  • Agritourism - Adding Farm Tours To Your Farm Business
    Today we are talking about agritourism but more specifically farm tours.
    Farm tours can be a great way to showcase your farm, give folks the opportunity to experience a real working farm, build a customer relationship and generate sales for your business.
    There are a couple of things to think about before doing a farm tour and we talk about those.

    I went to a farm that charged $75 for adults and $20 for children three and older no snacks no tasting you had to bring your own drinks and no touching
    I didn't learn anything new It was a pretty place I loved seeing all the animals. $8.00 is more than reasonable bless your hearts.

    You should talk to your local jr high and high schools for potential field trips and could charge $2-$5 per student. Might be a way to increase interest in agriculture for future generations. I know when I was growing up in Louisiana, we went on a couple field trips to farms and I definitely am planning on farming once I retire in a few years.

    I love this idea! In Rhode Island, we lived behind a farm and during the fall/winter, they offered goat walks! Nothing more adorable than watching your five-year-old try to walk a goat!!!

    Great video and something I've had on my mind especially for our fellow military families and schools etc in the area. Liability is my only hesitation. Coming from the horse world it is always a concern.

    I can see this as opportunity to educate people also about imported meats and how we dont know how animals were raised and how get around regulations by just being processed here in USA
    Not raised here just processed hurting our farmer by selling cheap but hurting everyone by sub standard produce sold as Prime Choice
    Packaging should require product country of origin as important as where it is processed

      Agree. This (supporting local farms) the only way you can truly know where and how your food is grown.

    What kid doesnt love to visit a farm. I was approached to supply a couple piglets to a petting zoo that does the markets here. Im not sure if u know what a petting zoo is but it is a small fenced area that contains chickens, baby goats, baby sheep, baby pigs, etc etc all types of animals found on a farm but are babies. They usually let the kids pet the animals for free or a small fee of a couple of $'s but sell small bags of feed so the kids can hand feed the babies. Unfortunatly my piglets are to big but my friend has berkshire and large blacks due in may so she will supply 2 of them which makes the petting zoo happy becuase kids are used to seing white pigs . When the pigs get to a certain size the petting zoo rotates the animals out and replaces them with younger animals. Ive seen them at schools, community events and even in shopping centers ( i think u guys call them mall's). Its just an idea but their real popular even in the rural area where i live. Love ya work chuck and the boss 😁. By the way this isnt liam but grant from australia my s21 died after 3 months so i borrowed liams ph till mine gets fiix

    Interesting you bring up how someone from a separate farm took the footage. Would you say that it's easier for pasture farms to support and not compete with each other because you guys have a more limited quantity of meat products as opposed to the factory farms that specialize in mass production?

    • @SheratonParkFarms
      @SheratonParkFarms  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think there is plenty of opportunity in this space. More and more people are becoming conscious about where the food comes from and how it’s raised. Their story and personality may resonate with someone that I can’t. Besides, it’s a small community that the big industrial farms would like to see go away and we have to support each other. Great question. Thanks.

    My farm is closed . No one is allowed around my animals if they own animal . We are bio secure. I'll help anyone but not at the cost of my animals .
