    Mr. Steve, your brother and you did a phenomenal job on this restoration. My son-in-law and I have waited for and watched every single video in this restoration and we both love the finished product. If you're open to suggestions, a video that talks about your total time and financial investment would certainly be interesting to me and I'm betting many others as well. Also, maybe a winch installation video too. Congratulations on a project most well done. Your attention to detail and unwillingness to skip steps or settle for mediocrity are what made this so incredible.

    Awesome job! I was hoping to see the flares go back on! I have a 99 TJ that leaks spray and sand between the fender and the flare. I was hoping you had a good idea for sealing that gap and straightening the flares. I might try some of the clear bra material to prevent the grit from scratching and creating rust spots.
    I have really enjoyed watching you work through the challenges of fixing poor repairs!!👍👍

    • @ForceBuilt
      @ForceBuilt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Alois! I did put something between the flares and the paint. When I would drive in the rain, spray would come up between the flares and the body and would leave dirty spots on JJ. I used weather striping to eliminate this. I will show this in my next video if you want me to?

    Steve , I liked your idea of the clear vinyl but I would put it on the hinge and then you would not have to trim it after adjusting , it would never show no matter how much you moved the hinge on the door. Regards William

    • @ForceBuilt
      @ForceBuilt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The hinge material wasn't receptive to the vinyl. That was indeed my first plan. The back side of the hinge had like an aluminum tape on it. The vinyl likes a perfectly smooth surface. That's why I had to go on the jeep side rather than the hinges. Thanks William!

      @@ForceBuilt Oh ! I didn't know that , I have not seen the back of a hinge yet. I should have known there was a reason why you didn't do it like that because it made more since to put it on the hinge. There you go taking me to school again, glad to know that but I wonder if you can sand the back of a hinge flat and maybe epoxy some clear vinyl to the back of a hinge ..... this is such a good idea you had but would be so much better to have it attached to the hinge. I have been watching your videos to prepare myself to paint my 97 TJ. Fantastic detail in your videos. The videos have made me more confident about taking this job on.
    One question I have regarding the inner fender wells and frame. Did you paint them and if so what did you paint them with? In your previous videos when paining the tub I noticed you didn’t cover the inner wells and frame and they were hit with overspray. However in the final video they all look black. Could you elaborate on your process for that are and what product you used to paint them.
    I apologize in advance if you spoke on this and I missed it.
    Thank you for taking the time to make these videos

    • @ForceBuilt
      @ForceBuilt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You didn't miss it. I just took some quality rattle can paint and blacked it all out. You can do it semi gloss for what I think is the best look. You can also tape the inner fenders up so that no paint will get on them. I tend to aerosol rattle can my inner fenders black about twice a year. No taping, just point and shoot. Hope this helps and thanks for the kind words!

    What did you use to texture coat the flares. Did you sand them or scuff them up prior to painting them. I heard you say you heated them up to remove small imperfections. Mine are in great shape but faded and discolored. What do you suggest cleaning with them prior to paint and how has yours held up. A whole new set is $130.

    • @ForceBuilt
      @ForceBuilt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used a product and the name is actually Texture Coat haha. I don't recommend it as I am about to redo mine. I would recommend bed liner in an aerosol can. I think AutoZone has some in the Dupli color brand. The reason I am redoing is mine faded in the hot sun with no UV protection. The bed liner stuff will have UV protection and just look better. I would clean them with something like Dawn and scuff them with 400 grit sand paper. Then spray them. I don't remember exactly what I did but I'm sure I used my DA sander. Thanks!

    What grit sand paper did you hand sand with then da with before compounding.

    • @ForceBuilt
      @ForceBuilt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I normally try and wet sand with 2000 wet or dry paper. I will use 1500 grit on more textured spots if I need to. The DA
      paper I start with 2000 grit wet, with a foam backing pad. Then finish up with 3 to 4000 grit also on the DA.

    • @jwwells22
      @jwwells22 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well this past weekend I removed all my fender flares and sanded them with a 400 grit sand paper. I then sprayed 3 coats of rustolem bumper and trim paint from Walmart. It turned out really really well. I also wet sanded the passenger side of the Jeep with a 2000 grit and then a 6” da 3000 grit pad on a da. Compounded and polished it out and it looks a ton better. With your painting exterior want brand paint would you recommend that matches the closest to factory. My Jeep is patriot blue and I think I can get by just painting the doors, front fenders, grille, and hood and not have to paint the entire Jeep.

    • @ForceBuilt
      @ForceBuilt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jwwells22 I painted my entire Jeep as you know so matching paint wasn't a concern. I would recommend talking with a local body shop supply store and see what they have the best luck with.
