What about hypothetically one managed to overstate their income in their tax return, filed it, then for example used that tax return as evidence of income to get a mortgage, and then consequently realised and amended it and lowered their income before the payment deadline 🤔
From a tax point of view sounds like the return is now correct. Whether hypothetically there has been a financial crime committed whilst obtaining the mortgage . . I’ll leave opinion on that to those who specialise in that area.
Hi. I wonder if you could help me: so I would like to do a amendment to my tax return and there is no option/amendment button to press, its for 2023/2024. (I done it for a friend and was normal 22/23 and 23/24 you can amend no problem) but on mine there is no option. I suspect because my accountant used comercial softwer its says: as the HMRC service was not used to file a tax return for this year you can't use the service ti amend that return. Can you please explain if it still possible to do a amendment and how(I mean to do it myself) Thank you
On this one speak to hmrc to be sure, but it’s likely you’d need to recreate the return inside your portal and it will effectively overwrite the one they have.
0:240:25 Hi i submited my tax return and its for 2023 to 2024. Were it says what are my tax years up to date from i put 05/04/2023 and not 05/04/2024. Is this a big mistake or will they know it was a mistake and can i amend it but after waiting 3 days it says. Thanks in advance.
I'm in the British Army I got told about Rift got a tax return through them back in 2017 it is now 2024 I rang up the taxman because my tax code was wrong and apparently it has been wrong since 2020 that as far as they can go back £4,000 tax due the taxman says it's Rift Rift says it's tax man for changing my tax code what do I do sincerely yours Jordan Norris
It’s a tough one. Sounds like it could of been related to an expense claim that has some issues or hmrc blindly rolled it forward. You could get it checked by someone else. although if hmrc are right sadly you still have to pay their demands. If you feel something was incorrectly done with the returns then approaching the people that did them originally is always a solid step for them to review.
Hi, thank you so much for this video!! On my self assessment tax return I accidentally put X in the section "If any of your businesses received coronavirus support payments (such as CJRS) you must put ‘X’ in the box to declare that they have been included when calculating profits in the period of this return" even though I have never claimed or received any coronavirus support payments. Will I need to amend my tax return?
I wonder if you could help me? Or it might be a useful video for your followers anyway! Im so confused over charging digital tax on my own website. I want to sell a membership in the UK and there is so much conflicting advice over charging Digital Sales Tax, how do you charge it, what do you do with the money? Im under the VAT threshold so do I need to charge it at all? Theres so many people setting up side hustles in the UK at the moment it might be useful to know!
This one is actually on the list to do a video. The issue is, its a pretty complex and has various scenarios, and sometimes there is no general easy answer (tech wise), so it keeps ending up at the bottom! Can't promise one any when soon, but its on the list! As a side note, if a UK business selling to UK customers you get to use the normal threshold (regarding the UK side of things).
@@HeelanAssociates it is mind blowing how complicated they have made it! I’m going to try and get through to HMRC this week to see if I can get some answers. I’m surprised there isn’t more info out there! But since “making tax digital” became a thing, that’s all I’m getting in the search results!! Thank you for taking the time to reply!! Any clarification is greatly received!!!

Its not a big mistake but better to amend and make it correct, easy one to fix.
@HeelanAssociates thank you for the reply.

It’s probably a good idea if you know you’ve made this mistake.
@HeelanAssociates Okay, thank you very much for the response!
