Group 2 It seems like my person has been on "the brink" of speaking to me for months and each time stopped themselves. Pile 3: I closed the door on that…individual 3 weeks ago. He’s not well and as much as I wanted give unconditional love, giving to him started to hurt. It was like pouring water into a person who was peeing it out at the same time. I’m sad for him because he’s quite a bit older than me and so he doesn’t have the time to dilly dally. Our paths have diverged and they cannot converge again. I deserve better.

Thank you for the differentiation between narcissistic behaviors and the actual disorder. The word narcissism is being used in error too much these days, as a type of verbal abuse. My mother has diagnosed narcissistic personality disorder, and her symptoms are truly terrifying. She has 0 introspection. 0. She has 0 empathy. Her doctor explained to me that she has literally no ability to see the effect of her actions on others, or even a glimmer of understanding that others are entitled to feel and think differently than her. Each one of us exhibits narcissistic traits sometimes. And that is often an interpretation by someone who wants more than we wish to give. It is not a disorder.

He also has told me he loved me and I believe it, but we can’t be together right now due to physical distance and perhaps we both still have work to do. And yes, he made me put up some boundaries for myself haha. While I think I softened his heart. You are right, he isn’t really a narcissist at all and is self aware of what he does, he always apologizes and I know he feels bad about what he does. It’s a total Beauty & the Beast story here. But I have moved forwards too, while still loving him. I can’t wait forever, I am already 40 and always wanted a family and meet my life partner.

Wow.. pile 1 + 2 sounded like one, long continued reading about my situation past present and perhaps future... in my ideal world... 😢 And I was so torn when choosing the pile too! I didn't really intend to listen to pile 2 but then I sort of did and man it was so on point I got chills... we parted our separate ways after we ended our situationship because our huge age gap was too much of a burden for my person. We parted amicably and I even told my person that we could be friends again one day. Then we stopped talking it's been a few months. I didn't mean to ghost them or anything but my feelings are still too intense, treating them like a friend would be a deceit and impossible and I can't pretend I see them as a friend when my heart is still yearning for them. They seep into my mind 24/7 even when I try to move on it drives me nuts..
