    Dave, that is another beautiful tie of the Sparkle CADDIS PUPA, I have seen other ties, but yours is the first that I have seen where the legs were added. I am always amazed at how clean your ties are. Thank you,

    I have seen other good tyers do this pattern but you are the first person to show that little push back to inflate the bubble! Smack me upside the head Barry, it is so simple once it has been shown! Thanks man!

      Tim Flagler did this video/trick five months ago. Amazing tier and really good content.

      Hi Kerry, thanks. Well I'n not the first to do it. I was fortunate enough to meet Gary LaFontaine here in Norway way back in 94. As you say its simple once you know how...

      @@Thefeatherbender I saw Gary tie, he is still my Caddis Idol, I bought his book Caddisflies but he never tied that sparkle pupae when I watched or I would not have smacked myself on the head. Darn!

    Barry, thank you so much, I had forgotten how to tie in the pupa form. Your video helped so much. Your ties are always so clean,and and never seem to be over-tied with unnecessary bulk Thankank you,

    Gary Lafontaine changed how we looked at the bugs and how we fish, and one of my home rivers is the Salmon River in the Westchester section of the town of Colchester, CT- he did a good junk of his research for Caddisflies on this river. Caddis Flies was a and is an groundbreaking work.

    I appreciate the control of the dubbin in those final head wraps. Looked like it was getting loose on the thread, but then all of a sudden it seemed intentional. Super nice result.

    Will you help me for my tackle box for when I'm not dreaming anymore. Well what video would I like to see a grey subimago mayfly - an emerger of some sort? I have the perfect adult pattern - I just thought it might work like on the Elwha River. I locate fish with a stimulator caddis and then hook up with the LaFontaine Sparkle Emerger Caddis in grey with soft yellow stripes. So anyway - I could drop in links to images of what I am talking about. Well talk to you later - I hope. : )

    • @Thefeatherbender

      Hi Luiz, I have used it to best effect in still water but it also works very well in rivers. the best Antron comes from Dupont a trilobal Antron yarn.

    • @Thefeatherbender
      @Thefeatherbender  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Randy, Thanks. Its best to familiarise yourself with the basics first and practice on an easy pattern, like a pheasant tail nymph (in the book). Make sure that your work station is tidy. Prepare all your hooks & materials before you start tying, so you don't have to go and start looking for things, and tie about 6 of the same pattern. take your time and try to get each stage correct, especially proportions, tail length, body length, the correct amount of turns of wire for the rib etc. Once you have mastered that pattern choose another with a little different techniques and do the same, you'll get there... Good luck!

    Nice.. I have a few creeks that this would work very well on I think.. Well it didn't matter that I hurt my hand they have closed the fishing season here in washington state until may 4th so they won't let me sneak out and fish.. drat.. I am beginning to think it is all a conspiracy to keep me from fishing this year.. I did have to open my mouth and say this was going to be the best summer ever.. So I guess this is all my fault.. Sorry world! next year I will keep my mouth shut.. hope all is well with you Barry.. and that you can get some water time in.. carry on...
