Cool, I never been to one but now want to and I also had no clue there would ever be a Daihatsu in a lot of shows. That's great to hear Daihatsu custom vans are out there
I'm really glad you guys did this. I'm tired of everyone thinking a "dream build" needs to be some RWD drift machine. Cars are supposed to be an extension of your personality. Everyone's different, and I'm glad you guys are representing that accordingly. Great video!

You can come through here in Cebu Philippines. We use them commonly for day to day commute to running errands as well.
They still make the 1st generation Jimny here in the Philippines. Not much has changed in it's design. They're also selling the new 2nd gen Jimny.

Daihatsu Hijet van was the car used for most public transport in my city back in late 80s to early 90s. People even called public transport as "Daihatsu" back then, even when Suzuki van already become more popular mid 90s.

@TheAngelbgt Well I was looking at importing a kei truck from Japan, to be more precise, the Mitsubishi minicab. it would cost about 2k$(USD) all said and done then probably another 1k$(USD) to repaint and restore the truck.
Pretty sure light trucks have a 25% chicken tariff on it.
Start looking in indonesia, they got plenty of kei and cheap prices

Here in SE Asia, like Philippines, that model is really popular, cheap, easy to maintain, very practical and can carry more than its own size. Strong for a little van. Mine is a Suzuki Carry 4WD, running great.

well, the 70 series Land Cruiser is still sold in Australia, it had several upgrades and got 5 stars in the crash test, so old car designs aren't something that couldn't come back, it would be a marvel to cruise on the road knowing that you have the safety of a modern car with the appeal of a classic, at the end of the day safety is the only thing that I miss in oldies
