If Pewdiepie - a 34-year-old youtuber and father who hadn't drawn in some 3 decades - can learn to draw, nothing is stopping you from starting and at least trying it out too!
this is why I am so baffled by AI tech bros saying "AI gives uncreatives a opportunity" JUST PICK UP A PEN DAWG, LOOK AT PEWDS, a 30 plus year old father improved soo much in 30 days, creativity is a skill!
not working a physical job 10h/day helps a lot in staying motivated in your hobbies
@@sajiro__0 it's a passion at the end of the day, even 15 minutes of drawing a day consistently will show amazing progress, that's how most artists today did it
@@sajiro__0 I mean he's literally a father of an infant, which takes up most of his days, and he still found a good amount of time to improve on something he wanted to. I fly for an airline and it takes up most of my week, if not all of it, and I still know how to make time for the things I'm passionate about. I completely understand feeling tired and lazy after a hectic day, but you should still make time for yourself and the things you're passionate about and enjoy, or else you become sad and bitter. If art isn't it, you can find something else. Besides, doing a little bit of traditional drawing at the end of a busy day is a great way to relax, and I recommend at least trying it out.
No time 😭😭😭
PewDiePie drawing is actually pretty crazy, props to him :D
Ikr, always great to pick up a new hobby.
Fr, his 30 days is more progress than my years 😭
OMG

PewDiePie has become an art baby
Sam’s art baby inventory: *a new art baby has entered your inventory*
Yea
Here's the thing, pewds has a mindset of a real artist. He sees his mistakes and his improvements, he's aware of his goals, he knows what his weaknesses and how to fix it, and he's humble af. He is proud of his progress but he's aware of his level. With this kind of mindset, in a year or two of dedication his art will bloom
Edit: Boy, did this comment aged like fine wine
You think this view on skills and learning is something unique to art? Such a bigoted take...
@@flintldan It Ain't that serious buddy
@@flintldan That escalated quickly. o.o;
like any of that matters 🤦♂ different people have completely different ways fitting their personality traits to get good at something,
some do with sheer willpower and bite , while others go the scientific way and prepare while others might just be chill and natural and so on ..
what you say may sound intelligent but is incredibly shortsighted
@@alexmehler6765 I realize it after I read it again now, that my statement is so vague, when I meant by a "Real artist", I was meaning to say "an artist with interest, dedication to learn and naturally has a talent for art" not "what an artist should be". and ofc my second statement is an intuition, since I see high potential of pewds as an artist, the real question is his determination to learn art
I felt my artistic parental instincts kick in when I saw pewds become an art baby
i'm using that to describe my instincts with begginer artists
frfr
the best way to describe what i felt the whole time i was watching his progress. i am really happy that he wants to continue drawing after that side quest
Fr, I felt proud seeing his progress in the video
Fr lmao
Pewds: as you can see its awful
Sam: why would you say that about your art
Also sam: i am not a good artist
Hypocrisy is a canon event for artists 😂
😂
“Art is probably one of the most rewarding yet painful things that you can do in your life “ so true!!!!sam 😭
Ok, but when do I get the reward part? because so far I've only got pain.
AI be like 🌚🌚🌚
@@costelinha1867right😭😭
@@costelinha1867 its when you make that one drawing/painting that you really love, thats the reward. and the better you get the more of these you will get
@@marklighter3056 While AI can produce interesting stuff and quickly it also lack a personality at least for me whenever i try it's like it looks same or it's just trying to push for photorealism where it's not suppose to be photorealistic even if you train model right it's still not it.
Pewds did so good in the video bro. Sam has competition now 😂
Ngl I think Pewdiepie learning how to draw would be such a good pushback against AI “artists,” bc if this man improved so much in only 30 days these AI users have NO excuse other than “ohh I want something instantly bc I’m lazy as fu-“
Yes!! It's not that hard to pick up a pencil and on paper. If My baby cousin can draw, so can anyone
It's a different niche. AI is a tool, just like a paintbrush. Believe it or not, AI 'artists' can also draw with a pencil when they want to. Both endeavors satisfy a different itch.
@@squ34ky Most ai prompters cannot draw with a pencil wtf are you talking about
@@squ34ky Those AI bros that you talk about, are they in the room with us right now?
@@squ34ky A program generating an image for you and you uploading it online is NOT a tool. It's not even advertised as a tool for artists. It's advertised as making a finished product for NON-artists. A paintbrush can't create an image for you just by you whispering some prompt words at it. Comparing a paintbrush to a program that creates an image for you and saying they are the same thing is asinine.
The most "tool" part would be if people that are already artists use the image it generates as a color palette for their own art (but they can literally just use color palette programs and pretty photos to create a color palette from), and it could maaaaybe be used to give an artist ideas if they don't know what they want to draw next (but so could browsing images and other art on the internet with whatever prompt words used in a search bar instead). And it wouldn't even be good to use as a reference tool, because then you're learning all the mistakes and nonsense noise that Ai includes in their images, so it would be better to use real photos as reference. Even as a "tool" Ai image generators suck.
And saying Ai "artists" can draw also isn't even an argument for anything. The only reason they could draw is if they were already artists before using an Ai image generator. The act of using it did not make them artists or help them as artists in any way at all. Anyone can draw with a pencil when they want to. You're just stating a fact that makes no sense at all in regards to Ai image generators.
Not much of a fan of Pewdiepie but this is huge. A lot of people don’t get into art because they find it to be a huge task to practice, and with the easy path of AI people want instant gratification. So seeing him try and actually improve even with how busy he is will probably motivate people to start
I agree
ppl either forget or don't know he was a graphic designer before TH-camr, he just felt stale and stagnant and TH-cam became something fulfilling so he went full time tht and quit his job
Pewds drawings are better in 30 days than mine in 10 years 😭
Same, I’ve been doing this for a year and am not on his level😂😂😂
Sorry if my earlier comment sounded rude, but if you want to get better in art and you haven't reached pewdipies level he did in 30 days in 10 years. I'm pretty sure you're either not consistent or you're doing something wrong..
@@Wassup_bruh..some people need more time to improve, and the didn’t say that it was consistent, more likely on and off
Plus we’re just relying on the artist’s opinion of their art, so we can’t really tell
then stop complaining and learn how to draw bro
@@myadiahno, even if it’s on and off, and it’s based off of their opinion, there is no world where someone with 10 years of experience is worse than Pewdiepie who only had a month and a bit of past experience. If that’s the case, then they either weren’t trying to learn, or were doing something very, very wrong, even if they were the world’s slowest learner
The progression of his art is amazing. Huge improvement in only 30 days!
artists know its gonna be a good day when Sam provides these videos for the art babies
2:32 I agree with you on that cause I kept doodling for a long time but not improved much but when I did the study of fundamentals and use references I felt like I was learning and improving
i hope that pewdiepie knows how much he is influencing others to draw
im actually surprised that a lot of people are talking about this video, genuinely excited for his next art video, this is really cool, it reminds of me when i first started doing art!
I'm looking forward to his art journey, i love seeing people's art stories
Pewds has always been artistic and was pretty good at photoshop so I think drawing will come pretty naturally to him if he keeps it up
Right I remember those videos! IIRC he had pretty decent colour choice. He went into a lot of detail and spent a lot of time on them, which is a sign of a true artist
yh he was a graphic designer before
funnily enough it was his 30 day drawing challenge that got me excited for drawing again... i miss the beginning and my motivation sky rocketed after I watched him. You've also helped a lot with my motivation Sam with your videos tooo ^_^
He posted another one a couple days ago! You should watch that too. His improvement is amazing!
Now, he released the 100 days
Sam not giving up any chance to roast ai is just too funny
"some of the hands here are better than i saw in ai art"
He also became good with facial expressions. He drew characters for the ads section of the video, and I think it showcased more the improvement that he gained In 30 days.
The GFuel ad blew me away. It was extremely good to look at. At first I thought maybe it was someone else who drew it, because it looked way too good. Then I saw the rest of the progress and it seemed more believable, but still crazy of an improvement.
This was very interesting. I saw your Gumroad stuff too. I've been wanting to make my own stuff for emotes and other things, so it seems like a good starting point =)
The improvement is incredibly fast :0 Ive been drawing since I knew how to hold a pencil and this amount of improvement in such short amount of time is incredible! I hate saying this but he does have the talent for it:)
Heck yeah. He's actually DRAWING and not going to AI. Immediate props to him. Encourage artists and do not gatekeep.
I like how Pewd is just going around doing sidequests now
Seeing Pewds learning art was fascinating! he should definitely continue that! Honestly if someone like him who has a TH-cam channel. A kid and a wife and he still is learning new things is nice to see. He 100% is in his retirement arc 😂
He’s drawing better than me in a month and I’ve been drawing for 5 years 😭
then getfo here and learn how to draw my friend
References, find art you like a lot.
Literally take Sams advice and you should see a lot more improvement
@@SamiiSam128 I improved after 10 minutes cause of references after watching the video 😂
@@C052-ip9zs can you draw?
I've been watching Felix for YEEEAAARS now and I love what he has become. I don't know why but this one video ignited that one flame of wanting to also pick up a sketch book and actually learn to draw (not for profit, pure hobby). I follow so many talented artists on social media (including you, Sam) but I always just stared and admired when deep down there was this feeling of "Man, wish I could draw like that" and while I don't see myself becoming as professional as some of you I want to at least be able to draw more than stick figures lol. It's been a week now and I'm feeling pretty good about it, hope It's not just a phase.
In my opinion I would very much trust Sam when he says "Use Reference" Reference really does help me and sometimes I feel demotivated not using it that much, ngl Sam is prob my most favorite artist.
Not using references is like playing a game without doing the tutorial. Sure you can learn by trial and error but you literally can save so much time if you played the tutorial. Like using references. If you're not using references then it will take longer to learn everything.
Thought we would be watching just another sketch book. This is unexpectedly very motivating.
I have no interest in Pewdiepie, but I'm damn impressed at how honestly decent he was from early on. And he did SO well on drawing every day, that's something I myself struggle with, but it's so important. Obviously there were two big limitations: 1. He should have relied on reference a LOT more, but heck, many amateur artists don't know to do that, and 2. He shouldn't have felt so embarrassed at how "little" he improved day-to-day early on. No one improves that fast! But regardless, he did GREAT, and I'm hoping he inspires others to pick up a new hobby. ❤
I love the way his speech becomes more confident with the pieces he is really happy with! Just wonderful ❤
Ah it's so great to welcome Felix to the art community :D Love that guy, and I love art. Perfect match!
I’m 23 and just started wanting to pick it up again. It’s rough not being able to instantly draw out manga panels and characters I want but I gotta learn to love the process. I’ll sub and stick around love the channep
I really respect PewDiePie, he kinda realized he had enough money to not really worry about it anymore in his life and decided to just use that fact to spend time with his family and live his life instead of just pursuing more money for no reason
now you gotta cover part two
This was fun to watch. I am so excited for his journey and hope he continues! Great video and art tips 👏🏽
I really enjoy looking back at my first few drawings of the year and then comparing them to what I’m doing now. It usually impresses me how much better I’ve gotten and that gives me a self esteem boost when it comes to my art.
I've been practicing drawing hands and eyes at random times during the week for the last few months and I have definitely seen some improvement! Thank you for inspiring me to draw more Sam!
Whatever he does, i'm happy for him. It's such a new thing to see my favorite and legendary youtuber learned how to draw.
I was going through my old stuff today and found my very first sketchbook from abt 10 years ago, while preparing for an art exhibition ive got today...progress always happens, sometimes slow, sometimes fast, and felix really did a great job at figuring out what steps he needs to take!! People getting into art is such a beautiful thing to see
I’m glad more ppl are getting into art!
Even though I don’t draw much, I like to watch this channel, cause somehow it calms me down when I have a stressful day and struggle. That’s the added value that I hope you’re aware of. Your positive attitude and funny commentary help me when I feel bad.
Its always good to see more people creating and joining our community ❤❤❤
Sam has grown so much I watched him when he was at like 100k and he has opened up so much more props to you same!
So glad you decided to react to this!! I haven't watched Pewds in years, but I'm glad I stopped by for that video. It's always amazing to watch a new artist unfold before your very eyes! I think he has incredible potential, as does anyone looking to get into art. Seeing someone, especially such a prominent figure in the social media scene, actually take a chance on learning to draw amidst an AI takeover... feels super special. :)
ty for the upload sam, you inspire me sm! ive recently gotten into digital art and all of your incite helps :3
Watching him learn to draw made me regain the motivation to continue on my art journey again; I remember the reason I started doing art was because I saw my cousin's drawing of a game character I like and thought "sheeeett, I gotta get better than this guy"
We need more reaction videos like this. Great video.
Thanks for this video. I havent been drawing for almost 3 months because of boredom, now looking at someone learning to draw makes me want to continue learning to draw again.😅
I think it's great that big names are coming out and humbling themselves by revealing their struggles with art, especially in this rampant AI trend. The struggle can be fun! It can also be painful! But it's always worth challenging yourself to see what you're capable of and what you really enjoy doing.
His artstyle is like a more cleaned up version of what I usually thoughtlessly doodle and I'm both a bit jealous and freaked out
I find myself repeating 9:31-11:01. I love the style and seeing what features he chooses to outline versus not seems extremely valuable.
I love Félix even more for sharing this! So important for the art community at this time!! As an art teacher/tutor and a former art degree grad, one of the biggest barriers I have found, seen, heard and identified to those just embarking on their art journeys, is comparing themselves to other artists. I see it now just scrolling through most of the comments in this section, in fact I would do this prolifically during my studies. You really need to get that mentality out of your mindset, instead start comparing your progress from yesterday to today… become obsessed with yourself and your art journey. I always tell people to treat art as if it was part of your own DNA, when you create you want it to be somewhat distinct to yourself, not blend in or carbon copy everyone else. You can draw inspiration from other peoples artwork but don’t rely on their works as some form of magic pill that will grant you greatness overnight. Mix it up, find things you are super into, or passionate about, and grab references from that, as Sam points out, reference is huge! Don’t be afraid to use it.
Unsurprisingly a lot of the art they compare themselves to is either by well established artists ..or AI “creatives”. They live in an illusion that art should just be done with ease and so perfectly. This is why when I’m drawing live demos on screen in class, I make sure they see all my mistakes, so that my process is transparent and not nearly as “perfect” as they sometimes tend to think it is, based of off my finished pieces.
Look at art as an investment, you get out of it what you put into it, it will not come easy, but the more you feed it, the bigger its growth and the bigger your hunger to develop it grows. It guts me when I see someone try for a day or 2 then resign themselves to “I’m just not an artist, it’s not my natural talent”..that’s total bull shit. No artist is ever perfect or 100% and if they tell you that…they are lying, art is an eternal process really, you never stop learning and the day you decide you’ve learned and done it all… you will be humbled very quickly and surprise yourself with things you never thought about before. Passion is a huge key component in learning art, but that often comes from practice and observation, finding your own little niche and developing/platforming of off that.
Art is my escape, I’ve always loved drawing wildlife and the natural world, it is my true love and passion I’ve worked on since the age of 4 after watching The Lion King. I am fortunate that my work means I get to draw and further hone my art with other creatives (the best feeling and super encouraging to be surrounded by other creatives) but I am also studying my degree in zoology and it can be physically and mentally demanding as well as limiting when I suddenly have ideas for new art projects or pieces but can’t immediately put them onto paper. But I always try squeeze art into my day whenever and wherever I can, even if it’s just taking photos of trees or something interesting for reference then scribble that onto newspapers or magazines during tea/lunch breaks. You don’t have to invest hours and hours every single day, 20, 15 or even 5 minutes is still something! Anything to keep the artistic energy alive.
I really hope this big ass novel of a comment hasn’t come across as some weird flex, more just a page from my book of life experiences that I’ve learned from peers over the years and now share with my own students and friends wanting to jump into the arts and creative community. Hope you can make sense of it.
I can't believe that one of my childhood youtuber inspire me that even no matter what age, we can improve if we start what we are doing if its a skill, work or a game. Thanks to Felix for inspiration👍
Never been much of a PewDiePie watcher but mad props to him for picking up the pencil!
Personally i've found myself a lot more happy with my art than before, i started pushing my comfort zone and trying to draw new things. Before i was ashamed that i couldn't draw realistically, but now i just love the anime style drawings i make!! Been a lot more confident and my digital art has been improving too!! Wishing you all luck on your journeys!!
I was soo fed up of drawing after the recent developments, felt like being able to draw had no meaning now and stuff and since it was something that got me through tough times it hurt more. but then I saw him drawing and sort of came back to it and have been drawing frequently since. the timing of him making a video about him enjoying the process of making the art himself at a time like this couldn't have been any better. it's perfect
It's incredible seeing someone as huge as Pewdiepie, take the time to learn how to draw and create art. It just shows that art is something you can absolutely learn and improve on. Something else that you mentioned in this video that I think is really important, is the importance of drawing things you LIKE or are interested in. I felt for the longest time that in order to improve my art AT ALL was to draw people, study anatomy, draw from still life only, only practice your fundamentals, etc.
But this is where I feel it's important to know that you can absolutely practice your fundamentals within the things you are genuinely interested in. Example, I prefer drawing plants, environments, and animals. But I always felt like in order to be good at drawing those things, I had to draw people first, or only study anatomy; and it was really hindering my enjoyment for art. But I'm teaching myself that it's OKAY to practice my fundamentals within my interests range. I can absolutely practice values and forms on Plants, Rocks, Trees, etc. Or I can absolutely practice perspective on Organic and Non-Organic environments. Or I can practice anatomy of several different animals that I've never drawn before. I don't need to step outside of my interests range to try things I'm not comfortable or good with. And I wish someone would have told me this sooner. 🤍
But this was a great video and tbh, I was eager to see if you'd do a reaction to it. It's such an uplifting thing to see these days as an artist, someone big with little experience with a pencil, but taking the time to learn it. 🤍
Sam, your drawings are so inspirational. I love your style.
Why am I better at 3/4 view instead of front view? I guess it's just what I started with. Also finally, a traditinal artist.❤ All art tutorials I've tried have been digital, lol. It's cool to see improvements of other people and myself. Also, don't let yourself get down just because your new at art, personally I started drrawing when I was like 4 yrs ish, and Pewdipie is just now starting, so yeah, start whenever you want, it doesn't matter age.
The timer suggestion for references is VERY valuable.
Often times, practicing was exhausting for me because of spending too long trying to perfectly imitate little details.
This will help me focus on getting the general style and form down, without being too critical of my work.
Seeing Pewdiepie Sketches were Amazingly, I love him To React To Art tutorials while He draws on the Sketches.
PLEASE DO A PART 2 FELIX DID A 100 DAY DRAWING CHALLENGE
Bruh, his new video shows so much improvement
Its crazy how successful he is yet he never wants to stop learning new things. Really goes to show how we can all improve on skills we have first its 30 days then hell look back in a year go WHOA who knows 5 years from now he could be writing his own manga or show.
I have to start drawing more so he doesn’t become better than me
Watch out Sam, once Felix graduates into an art toddler, he's one step closer to catching up to an art grandpa like you. Gotta keep grinding 💪 Road to art fossil
😭
I started early this year, like in January, technically last December. I drew a lot throughout the months. I enjoyed it a lot. Then I just kinda stopped because life and mental is getting to me, and i practiced stuff i didnt enjoy very much. I dropped off the art train, my stuff collected dust. Now I want to start again and do my own thing. Thought about practicing body parts again, but that is exactly when i dropped off. Starting with something I am passionate about honestly helped me getting in, and I think it will do so again.
I hope anyone with similar experiences tries following this route instead. Fundamentals are cool n all, but if you want to draw a manga panel instead, try that. If you have issues drawing it, look for some tutorial helping you in that, and keep going. Thats what i am going back to now. Its frustrating that i wasted my art year, but I hope that wont discourage those with a similar situation. It certainly wont discourage me. :)
i feel it is really important to hone "having fun" as a skill and not enough artists mention it, since the focus is always on technical skill. photostudies and practicing is great but doodling is not a bad thing to do, if it makes ur heart sing and u feel happy i think its worth it. forgetting what makes drawing fun can hinder u so much, so really, between those practices, doodle smth that makes u smile.
It had been 6 years since I last draw i just didnt feel like i was good enough and didnt have the pasion to keep going, but seeing PDP's video made me want to get back to drawing and be more acceptable of my mistakes. And thank u Sam u helped with that too!
We need a vid for his 100 day vid aswell
Sam, ты помогаешь когда тяжело и мотивируешь не сдаваться, спасибо за всё)
Basically draw in the style that is fun for you is the lesson I'm getting from this
omg chommang got a shoutout! i adore his channel, i'm so happy he's getting more attention
Pewdiepie can really do it all. Such a great insporation, glad ive followed him for over 10 years
Our recommendations are same Sam
I just saw this video pop up on my screen 4 to 5 days back.
However, it's really inspiring....after watching this, I am planning to do the same PewDiePie did, because from the last few weeks, I couldn't spend much time drawing/ sketching..
Ok I’m motivated now. Today I start my art journey of becoming a better artist >:)
Dude is just living life the way he wants to live it. Basically doing side quests at this point and I respect it.
I'm glad to see him learning I'm learning myself so very happy to see new ppl
I even like doing my own sketchbook, i bind the thing and everything.
It doesn't even take much time either, and helps you into getting into a more relaxed state of mind.
Plus you save some money as well.
hey what'sup sam, you're the reason i got interested in drawing digitally just because of your art style.
Last night I couldn’t stop beating myself up over a drawing I did that I didn’t like and watching this made me feel much better, I have a new burst of inspiration so thank you :D
Ok but when sam pointed that banana at me idk why but i just yelled out " I DONT HAVE ANY CHEESE " With my hands in the air 😅
Oh my! as soon as Pewdiepie's video came across my recommendations I immediately thought it would be nice to see a review from Sam. Thank you! 🦅
You should review his 100 days drawing!
I didnt know I needed this video 😂 it’s so true that I’m proud of my art when I use reference and sometimes my imagination does poop some good art from mental library !! And drawing what I love from reference IS how I’m supposed to have fun drawing again !!! Sam healed my art block in just one video 😮 imma be an art baayyybeeee again 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Drawing is such a great hobby to take up. The problem I see for most people is they don't train enough and just expect to magically be able to draw well. You have to train just like you would a musical instrument, ballet, or martial arts for example. For some reason people under estimate the work required and just assume they can't do it.
I really love sam's videos he helped me improve on my drawing and when i was at a point where i was gonna quit i decided not to and now im so happy and even though my art is dtill not the best it definetely improved compared to my first 2weeks, ive only started drawing this year january
PewDiePie picking up art is not something I was expecting, but it's definitely cool to see and I welcome it. :D
nothing is stopping you from starting and at least trying it out too!
Hoping he reacts to the new video now
Never watched one if his videos before, but this was really sweet to see because he really enjoyed that
Small lore here: Pewds worked as a photoshop artist (not pictures but used it as a drawing app) before making it big as a TH-camr ❤️
He did Photo manipulations.
He technically didn't draw using photoshop, it was mostly photo edits
Props to him learning the skill! It will take time but he will eventually get really good. Unlike some other prompters who steal pretends they have the skill.
its so great to watch him improve and become interested in art
make a vid abt his new drawing vid pls!
I've been learning 3D animation the past year after deciding to put 2D art aside, and I feel that I have not made that much progress has been discouraging. Seeing Pewdiepie learn art has been so encouraging!
He has made a 100 days update video
