I never get tired of watching this video. As a beginner/intermediate snowboarder I'm aiming to achieve your level of casual control and just plain cool at my next snow trip- Hakuba Happo in January 2014. Can't wait!!
dude thanks for sharing this video. i am originally from brazil now living in toronto canada. i skateboard and surf since i was 8. tried snowboard a few years ago but never got really into it. because of your video i found out about the bataleon boards, got one to try it out and guess what....completly different experience i loved the bataleons best board ever. i built a quiver of bataleons in less than a month after tried it for the first time. got the whatever 156 for whatever...eviltwin 152 for the park and the jam 156cm for the deep fresh snow days. wish i could find a riot just like yours. sick board sick style and sick session. keep it up.
Awesome man! Yea thats a solid quiver of boards. I have riding buddies that love those boards. I personally ride the 57 riot for most everything, and then I bring out my 61 omni for deep snow. I also really like LibTech boards (owned several in the past). Thanks for the comment.
Just finished riding for the 3rd time today and this level of skill has become a new long term goal. That was a beautiful run and I hope to be approaching this level by the end of next season.
Practice makes perfect.. riding switch is probably one of the most important 'basic' snowboarding skills. I am no expert... but it is safe to say that switch riding is the foundation to all riding styles from jib -> freestyle -> freeride. You don't need to be doing double corks to be a solid rider... Being in control and confident with your ability to handle all terrain/conditions defines solid riding imo.
I will be riding Revelstoke BC all next week (Jan 2-7 2015) if anyone wants to shred! Wearing a burnt orange Burton AK jacket w/ black Burton AK pants and riding Bataleon boards. Come on Snow!!
7ommyy The best advice I can give: don't be afraid :) And don't panic when your board starts to tremble, it's perfectly normal, especially with boards with more flex :)
Beautiful filming and riding bro! Totally getting me amped for my first trip this season...and first trip in over 3 years! Lake Louise is on my bucket list for sure now. What board are you rockin on this run here? What characteristics and specifications does it have? (i.e. stiffness, length, yada yada yada)
I probably watched this 20 times. I've learned so much from your moves. I still struggle a little with moving to toe-stand from heel-stand. But thank you for the video. Its one of the best rides on TH-cam! Pro guys, I've only tried rental snowboards which are thick and heavy but i bought myself a Nitro Team snowboard which is really light, will it be easier for me, being a beginner, to use that? All the best
Riding the same setup every time you ride will likely help you learn faster as you will not need to get reaquainted with a different rental each time. Also, finding a stance that is right for you is pretty important. Riding the same board with a familiar stance all the time will be very beneficial.
Ditto to what Blayne said. When buying a new set-up and one is just starting out ask a lot of questions and the sales guy will help you customize the ride to the specs of the terrain your'll be riding. I used a rental my first 2 days. Was sold on the sport. Have been riding my own set-ups for over 30 years! Guess that makes me old! (but only by the numbers, HA!) This year will be my first time, in a couple of decades, riding a set-up that is not all Burton. We're going LibTech TRS with XC2 BTX. Bindings are Union Flights. Will also be my first year riding something that is not camber, EVER! Should be interesting but it should be easier to stay afloat in Revelstoke which is what I'm aiming to achieve. Oh, BTW, nice turns there Blayne! Can't believe how little people there were at LL on a Saturday?!
Blayne Campbell I'm new to snowboarding, going on my second trip now in 4 weeks. Totally obsessed with snowboarding already. Unfortunately i'll be renting but should I ask for any particular set-up starting out, or should i be working towards getting used to a particular set-up as a beginner? Sweet video by the way!
Summer here in NZ, my fave season, only thing wrong is there is no snow on the mountain. So I'm just here watching waiting in anticipation for the winter snow up the mounts ... though I'm not looking forward to all the rain I'm going to get where I live. anyways, always love watching you just cruise down the mountain, gets me amped.
I know what you mean Enso, I used to get tired when I was riding but as I learned to ride without using so much of my strength I use my gondola ride to rest etc.
I have to agree with everyone! I normally HATE user gopro videos but your video is AWESOME!!!! I am going to be boarding Lake Louise for the first time this Saturday and your video just got me so pumped.
@TheJbetteridge Thanks for the comment! As for riding switch in this video, no.. That's just how I ride groomers to keep things fun as I am a fairly ambidextrous rider. You are completely correct though, switch riding saves your stamina for sure! I do that all the time on long slow traverses. :)
honestly, i love riding on flat lands like those im a beginner but its very fun, i always see very steep mountains but i wish more places had terrain like this =( just nice fast cruising
great video brother! two more months and i'll get to experience this for my first time after 30 years of watching films and playing cool boarders lol... time to start living!!! can't wait!!!
I can only echo what others have said, thoroughly enjoyed watching your vid from start to finish. I usually quit these after 20-30 secs from bad camera work or just bad content. Thanks for uploading and hope you continue to make them.
just curious. why do you like it? im wondering because i think its plain boring :D not a single real turn in there just edge to edge keeping more or less a straight line downhill.
i get your point, but i just like the simplicity of it tbh lol. im not very experienced and he just makes it look so smooth and its a great angle i havent seen on really any other video, its mostly helmet view
alright i understand, he does ride very confident thats true. just the style doesnt appeal to me. its true that there are only few videos on here of people just riding normally and decent. its all big powder, pro riding, or idiot tutorials. from that view this is refreshing :D
Heads up... Gondy is now open, Just a few runs though. Top of the world and summit and paradise are also kicking it... Been living here 2 years now and loving it. Nice vid
Man ! thank you so much for that video... I mean... Here in France we've got the alps but in summer it becomes very hard for me to wait next winter to see snow again. Every morning since I discovered your footage, I watch it on the morning with my black cofee, it's actually my day dose of ride LOL ! A little slop a day keeps the doctor away dude !
makes me miss canada so much wish i had a longer season love your switches at that high speed to me thats impressive cause i have only been doing it for about two years and only had a total of 6 days of boarding but if i had my way i would be out there every day all season
I love your videos man. You should do some more of these videos. Obviously not right now since it is summer time but please do another video. Your riding is amazing.
I enjoy this even more than Videos with "better" quality because theres no music, you can see the leg movement and i relate much more to it. Great work :)
Fantastic footage. Great riding. Well impressed. I came from the UK on my own to Canada 3 years ago. I loved that run and went as fast as I could... Every day ha ha. Anyway that's just what I needed to charge me up. Off to Austria in 11 days. Some more footage please!
@ZPraterful I can understand that!! I live in the prairies and I need to drive 11+ hours each way to ride. Snowboarding is such a huge part of my life though so it is worth it.
I do typically ride weight centered (pending on snow ofcourse). I broke my left femur of January 2000 snowboarding, I also have two screws in my left ankle from another injury from around 2009 that cause me a lot of pain at the best of times. So I do favor my one leg sometimes due to discomfort & pain. Most importantly.. I am still riding and doing the things I love.
Hi there, thanks a lot for taking time to answer.I'll definitly use your tips to improve my riding though I realize it's a long way through practice and patience to enjoy carving.I'll mostly ride icy runs this year, hope it won't bother my progression.
Really nice Blayne, it gives me more or less same feeling I get while snowboarding! And a great board too! Robert Bielen, Belgium (snowboarder & bass-player)
it's very simple, the guy got everything right, no crap, no music, no bullshit it's just snowboarding at its best, plus he got the angle sooooo good ...
I was out riding Sunshine and Louise early November and just got back from a week @ Silver Star BC this January. I live/work in the prairies 10-11 hours from mountains.. so it is hard for me to get away to ride. Yea I will be trying to get out in March as well for some spring shred, maybe see you out there!
This video here is what inspired me to do better and got me addicted to speeding down mountains. Also the reason why I got a GoPole to record runs. Thanks!!!
Just started shreddin again last season, first time back was on this same run. Sooooooo much better than the bunny hills in Ont. Sick vid, hope to see more.
Sick vid!! Been riding traditional camber and two seasons on a reverse camber. I have a similar riding style, bombing down hills, hitting natural features off to the sides, etc. Thinking about making the switch to TBT.. Yay or nay??..
wow this footage is brilliant. As a near beginner about to head out for my second and third weeks on a board ever, this is a great perspective to pick up some general tips on the basics of manoeuvring on the board (I know you're riding's not basic, but you see what I mean). great stuff.
damn good switch at 1:10, camera didn't shake a little and you move on .... on a switch for a long time. I'm impressed! You've got a natural skill recorded on this one. Greets from Poland.
10 years ago, I watched this vid, and felt in love with snowboarding, 10 years later, I came back every now and then to relive the joy!
The best soundtrack for a snowboard video is the sound on the snowboard on the snow. Thank for not ruining it with a music track.
Mark Simmonds darude sandstorm
Nein nein nein !
My favorite snowboard video yet, I still don't get tired of watching
11 years later (ok more like 6 years since I first saw it 😂), still my fave snowboard cruising video that I watch at least once every season!
mine too.
I love rewatching this video every now and then! Is it just me or its absolutely relaxing
Awesome video! Plain and simple. No music, just snowboarding. Love it :)
Thanks!
Yep! PERFECT!
I never get tired of watching this video. As a beginner/intermediate snowboarder I'm aiming to achieve your level of casual control and just plain cool at my next snow trip- Hakuba Happo in January 2014. Can't wait!!
The sound of the board makes up for the music there is nothin better than that sound
Great run to
Nice switch riding
+Zach Hale Thanks!
+Zach Hale Seconded. I can't even tell if you're goofy or regular. How do you practice?
+Blayne Campbell Is it rly hard to learn switch ?
+gaga gagić not really
i watch this video every pre seasson trip! thanks love it!
Sick footy man. And I'm really digging the yellow pants haha. Keep it up!
It's always a pleasure watching you run.
More video like this please!
I am watching this clip before every single snow season :D Its so freaking cool :D
Brilliant video......you get the proper vibe and feel of just what snowboarding is all about. Some nice transitions and great camera angle
dude thanks for sharing this video. i am originally from brazil now living in toronto canada. i skateboard and surf since i was 8. tried snowboard a few years ago but never got really into it. because of your video i found out about the bataleon boards, got one to try it out and guess what....completly different experience i loved the bataleons best board ever. i built a quiver of bataleons in less than a month after tried it for the first time. got the whatever 156 for whatever...eviltwin 152 for the park and the jam 156cm for the deep fresh snow days. wish i could find a riot just like yours. sick board sick style and sick session. keep it up.

Secretly sponsored by McD's are you? Cause I'm lovin it!
Going to the rockies for the first time next month, cannot wait.

2019 watching it again before my seasson!
Next winter, please make thousands of videos like this. Best ride i ever seen.
Snow looks really good.
Honestly some of the best GoPro footage I have seen, most pros have crappy footage filming the opposite direction, this is great!
that was so satisfying to watch.
Very nice vid. Simple, and flowy! Loved it... no music, just snow.
I will be riding Revelstoke BC all next week (Jan 2-7 2015) if anyone wants to shred!
Wearing a burnt orange Burton AK jacket w/ black Burton AK pants and riding Bataleon boards.
Come on Snow!!
Back to back 25cm+ days in Revelstoke!! /cheers
Also thanks to everyone who has subscribed! 1000+ Subscribers!!!
u gonna ride Whistler anytime soon? Im heading up there Feb 15 2015
go to sunshine/lake louise feb 16-17 :D
7ommyy
The best advice I can give: don't be afraid :) And don't panic when your board starts to tremble, it's perfectly normal, especially with boards with more flex :)
+7ommyy are you serious?
I'm headed to Banff in 2 months and this video just got me SO pumped for the season. I could watch you ride for hours... Thanks so so much!!!
Beautiful filming and riding bro! Totally getting me amped for my first trip this season...and first trip in over 3 years! Lake Louise is on my bucket list for sure now. What board are you rockin on this run here? What characteristics and specifications does it have? (i.e. stiffness, length, yada yada yada)
one of my fav SB videos. have watched it many times over the years. love your technique. pls post more!!

Your legs dont burn riding down for that long? does riding switch help with fatigue?
I know what you mean Enso, I used to get tired when I was riding but as I learned to ride without using so much of my strength I use my gondola ride to rest etc.
I have to agree with everyone! I normally HATE user gopro videos but your video is AWESOME!!!! I am going to be boarding Lake Louise for the first time this Saturday and your video just got me so pumped.
I'm a noob to boarding and you have no idea how much this helped. Thanks!
still when someone speaks about Canada skiing I remember this video and watching again :)
amazing video
I still remember how this inspired me to get out their and ride :) Such an unreal back drop.
Finaly a video with just snowboarding instead of "selfie" filming. Love it! :)
I loved the wooom noise whenever the camera turned around. Great top to bottom run at pace!
I hope I will be able to snowboard as great as you one day, you are amazing!
great video brother! two more months and i'll get to experience this for my first time after 30 years of watching films and playing cool boarders lol... time to start living!!! can't wait!!!

Great video, your riding is really good!. The place looks awesome, i will try to go there the next season.
Greetings from Argentina
Honestly this is my most favourite snowboard shredding video. great job man, the angle is sweet. It really shows the true beauty of snowboarding
just curious. why do you like it?
im wondering because i think its plain boring :D not a single real turn in there just edge to edge keeping more or less a straight line downhill.

Dobby44
watch?v=IBsEZj9sk1Q this i like! angle is worse tho
Dude, this was awesome. I have been searching youtube for a video without jumps and tricks, and just some nice chill boarding. Really good video!
Hey Blayne, really good ride. I'm new to snowboarding and watching the way you carve has really helped me up my turn speed. Thanks!
One of the best snowboard videos i ved ever seen! Just perfect
wicked toe side carving. incredibly quiet snow. an all time favorite youtube video
Love this video! This pretty much sums up how I feel on the slopes.. free. What a gorgeous day!
Great video to show people how to board and the now music caps it off. Excellent run as well. 🤟🏽
That is one long ass run. That single run equates to an all day run for us in the Midwest. So jealous.
Heads up... Gondy is now open, Just a few runs though. Top of the world and summit and paradise are also kicking it... Been living here 2 years now and loving it. Nice vid
your video just got me more stoked for this winter than any others. like you said nothing special.... but this is what we love to do!!
Man ! thank you so much for that video... I mean... Here in France we've got the alps but in summer it becomes very hard for me to wait next winter to see snow again. thats the best way to spend 5 minutes of your life. hands down.
Great video for trying to explain balance and using the edge of the board. Great video man.
I love your videos man. You should do some more of these videos. Obviously not right now since it is summer time but please do another video. Your riding is amazing.
I enjoy this even more than Videos with "better" quality because theres no music, you can see the leg movement and i relate much more to it. Great work :)
Awesome board! Bataleons are the way to go!!!
Great run too!
I second that, love hearing the sound of a board going through snow!
Awesome, I can't wait to connect my switch stances with the fluidity that you have. Great video!!
The filming went so smooth its like the camera's floating! Nice vid!
nice, my girlfriend is scared by all the high jumping, smooth flighing or pure powder clips... now I can show her this, thank you a lot !
Smootthh transitions...can't wait to be riding like that.
damn u ride like a beast, one of my fav snowboarding vids here. love the natural sound of shreding!
I am still riding and doing the things I love.
every time i watch this video i got pumped to go snowboard myself. great fan.
Best video ive seen of an actual boarder.
Yes. Yes, this is officially now the ultimate Gopro angle. Very entertaining. Well done, sir.
Hi there, thanks a lot for taking time to answer.I'll definitly use your tips to improve my riding though I realize it's a long way through practice and patience to enjoy carving.I'll mostly ride icy runs this year, hope it won't bother my progression.
Amazing video! And finnaly I found first video with RIOT in action, nice board! I cannot wait to test mine!
nice vid bro geting me stoked for this years snowbaording season
very nicely done. perfect angle on that video. best one I have seen.
Damn dude this is actually awesome. I love the camera angle so much for some reason. You have awesome flow and rhythm aswell
I started snowboarding in ~94/95.. so 18 years.
It was really nice of you to film yourself from behind, so its more interesting to watch
Really nice video man! You show the snowboarding from a beatiful way with your great footage! :)
The first time I saw this I paid attention to only his Bataleon, seeing the TBT in action. So cool!
I was out riding Sunshine and Louise early November and just got back from a week @ Silver Star BC this January. I live/work in the prairies 10-11 hours from mountains.. so it is hard for me to get away to ride. Yea I will be trying to get out in March as well for some spring shred, maybe see you out there!
maan i totally read "gondola gap" and was expecting something massive hahah. but this still reminded me how fun lake louise is.
This video here is what inspired me to do better and got me addicted to speeding down mountains. Also the reason why I got a GoPole to record runs. Thanks!!!
Man i would love if you would do more of these! you are very entertaining to watch man
Just started shreddin again last season, first time back was on this same run. Sooooooo much better than the bunny hills in Ont. Sick vid, hope to see more.
time passes by, gopro 6 is out, drones are everywhere.
six years later it's still one of the best self shot video
Hoping to start doing this, I freaking am obsessed now haha. On my bucket list as well. To go to Colorado or the alps and do this.
Nice pants, nice jacket, nice board, nice riding!!
Very, very nice riding. Heading out to Lake Louise hopefully this season. Living in Edmonton, so not too far.
pretty good riding bro, you're a lot better than me at switch that is for sure! would be cool to see you hitting up the park
You make me miss the snow Bro ! thanks for posting this
Do more of these please! They're great and you could do one of every route or something.
great ride. And your hand is so steady. Amazing.
damn good switch at 1:10, camera didn't shake a little and you move on .... on a switch for a long time. I'm impressed! You've got a natural skill recorded on this one. Greets from Poland.
I've done that run a few times, shhh's cray! So fun. I actually felt like I was playing a video game for a moment.
