every 3 years or even 5 years. That's just not sustainable.
    It's "cool", but it's not even close in comparison to other offerings.
    Also for commercial use they only warranty their stuff for 1 year.

      I’ve seen lithium batteries go way longer than 3 years, that is just there warranty. They use similar cells as Tesla’s and some of the Tesla batteries have really lasted longer than what they said they would. It really just depends on how many cycles you do per year, if you have a huge yard I’d imagine they might not have as long of an over all life with someone who has a small yard.

    • @NightRogue77
      @NightRogue77 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you want LI-ION batteries to last, follow some simple steps - if they go bad anyway, they were shite:
      1) store batteries inside where it’s temperature controlled and not subject to extreme cold or heat
      2) charge indoors as well
      3) Do not use ANY from of “QUICK CHARGING”. Charging in 45 minutes is NOT a good feature - it’s A severe liability to the long-term health of your battery. 2 hours at least - for these types I prefer 3 hr minimum - make part of your purchasing decision what kind of charger comes with the unit and what options you have with it; a high-quality charger will give you different charging options and you should always go with the longest charge cycle if you can.
      4) for absolute MAX battery life, forever keep the charge state between no less than 10% and no more than 90% - really it should be 20% to 80%, but that’s just not feasible in most scenarios unless you have a really small yard. When done, charge to midway and not to “full”, until needed.
      5) never store them at their full charge state - 55%-ish is best
      6) if possible, only charge to “full” right before using
      7) NEVER leave on a charger - this will violate #5
      Heat, extreme discharge states, and repeated cycles to 100% (or ANY overcharging) are the three enemies of LI-ION batteries - treat your phone the same way and marvel at your battery’s lifespan lol. My M3 has lost 1%-ish over 52k miles, with fairly heavy supercharger usage (bad for the battery to charge that fast, remember?) - but I have followed my own 15%-90% rule, and I keep it at 50% until just before I leave - I’m not even sure I’ve lost that 1% tbh.
      It’s all about how you care for the battery in MOST cases, although remember you get what you pay for when it comes to lithium ion batteries as well. The tech is far more robust than it seems, but the faster u destroy ur battery, the quicker u buy more lol
      (The charger u use has a BIG part to play too - if u use 18650 on down to AAA rechargeables, rly of ANY kind whether Li-Io, Li-Po, NiMh, whatever - do ur self a favor and invest in a very high quality charging station that handles ALL of those sizes and in between. Nitecore, Dragon, whatever - do ur diligence and get a solid charger and that will serve you for a decade at least, and pay for itself at least once by extending the life of ur batteries)

    That is really impressive. Never thought a battery operated mower would mow like that. Mowing thick grass isn't easy and that thing cut right though it not bad. Now if I could only afford one lol. Guess my old Craftsman will have to keep mowing the lawn and blowing snow. Hey wondering if they will make a snowblower for it. I can't use walk behind snowblowers no more due to the tendinitis in my shoulders. The reason I bought a berco snowblower for my Craftsman tractor this year. I tried last winter to use my Toro walk behind and couldn't do it. Had to borrow the bosses skid steer to clean my driveway last winter. I could of used it this winter but was afraid something would break on it.

      I don't think they are making a pusher blade for it.
