- The first left-handed Captain of the Indian Cricket Team, Nari Contractor, in his Ranji trophy debut, scored two centuries in both the innings and became the second man in cricketing history to do so after Arthur Morris. I was a great fan of Nari Contractorji when I was a kid and learning cricket. Those days only radio commentary was available. I didn't miss any of it when Nari was playing. I was shocked when his test career abruptly ended because of a nasty bumper from Charlie Griffith.
If only helmets were used then...

Or listen to the commentary on Radio.
And later Transistors were invented and the most popular one is 'National' with slotted leather cover.
Keep it close to the Ears (left and right, turn around to catch the proper signals, keep spare batteries, etc.
It was very interesting to follow cricket on Radio and Transistors listening to the running commentary
than viewing on TV's now.
The white dress code was very good as an indication of unity and friendly match.
Those days in the theaters, Cricket tests through Films Division along with routine films were shown for a minute or two. And we never missed them, nice were those days.
