This 801 live version is one of my all time favorites. Got this album when released. And played the hell out of it. Awesome drumming.

    Hey…
I am 68 now, and THIS SONG was & is my „Companion“ scince i‘ve got the brand new „801 LIVE“-Vinyl back than.
TIP: Listen to THIS while driving at NIGHT!
    OK;
Your channel is mainly focused on DRUMS, and… it‘s fine this way.
    But you must admit:
Beside Simon‘s tight wonderful drumming… it‘s a pleasure to hear the TIGHTNESS OF THE WHOLE BAND, hm!?
    Btw:
THIS Gig… was the VERY LAST TIME Brian Eno EVER played LIVE on a Stage for more than 20 Years!
But his „Frizzles & Shizzles“ on the Synths (while doing a fantastique Singer-Job) are sooo unique.
Unbelievable… that this Session is nearly 50 Years ago!!!
SADLY… there is NOT ONE Video of that Show.
The Soundengineers did a grrreat Job when mixing and recording this! Remember; 1976
801‘s Version… ENO‘s Version/Arrangement… IMHO, is the best of the countless pieces of TNK-Covers.
And, for Brian Eno this was… kinda „crossing Point“ from Roxy Music over to Studio made Ambient Works.
Sorry for my bad grammar… i am german.
    Keep ON doing your Drum-Entertainment!
    It‘s great.
    Reinhard from Germany
    PS:
😊 i just saw that i allready COMMENTED on this… some time ago! A sideeffect of getting old

Bill MacCormick, he's a friend of Phil Manzanera, played on some of his solo stuff, I think he became an MP iirc

This cover of Tomorrow Never Knows by The Beatles I have never heard before, but was EXCELLENT! Will need to check out the group 801 some more. This 19 year old Simon Phillips shows he has the chops even at that young age. Great reaction and analysis!

Thanks for this reaction! Perhaps you can check out this classic song from The Beatles' LP, "Revolver".
Phil Manzanera was and is the guitarist with art-rockers, Roxy Music, and has had a strong solo career, too. Brian Eno was the analogue synth player and tape manipulator with Roxy Music for the first couple of LPs (there are videos on TH-cam from that period, and the band's songs and clothes are wild), until he and lead singer and lead songwriter Bryan Ferry couldn't both fit in the same band. And since Ferry was the founder, Eno moved on. When interviewed, Eno has stated that his favourite Roxy Music album is "Stranded", recorded after he had left the band. He has had a strong solo career where his albums brought together fine musicians like Robert Fripp from King Crimson and Phil Collins; he was one of the founders of ambient music (and an established visual artist), and he became a significant music producer, working with David Bowie, Talking Heads, and many others.
Even after leaving Roxy Music, Eno continued collaborating with members of the band, like here with Manzanera. 801 released this live album first, then a studio album or two. Eno even patched things up with Ferry and has contributed to some of his music, and a few years ago was in the studio with a more recent version of Roxy Music, but those sessions have not been released.

801 put out 2 albums. 'Live' which TNK is from and a studio album called Listen Now. Both are awesome.

I first heard this album when i was about 16yo at a friends (his parents were away and we got drunk) , and here I am googling it and I turn 60yo in a few weeks. Jeez how can a '6 week band experiment' stay with me though my life. Incredible. Every musician on this album was awesome. It was (i believe) the first album recorded with instruments wired direct to desk rather than via microphones. Surprised you've never heard of ENO, that was weird....or Manzanera.........however thanks heaps for your reaction video.

    Dear Andrew!
Who Eno is… there are allready enough Comments on.
    Manzanera… the same!
A little thing on this… by myself:
I‘m a 67 years old german synthesist/keyboarder… and, believe me: scince 45 Years (!) „TNK by 801 LIVE“ was & IS on walkmans, iPODs and of course… my Stereo at Home!
    Its S U C H an energy-source!!!!
Whenever i feel weak… i listen to it, and i get a daylong smile in my heart!
I was SOOO happy to have found your clip… cause, sadly THIS Version isn’t so popular… and happy seeing YOU BECOME HAPPY!
    Greetz,
    Reinhard

Brain Eno has an enormous output behind him. Was in Roxy Musick for a few years. Has collaborated with a number of musicians such as Bowie, David Byrn, Lorie Anderson and Robert Fripp from King Krimson. He has produced for a number of artists, the list is long.
Maybe not his most famous work, but he has the startup sound for windows 95
